Newcastle United V Plymouth Argyle Pre-Match Thread - 19/09/09- 3pm KO
Ronaldo replied to Fenham Mag's topic in Football
Based on what? Based on common sense? You don't think Ranger or Carroll have the ability to put the ball in the back of the net from five yards? Carroll's already scored a couple of cracking headers which a lot of strikers wouldn't be able to pull off. I just don't think Lovenkrands is the answer to all our problems which some people seem to think, he's no better than the other strikers at the club, if at all better. I'd love him to do well I just don't think he's that good, hence the lack of interest from other clubs. Carroll and Ranger man one's never scored, the other averages 1 in 5 -
the fact he replaced Gary Speed with this tosser still pisses me off

And we all know Geremi has a superb knack of skinning players. Geremi has redeeming features though. He can cross as well as anyone in our team and still has good vision and an eye for a pass Lovenkrands as a striker or there's no point including him -

Lovenkrands cannot run at people, sad fact but completely true Geremi and Guthrie on the wings, Barton and Smith in the centre, Lovenkrands and Carroll up front. -

Why, oh why, oh why would you play Lovenkrands on the wing? it's ridiculous isn't it -
People putting their nose up at Harewood need to look at our last 3 teamsheets

a very, very short fuse - yes. Hard as nails - in their own head, aye

I was watching that on tv and jumped so high I nearly went through the ceiling...one of my all time favourite goals. It helped that Ian St John who was co-commenting on Ch 5 nearly had a stroke he was so angry it was a 97-98 league game, was channel 5 even on the air then?
-
half a decade, but yeah
-
bring back Souness
-
did you blink and miss the Cardiff game? It was all the warning we needed
-
ask Keegan and Allardyce. Keegan had Owen arriving late in the box so that pretty much nullified Barton's chances. He was playing a bit like Gattuso under Keegan tbh, covering out wide then dropping inside when we had the ball. Under Allardyce, fuck knows. The entire team seemed withdrawn and lacking fluidity
-
Keegan and Allardyce played Barton in a withdrawn role
-
Ah yes the Man Utd to Chelsea to Newcastle in the Championship move? I'm sure he'll be up for that. Juan Seba Veron next
-
The bad side is somebody will need to pass to him and we dont create much at present. somebody also needs to pass to Carroll/Ranger. Harewood will able to do more with the ball than those two tbh not of criticism of Ranger who's clearly a better natural footballer than Carroll, but not quite ready for the deep end just yet
-
Guthrie isn't a box to boxer
-
he'll do very well in the championship imo, all in all great cover. Now lets get another 2 in
-
he'd be a very good signing imo
-
Time will tell, but 8th is where I think they'll end up this season
-
perhaps, but the only real evidence of that is the Reading game
-
Villa weren't at the stage they are now when they signed him. I also believe it would be a good season for Villa if they managed to reach the Europa League spots again. In my opinion, Milner should be a definite starter in the current Aston Villa side. they finished 6th the season before they got him I saw no real improvement from them overall last season although they did have an excellent spell when they really got the rub of the green early-mid season

He looked an average at best player for us and has since started looking like a good player. By no means is he the answer for a club for top 4 aspirations though, and never will be
