  1. Die in a fire you repugnant bastard.

    Kevin Keegan

That is toe-curlingly stupid. So stupid is Keegan's footballing philosophy that we won promotion under him at the first attempt, qualified for Europe at the first attempt and then were one win against Man U away from taking the league title for the first time in 70 years.
  3. Carroll was told they wanted the money far more than him. I'd have left, too.
  4. Oh, right. Like a great deal of the football managers on the planet.
  5. Does someone with half a brain want to explain the Pardew comparisons to me? Sherwood is honest and plays attacking football. Those aspects alone make him Pardew's opposite. From the south though, eh.
  6. I love it when managers are compared for no other reason than the region in which they were born. Really progressive thinking, that. Anyway, back in the real world Sherwood will get them scoring (more) goals. They'll stay up now, no bother.
  7. Great post, York. Actually probably worth pointing out too that Cabaye actually felt bigger than us, if that's how you want to phrase it, on the back of a poor season for him personally. He didn't really hit top form for us till his final 3 months here.

    Paul Dummett

I hope that's not aimed at me. Obviously he's currently better than Mike Williamson thus instantly improves the side as tgarve has questioned. He also has potential to improve. In my opinion to the standard I've mentioned. Not sure what the 'marrah' guff is in aid of, either.

The only example you can provide is his first PL start. He's never had games anywhere near as bad as Colo, Williamson, Taylor and MYM have in the past 2 seasons.

I have certainly never written a player off based on their first or second start in this league. Inexperience is never an acceptable excuse for lack of effort, mind.

Criticism for his first PL start.

Where has this lack of strength and aerial ability been apparent? You're just making things up now. He's certainly not slow, either. He's perfectly fine on the ball for a 23-year-old CB.

Not when the alternative is Mike Williamson.

Quite a ridiculous statement given that he's clearly already an improvement on what we're starting.

It's the same old crap. Young local lad must be poor even though he's had very few bad games and does everything pretty well you'd want from a CB.

Mong of the week the competition on here, like. I think people have forgotten what a CB actually does after years of having ones that can't defend. Size and inexperience are the only things holding him back.
  17. I don't know about Palace but he turned down West Brom because they didn't want to implement his ideas for building a club philosophy from the ground up. Horrible club in a knackered part of the country anyway.

You're kidding me. With the right coaching, partner and plenty of time, he can become an adequate, average, regular Premiership defender who can start a few games on the run and deputize for better CBs when required. He's 23, man. You're basically suggesting he'll do nothing but stagnate and even regress from this point. Brainless. Yeah, snagging quality CBs for 'our' club sounds completely realistic.
  19. Sherwood had his chance and took it. I don't blame him for being selective about his next job. Agree with the rest.
  20. Praise the fucking lord. Best news in a while that. We're much better without him. Quite hilarious that is the case considering the fact we don't have another CDM.

His size aside there's nothing to think he won't make one hell of a CB with time, coaching and the right partner.
  22. I can't think of many, if any, with both of those weaknesses that've had very good PL careers, mind
  23. As someone's already alluded to, their own manager headbutts opposing players, proudly lies to fans, trivialises rape on TV, and cheats on his wife. Aye, Papiss 'Am very happy' Cisse's a nasty piece of work.
  24. Christ. As if there was a time we had a manager as fantastic as Bobby and a player as brilliant as Robert. I feel like an old man reminiscing about 50 years ago, it's so far removed from the rotting corpse we're stuck with now.
