  1. Athletic Newcastle’s 4-2 loss at Brentford prompted action. Howe’s one-on-ones with his entire first-team squad was pivotal in Newcastle’s reset. He encouraged players to speak their minds and list their concerns, but then emphasised some basic truths. The season was in the balance and would fork in one of two directions. Perhaps their reputations — his included — would do likewise. For lots of reasons, it had been a bruising summer and autumn, but they had to get a grip. Most basic of all, they had to get a win and follow it up with another. After Brentford, when Newcastle were 12th in the table, they had won twice in 11 Premier League matches. Every manager needs positive results to reinforce their methods, to give players buy-in and although Howe felt his side were not too far away, results offered a counter-argument. When confidence suffers, performances follow, doubts fester, pressure mounts. It is something Howe has said repeatedly in public, during good times and bad: “Winning shapes everything”.
  2. 9 v 10 I think - be nice to end their 10 with our 10!

We need the Indian war-cry fella back from the late 80s / early 90s from upstairs in the East Stand! Harry Palmer with his guitar on the pitch pre-match too!

Great win for these lot to be fair tonight!
  11. Saturday tea time but don’t shoot the messenger!
  12. That would have been a fantastic goal that - great one touch build up and the chip over the keeper bounced back off the post! You can’t not love Miggy! Never gave less than 100% and always had a beaming smile on his face! The spell when he turned into Messi was something else! Although his stats don’t prove it, he transformed us under Rafa’s last half season and we looked great going forward with him, Rondon and Perez! Great memories of his two goals at West Brom in the FA cup just before lockdown and his song absolutely belting out from the away end! (See below!). and that goal vs PSG! All the best to him and he’ll always be welcome back at SJP!
  13. Great stuff this mate - appreciate it!
  14. Athletic "Newcastle have scored at least twice in each of these nine wins — and also did so in the two games immediately preceding this run (three to draw against Liverpool and two in a 4-2 loss at Brentford). It is a 64-year-old record Howe’s team have broken, surpassing the 10 consecutive games in which a Charlie Mitten-managed Newcastle scored two or more between December 1960 and February 1961."

I didn't think it was bad at all for a 7.30pm mid January kick-off mind - shame Saturday is the shitty 12.30pm slot - everyone needs to go to the Garter for 9am!
  16. He's made a huge difference to the defence - they all look so calm and relaxed and not afraid to pass it to him no matter in what situation - there was an incident yesterday when Pope would have wellied the ball in to the Milburn stand but Dubs took a touch and played a lovely ball to Hall and off we went attacking!

    Alexander Isak

And now Merson is for the 856th time banging the Isak to Arsenal drum - absolute clowns

  20. It is crazy when you look at it like this!
  21. I've never liked this lot since Steve Bull smashed in four against us on New Year's Day! I'm sure at least three if not all four were at the Leazes?! 2-0 - Isak and Sandro
