  1. Yeah, heart (if thats the right word) says Spurs to lose, but realistically they won't go down so it's probably better that Hull lost.
  2. As bad a tackle as it was I don't think he had any intent on hurting Anichebe. Anichebe took a bad first touch, Nolans starting position was sideways standing and he tried to get his body in front of him, but just got it all wrong.
  3. Why, because he's said so? One of the worst tackles I've ever seen to be quite honest, Anichebe could easily have gotten an Eduardo-esque injury from it and considering he got him with both feet I'm surprised he didn't. Rotten, cowardly challenge. He's left the ground with both feet and drove them together in a stomping motion, it just doesn't get more dangerous than that. I'm sure he was trying to get the ball and all that but that doesn't excuse it, it was a horrific lunge and he should really get a lot more than the 3 game ban for it. Obviously it benefits us if he doesn't get a longer ban, he's a decent player who gives us a goal threat from midfield afterall. But if he does I'll have no complaints, because he'll deserve it and more tbh. Just out of interest, what makes it a cowardly challenge? Leaving the ground, leading with both feet in a way that pretty much assures that if anyone gets injured in what should be a 50-50 ball it's going to be Anichebe. Say he were to challenge for the ball in a legal way, try and nick it away before Anichebe gets to it. There's a chance that he clips the ball and then Anichebe takes him out getting there a fraction late. It happens, and is the nature of a contact sport like football. Go in liek Nolan did though, and you're going to be grand. Same can't be said for the other guy though. Defines cowardice to me, anyway. That's fair enough, I was just interested to know what you actually meant.

  5. mackems.gif It may be mildly over the top but its certainly not laughably over the top.

    Steven Taylor

Enrique has had his share of doubters from the outset, Cacapa was also written off completely based on 13 nightmare minutes against Portsmouth. Coloccini seems to be getting written off by a lot, and there are also some who aren't even giving Nolan a chance after a couple of games. I'm sure there are others. Perhaps it's more of a relevant statement lately rather than a while ago, and maybe its because of all of the negativity around the club. Negativity spawning more negativity I guess.
  7. Guthrie not back in contention? Guthrie would be my first choice. Put him in ahead of everyone but Barton. I think a midfield trio of Barton, Guthrie and Nolan would be disciplined (tactically) enough to allow us to play a 4-5-1/4-3-3 formation.

    Steven Taylor

He had more to deal with defensively at either end if you include having a defender trying to get the ball of you/stop your advances as defending too which I do than either of Bassong or Colo had to contend with which was mostly pressing, clearing and getting tight to the ineffective, seriously weak Jo - Everton's very own Ameobi for the day. In his own defensive area Taylor made several key blocks from crosses and kept Baines at bay throughout by checking his runs and pushing him back with his own forward runs. When Fellaini came on Taylor was also tasked with competing with him in the air which he did to good effect. I also recall Taylor clearing 3 vital balls with his head, once stooping very low and nearly getting a boot to the face, inside the box assuming the role of centre-back. Where Bassong or Colo were I do not know, well I do with the latter, he was at left-back covering Enrique for some absurd reason which he does a lot - goes on these needless walkabouts that threaten our shape and leave holes in the box meaning someone has to fill in which if they do leaves holes elsewhere. Taylor was constantly brought over to the touchline when the ball was out of play for instruction which indicated at least tactically he had a big part to play today at both ends. Which he did and did well. He's not a better right-back than Beye and never will be but going forward he gives us something that Beye doesn't give us and as someone who personally believes that attack is the best form of defence, in that sense I'd rather see Taylor at RB than Beye which I'll get shot down for but there you go. Regarding Beye I'd put him in alongside Bassong and remove the just as likely liability as Taylor at CB that is Colo who for me is proving to be a bit of a flop. squint, and this post looks like a brick wall with graffiti Colo already seems to be one of the those defenders who'll never get the praise he deserves, very sad True, we seem to jump on players who aren't instant world beaters. Other teams seem to have players that after a shaky first season turn out to be good, whereas we never seem to allow the player to get to that stage. Coloccini hasn't been as bad as people seem to make out.
  9. Looks like he also has the two Taylor's round the wrong way. And no Enrique...
  10. Martins - 4, waste of time? What the fuck was he supposed to do when up top on his own having only clearances to run for? No one would be able to do much up front in the situation we were in yesterday. He still managed to put Jonas in on goal as well.
  11. Can he apologise to me for being a travesty of a footballer? Shut up mate come on. You're usually a good poster but christ.
  12. If he wasn't playing beside Butt he'd look a good player imo. He barely ever miss places his passes and does a steady if unspectacular job.
  13. The only possible case for a defence of Nolan was that it looked like it all happened too quickly for him to have meant it. In real time it looked like his body shape was all wrong and tried to go in sideways. Still a red card mind. How anyone can say Ameobi "gives his all" is beyond me, just because your willing to play whilst injured, it doesn't mean your giving your all. He spends so much time standing around doing fuck all. We need Jonas and Martins on. Wouldn't mind seeing Viduka on either but can't see all of that happening being down to 10 men.
  14. If things stay as they are its a decent set of results for us today.

    6 year old genius

It's quite mind boggling that a child aged six can have that sort of co-ordination. I reckon he's a 22 year old midget.

    That's unbelievable.
  17. So, you want someone to go trawling round the internet for you looking for a goal that looks like another goal? I'm sure they'll take great pleasure in doing that

    Nile Ranger

Was Donninger the number 4? He should have scored that chance. Ranger did well there.
  19. Nice start for the lad.

    Top bloke !

Kinda weird seeing him talking about mortgages etc, you just assume footballers don't worry about that sort of thing.
  21. Nothing like a bit of optimism.
  22. That must be a good sign if he's straight in at reserve level, only 16 isn't he?
  23. I'll never forget his performance against Arsenal, and most of his performances that season, he was outstanding his first year IMO. Especially given the circumstances.
