Before he left in '97 Elliott looked a real prospect I thought. Had the makings of a good attacking full back. Not sure how it all went wrong.

When he first signed his overall play was adequate at worst. It's gone backwards but I couldn't care less if he's scoring goals and doing the basics well enough to help make them, as he did on Sunday.

He's not a specialist finisher, he's a specialist at scoring goals all the time.

He was probably always first choice for that position.
