Maddison will want significantly better wages than Gordon which it where we are close to FFP limits. The transfer fee is almost secondary here. If we want Maddison we will have much better scope to get him in the summer.
-
Main issue is our wage to turnover though isn’t it? Until we get new commercial deals like front of shirt in the summer we remain at like 95%, we could probably buy say a Maddison transfer fee wise but we probably couldn’t offer him a great financial package. Gordon will be on a lot less wage wise so he’s the sort of transfer we can do with falling foul of the rules.

You feel certain incentive may include CL qualification final league position etc so if we achieve that it’s fair enough.

Howay man Clearly talking about Everton.

I think they’ve made the right appointment here, although I still expect them to go down. They don’t score goals, which is ultimately what did for Burnley last year. -
I still don’t see where their goals come from

https://www.theguardian.com/football/2023/jan/16/police-say-they-did-not-receive-reports-of-threats-to-everton-directors It’s worth noting the police have disputed the ‘threats’ narrative from the Everton board. If I was a player I would feel like they threw me to the wolves with that decision. With no board members there basically out of cowardice the players became the proxy for a number of fans. Absolutely sympathise with the lad if he feels like he doesn’t want to play for a team like that.

We’ve got Malcom in the Middle… (I know he’s a winger)
-
Is he the lad who briefly played for Barca?
-
Comes over pretty well in this interview, all the comments section from the summer from Everton fans about how incredible he is

Everton can either sell to us at our price or risk losing him in the summer when they go down at an even cheaper price. Whether they are smart enough to see this is another thing. Gordon sale is big for them in FFP.

I also love that thing Joe does when he points to his head when he’s kicking off like he’s saying ‘you are out of your mind if you think this ends well for you’
-
I thought on Tuesday that lad who got sent off looked ready to get into it with Bruno and few others but when Big Joe jumped in to calm things down you could see he realised it wouldn’t end well for him and walked away

I thought Rooney too, although his record at DC United looks pretty awful (14% win rate) although don’t know the greater context to his time there. -
It seems we are very much keeping our powder dry in terms of purples until the summer. I think those three would be good business.
-
Our bid was 25m +15 in add ons. Part of which I assume will relate to qualifying for CL or similar.
-
The final is the Sunday after their second leg with Barca, they have quite the fixture congestion around then. They need to get past Forest first.

A god amongst men

Off the top of my head - There is CL places for the top four regardless of who wins the CL (ie Chelsea or Liverpool). If a side outside the European places wins a domestic trophy that would reduce the number of available spots.

Wait…what?

It doesn’t need to stand up in court, it’s just essentially a set of accounting rules. They can’t physically stop clubs doing what they want under the laws of the country they are based but they can impose penalties and or restrict entry to competitions they control.
-
You can still give them as long of a contract as you want but you will only be able to amortise the costs over 5 year period for accounting purposes. The whole reason they are giving these long deals is to account for them over the whole length of the contract.

No Forest justifiably needed a load of new players, they’d lost half their squad due to loans and contracts ending. Chelsea are just trying to inflate the market for blue chip players outside of every else’s grasp.
