How many other teams would hire a manager who has just been sacked from a side from the division below. if that's the reason for judging.him on what's happened in the last 4 weeks then it's as short sighted as it gets.

What i meant is that Marseille have said that they don't want to sell him, and Thauvin himself has said that he will stay at Marseille no matter what. Not sure if correct but from what i've read we already had a similar bid rejected recently. The reason i think this is a smokescreen is for that exact reason, that we've wanted him for ages. We could have made a big bid ages ago, before they sold Payet and Imbula. Why wait until now when it's very unlikely that they want to sell unless for ridiculous money? What do you class as a goal scoring midfielder? That's twice you've referred to him as that. He got 4 last year, hardly prolific. Hardly easy to score goals from midfield when you are apart of a team which hardly gets into the box. I'd hazard a guess that Frank Lampard in his prime would have some struggles recreating his usual totals under Pardew and Carver. Doesnt look at though he scored many in France either mind. 3 in 55 in his last two seasons there.
