  1. You can't pin the circumstances of a season on one player. Parker and Given were probably the only decent things to come out of Souness' season with us. Roeder then came in and tried to change the way Parker played. The team may have improved (aguable), but because he wasn't being effectively used, Parker's performances dropped.
  2. Parker was outstanding in his first season for us IMO. It's only when Roeder decided he wanted to try and fix something that wasn't broken by making him an attacking midfielder that his performances dropped.
  3. You're all very quick to dismiss this idea, methinks you're all in on it. This conspiracy is deeper than he realised.

    Jonas Gutierrez

3 decent games don't excuse 3 seasons of taking the piss.. and he's taken around 3 million from the club in wages.. If he was a player in Italy, someone would've sliced is throat in a dark alley a long time ago. You're quite right to an extent, but I get the impression from many people on here that even if he was to go on a decent run of form from now on, it wouldn't make a difference to them.

Nice to see Duff still getting stick despite being on relatively decent form.

    Players in public

Lloyd Banks and Craig David look very similar
  7. Just watched the reserve highlights, Xisco took his goals very nicely, he also looked like he worked hard and was a threat throughout. Lua Lua really does deserve a crack, he really is doing well. That run was so unlucky and his goal was well taken.
  8. I wouldn't think so. I think in the summer we will make every effort to get rid of a good number of players who just aren't worth what they are costing the club, and this will allow for more money to be invested on top of the £8 million currently sitting there. Many thought that would happen last summer. And this January. We've given two of them new contracts. You can't do it in a Jan window, no excuse for last summer though.
  9. Well, I'm no accountant either. But as I understand it, it's not debt that they're afraid of. They however see the losses we're making at the moment as bad debt owed on poorly performing players such as Owen, Duff, Smith, Viduka. Players who have not earned their keep since being here. Once they get rid of these, I get the impression that they are not afraid of getting into the good debt by bringing in players that fit their long term plan of buying young and hungry contributors to the cause. Very true, makes sense (from one non accountant to another).
  10. I am very reluctant to talk about the financial side of Newcastle as 1) I don't know a great deal about this side of things and 2) Someone will probably jump right on top of any remotely under qualified comment, but.... I get the impression from that they they are trying to spend enough to get by on whilst they clear, or lower the debt over the next few years, and then go from there. I'm not sure that there's any indication that they'll spend big after that though.
  11. ... and Ginola. mackems.gif Give over man mackems.gif I knaa!! Ginola brought over bags of footballing grace with him. I remember our first game in them hoops against Sheffield Wed. Ginola played out of his skin and scored a cracking goal. Beardo's finish was immaculate too mind. never forget his goal against ferencvaros...glorious We had an archway from our kitchen to our conservatory in our old house that I used to use as a goal to try and re enact that Ginola goal
  12. Which is exactly why I said that I know it doesn't always work that way.
  13. You'd think a £6 million price tag would be a reasonable base for the argument, and his record prior to signing for us. I know that doesn't always work that way with the player coming into a new league but its still a base of some kind.
  14. TBF our unpredictability is becoming somewhat predictable nowadays.
  15. If its not too late, maybe he'll get a chance next season if Kinnear doesn't stay on (and we haven't been relegated).
  16. If Man Utd win it this year, will that mean they are as successful as Liverpool in terms of league title wins?
  17. Your Elmander reasoning is surely what contributes to his move currently not working out though.
  18. As much as I'd laugh at seeing Spurs go down, I think they'll probably finish above us. Though they do keep dropping points when you think they would push on....
  19. Would be nice, was just thinking the other day how we don't really have any instantly likeable "adopted geordie" types in the mould of Pav, Nobby, Albert etc. What about old Habib though?
  20. There's a difference between acknowledging that your player made a mistake and calling him a cunt though.
  21. Harry Redknapp doesn't have a problem taking the complete opposite approach
