Arsenal 4-1 Newcastle United (24/02/24) | Reaction: pg 43

This pisses me off something rotten tbh. So predictable. Arsenal are at their best when you let them control the game and move the ball around trying to find space through the channels in the final third. We’ve just stood off them and defend too wide all game long. Looks like we’d given up before the game even started which is unacceptable in my book. -

Fucking hell. That’s comical defending. We’ve been piss poor this far. Getting played through time and time again - Tino and AG10 leaving space on the inside every attack. Don’t think we’ve handled this particularly well unfortunately. -

Quoting myself wanker here. Even though 2 points is a 100% better than 1 against those teams at home it’s still 99.99% shit. We’ve had some awesome results this season and memorable games but we’ve had a shit load of piss poor performances and results as well. Disappointing whichever way you look at it. -

Every single team (except Sunderland) cuts right through us. Bad luck, injuries to key players and what not - that’s not the sign of a good team or a good manager to be honest. If we can’t get more than a point from games against Forest, Luton and Bournemouth at home - questions will have to be asked? Feels shit. -

Not as shit as shipping 3 and losing to Forest and shipping 4 against Luton tbh. -

It’s starting to get a bit tedious this. It all seems so avoidable. ? -
To be honest it’s been a real bitch of a season in regards to schedule, injuries and plain bad luck. And it probably always would be after last season’s performances where a lot of things fell our way. I get as frustrated with Eddie and some of the players as anyone from time to time and I do think that mistakes have been made in regards to how we have approached the season. Still it’s important to remember that we as a club and Eddie as a manager (as well as most of the players) are in uncharted waters here. Everyone connected is learning on the go. As frustrating as this season has been from time to time we’ve had a lot of great experiences, performances and results. And it will only get better - it might take a while but if there’s a manager that I’d put my trust in to better himself and find a way it’s probably Eddie. European football is still on the cards in some form for next season as well as a chance at the FA Cup. There are more awesome memories to be milked out of the tit that is this season IMO.

I just realised Højlund is the spitting image of Swedish singer Christer Sjögren. I think we can safely say that we all know what Mrs. Højlund was doing back in 2002. And it sure as hell wasn’t Mr. Højlund. ?

Whichever way we try to spin it - a draw at home against Luton (however spirited their performance was) is a bad result. Add to that the beating we took at their place and it’s terrible. We were good at Villa (and Villa were a bit rank tbh) but what happened today? So many errors both unforced and due to their press, the decision making both on and off the pitch left a lot to be desired today. -

Absolutely seething here. I can take losing against well drilled sides (as Luton are), but it’s hard to accept us making so many mistakes time and again and when we get pure stupidity like the pen (or the insistence of keeping him on tbh). -

Luton having more possession than us at SJP. Let that sink in for a second. ? We’ve stood off the pressing again today from what I can see as well. ? -

We’ve not been good so far. Look OK going forward but far too sloppy in passing and defence. Like night and day compared to the Villa game (or maybe Villa were worse than we thought). -

Was Canizares and a glass bottle. Got a nasty cut from the broken glass that severed a tendon in his foot. ? -
Great first half. This feels like the ‘old’ NUFC. Good press, better on the ball and a more solid defensively. Think the midfield 3 has looked good with better balance than the last few weeks. BDB has been monstrous this far. Praying that we don’t concede possession and back off 23/24 away style during the second half. Classic kick to the bollocks with Isak going off - need cover for the forward areas ASAP.
