I don’t think there’s much of a defence for playing Burn over Botman against Bournemouth mind.
-
Either that, or we need to get better at breaking teams down. I know which is easier to achieve. Bottom line, we need a goal at home to beat a side who blatantly will go down and we have Longstaff, Wood and Murphy to bring on. It’s absolutely embarrassing and needs to be addressed in the next window.

Sven Botman: Out for up to 8 weeks after minor Knee operation (Howe)
Ronaldo replied to The Prophet's topic in Football
Burn was fine, but Botman is obviously a better partner for Schar - who’s currently by a bit of a distance our best CB. -
I’ve always hated the idea of wide players who ‘work hard’ - and we’ve spent 15+ years accumulating that type of rubbish with two notable exceptions. Unpredictability is everything and, as you say, we need another like ASM.

Yeah I don't get that either. Odd one. -
Booing is too much but spending over £200m on improvements to literally look like a Championship outfit is baffling. The Almirons, Joelintons, Frasers etc just can't be relied upon in any context to produce when we need them to. And that's before you even look at the embarrassing dross that came off the bench.

Definitely one of those players who contributes far more with good players around him. I don’t see him being here much longer, but he’s obviously a better option than Longstaff.

Captain Steak Bakes (now managing Blackpool/revising history)

Dinosaur fraud? Eerie. -
It’s because we didn’t give a fuck, and rightfully so.
-
Great side, but yeah Bellamy is an automatic choice.

100%. We'd just lost to Marseilles and the atmosphere was toxic. Penalty missed and the negativity was off the charts.

Looks more like Obama.

Some atrocious calls there. See my reaction on p.13 for some good old-fashioned British common sense.

Bit hostile, but I agree. The disparity is pretty obvious. Sels aside (who was shit) I think we’ve given keepers an easy ride over the past decade, and understandably so under the circumstances. Dubravka is a decent keeper who was never going to be good enough to see us to the next level.
-
Wish he’d be less soft, that’s all. Nobody is doing us any favours, and I’d have liked to see him confront the referee about that ridiculous VAR decision.
-
Our bench is mid-table Championship standard. Really to need to be ruthless and acquire a bit of depth next couple years of windows.
-
Attacks it really well. Brilliantly assertive. Can see him and Schar both getting a few this season. Far cry from the days of Coloccini and Williamson when the CBs would provide 1 a season between them.

An 8 is about right in the context of the club’s ambition. I count 7-8 very good players who are exactly what we need for the next few years, a handful who are acceptable for now, and a load of crap who shouldn’t really be in PL squad. It’s a transition and we’ve made good strides but there’s still too much residue from the Bruce years and beforehand - if I’m being hypercritical.
-
I said this the other day but we had a dozen corners with him on the field against Wolves. He got nowhere near any of them.
-
Anyone mentioned yet that Xisco scored on his debut? Seriously though, looks a real player.
-
Top keeper. Best we’ve had in years and years. Not a high bar, mind.
-
I was thinking that the other day you know. I don’t want to be morbid but he’s quite clearly not up to basic athletic standards in his current state. He’s less than half the player he was 18 months ago, and that’s saying something.

Brad Friedel all over again.
