I'm sure it's unusually tight even for this stage? 1 point between 3rd and 9th. Mad if we'd won against Brighton or Everton we'd be clear in third. I fancy the current top 4 to be the top 4 at the end. We're quite well placed for fifth. Good chance the 3 straight above (Forest, Fulham, Brighton) fall away. Could well be a shoot out between us, Villa, Spurs and ManU for 5th, and we're above those 3 (well effectively level with Villa).

What's he done that's disgraceful from our perspective? Aye cheating on his wife is pure shit but don't think that's our business. Getting mortal on a saturday night when he's not in the squad currently is not ideal behaviour but it's hardly disgraceful or makes him a waste of space.

I reckon I'd probably consider the Arena site in the 'city centre' or 'town' (terms I'd use pretty interchangeably), though right on the edge of it. If I went there regularly i.e. for the match it'd become more consciously part of my city centre. Anything really adjacent to the main 7 bridges on the Newcastle side.

I sat with Rich’s radgie mags right at the back of the Gallowgate, where there’s a cluster of all-standing (unofficial) and consistent singing. Felt close to being at an away match. Noise from there probably doesn’t carry much, not a big group, but bounce off the corner a bit. It was class, would love to be somewhere like that every week - didn’t even know there was anywhere like that, bar maybe the corner.

Thought we looked a proper top team again. Some great moves. Most I’ve enjoyed a game in a good while - helped by being at the top of the Gallowgate with NO and other cool guys that were all standing, almost felt like an away crowd.

This feels like a big deal, like it did the last two years. Yet apparently we played these at the same stage just 4 years ago and I have no memory of. I would’ve watched, but shows how disinvested I was at that time.

Almost certainly going to have to beat top teams in both the semi and final to win this, and Brentford no mugs. Would be a hard earned cup! Bring it on.
