How? Andy O'Brien survives in the league and he is woeful. He is woeful but better than Edgar, and plays behind a packed midfield
-
he'll get anihilated
-
You only had to look at the rest of the defence for players far, far worse who got far less abuse
-
Imho this would be a to light weighted central midfield, none of them are physical enough to battle in the championship nor good enough to outplay other teams. - Skjelbred has said that he doesnt like playing in a 4-4-2 formation, he likes to play in one of the sides in 4-3-3. He hasnt been his best this season, and startet the game against holland on the bench, behind the likes of Fredrik Winsnes which is utterly crap. The Norwegian Eliteserie is probably a worse league than the championship, so it would be stupid at the moment to pay around 5M for a player that is strugling in norway, wouldnt it? - Many ppl keep praising Guthrie, for me I cant see why? What is really Guthries best position and what is his strenghts? Imo Guthrie isnt a defensive midfielder because he is to lightweighted, he isnt a playmaker either because he is to slow and to ofthen needs to turn around 360' to hit a ball forward. As a winger he is to slow, and isnt good enough to cross the balls in open play, from set pieces he is good. If we take the Villa game as an excample, he didnt look interested and more than often didnt track back to help poor Edgar on the back. The game Butt didnt play because of a red card showed how much we needed a fighter in midfield, the only one we have atm that can fill Butt's place is Joey Barton, but that would be a HUGE gamble. I think Butt lost us a fair share of points last season especially with all the penalties he made against us the start of the campaign, but we need a fighter like him in the Championship. Keep him one more season till we are back up, but allready now buy a young player who can challange him for his spot in the team. We need Butt as far away from nufc as possible BTW why do playmakers need pace?

to be honest, as funny as it was seeing Spain get beaten by the USA, that referee got at least 10 of the most basic decisions wrong. When did the USA start diving? f***ing embarassing

what a load of absolute nonsense, he's was their best player by far last season "Their best player by far last season". Well done, there's plenty of silly exaggerations in this forum, but you've just topped them all! What absolute rubbish! Valencia and Scharner (just to name 2 players) did much better. if it's a silly exageration why was Bramble their official player of the season? EDIT: Supporter's player of the year Player's player of the year Media's player of the year Away player of the year Doesn't seem like such an exageration now, does it? Do your fucking reserach

It would be as good for us as signing Messi if Nolan, Butt and Owen went to Hull
-
Parker and Sidwell were found out at the very top level though, far too limited as players. Alternatively, he could be eased into the team and his talent will show. He's a hell of a player to bring on near the 70th minute mark when chasing the game.
-
Wouldn't surprise me if they were exactly the same quotes
-
Nolan just isn't a natural athlete and isn't a talented footballer either. I think he probably works hard off the pitch
-
well, money plays a big part, but he'll develop a lot better at Chelsea imo
-
he's learning from the best over there though, and I know which manager i'd rather play under
-
Likes the beer too much by all accounts. I'd like to see Redyapps idea more widespread, alcohol bans for top level footballers. They're paid a small fortune to keep at the peak of physical fitness yet still go out regularly on the lash. It just doesn't make sense. By which accounts?
-
if he was at full stretch, he would have saved it. it was deflected, didn't they mention that on the radio?
-
Keepers depend on confidence arguably more than any other player, which is why we seldom see goalkeeping changes being made unless it is absolutely mandatory. It was a mistake Keegan made with Srnicek and Hislop (didn't help that neither was really good enough) which may have cost us the title. Harper got better as time went on in the latter half of last season, and this will continue into next season, stability is everything.
-
Given wasn't world class but probably the tier below. Harper is very average, but perfectly good enough for the championship
-
you have a beef with Harper? Is there anyone at the club who isn't a cunt btw
-
what a load of absolute nonsense, he's was their best player by far last season
-
I'd love it if he went to Hull, they deserve each other Hull are down next season, i'd put my life on it, especially if they break the bank for Owen
-
Still a lot of idiots on here that wont admit he's a good defender, no matter how well he's played for Wigan.
-
I can think of one englishman who's much better in the holding role
-
Fair enough, I agree with the part about Shearer to an extent
-
the entire post consists of absolute speculation and ignorant generalisations
-
possibly taylor, but then people would say i was biased. Harper also. But in general, if 90% don't give a fuk and haven't put in the effort its not so wrong to tar the fuking lot imo. of course it is, say you were in a team of 22 and you plus 1 or 2 others put in maximum effort and the rest fucked it up royally. Say someone collectively accused the entire team of not exerting maximum effort, how would you react? I know how I fucking would. For the record I feel at least 3 gave their best this season, several others might have but they just weren't good enough
-
I think there are a couple of players who gave what could easily be considered maximum effort
