How about open his mouth when his defence and midfield 4 stand off the oppostion whenever they cross the halfway line. There was one point where we had four players in the box like statues while the Forest plaer tee'd himself up for a shot. Given was a soft s**** when it came to bollocking the defence, Harper is a poor mans soft s****. The only redeeming thing is that he is in a bunch of players who have no voice between them. the defence wasn't really the problem today. Coloccini and Taylor are our best defenders and we missed them. That said, when we played the ball along the floor and got forward gradually, they no longer looked a threat. The lesson to be learnt, defend from the front. Camping in our own half and trying to play long ball nonsense very nearly cost us against Sheff Wed in August, yet we've done it several times since, unbelievable.

Who would you bring in that has / will have a better ratio? EDIT: You've answered that above. Seen nothing from Ranger to suggest he's any more of a goalscorer. neither have I. But then again i'd only ever play Carroll if we were employing the long ball system which has failed us badly in the last 3 games.

Who would you bring in that has / will have a better ratio? Shola, eventually. Until then i'd like to see us experiment for a couple of games with Ranger, who looks as likely as Carroll to score (ie not really) and is the better prospect in the long term.

Harewood was given plenty of the ball, its his fault that he couldn't do anything with it. I suppose it's also Lovenkrands' fault that he isn't a left winger. Using players incorrectly is the fault of nobody but the manager

Right now i'd give Ranger and Harewood a go together, given that Carroll hasn't quite taken to the championship as we'd expected. Alternatively, at some stage we may have to revert back to the dreaded 4-5-1 in order to dominate possession and allow our biggest goal threat to concentrate on getting forward.
