Colback is upset because it's more difficult to do a sideways pass now. Could de Jong play where Colback is today? Not seen enough of him to know either way. no chance.

I think mcclaren has made the clubs position clear in so much that he expects to have a quality squad in three windows time. Hes also said he doesn't expect top 8 this year. Trying to see it from his/their point of view, they probably want a safe season if you like and bring more quality in next year with the new sky money.

This seems a tad negative IMO and, if I'm picking it up right, overconfident in your belief about Cashley's deliberate negative intent. That is being seen to try and make a go of the club, but just tipping his cap at it really; because we don't like him... Personally, I'd need a fair bit of evidence to buy-in to that level of paranoia. From the outside looking in, we've made some cracking signings. Doubt Real Madrid are going to be depressed about missing out on any of them, but I assume that is because we are where we are. Not because we are pitching too low/being half-arsed. I also think, having made the signings and appointed a former national coach, that we are now in a better position to sign a top rank CB. Fingers crossed... A tad? If we had of spent 100 million htt would have said we should have spent 200.

I agree, but it's just another thing that makes me sad about how worthless we are now. The kid was here for a year, was barely given a chance, recognised how s**** the club was, and couldn't wait to pop back to France. I want footballers to come here and fall in love with the club, and whilst I recognise that plenty of footballers are just playing for their wage and don't care about any club, I don't think that was the case with Cabella, given he seemed to be a nice enough guy...... but who knows. Oh well. Another one bites the dust. Now we get a new Frenchman to "bed in" for a year and sell on after underachieving. (I am also looking forward to the history-rewriting Mapou-esque comments that will inevitably follow his departure) As always, Dan. I have to disagree to be honest. I dont think it was a case of him recognising how shit the club was at all. He wasnt going to get in the team this season so a move was for the best. The move just didnt work out for him or us. An opportunity arose where he could go back to a league where he was comfortable and we got a player who was more suited to our needs. Sometimes move's just dont work. Maybe Cabella is better than he showed here, maybe he's not. Plus there's plenty of players who have fell in love with the Club, even recently.

I could live without a CB if we could get an actual capable LB. If we did somehow get a CB and no LB, then would Colo work as a Temporary LB? Certainly has a bit more leeway in that position. Colo would make a terrible left back. Please explain? He's got to be used as he's captain, I just think he'd be less of a liability there. Yee having a laugh?

I think a left back is more realistic to be honest. I can't see colo being dropped right away and I can't see a new centre half sitting on the bench.
