Even when Dan Burn is back to full fitness I would be amazed if Howe drops Tino after his recent performances. Absolutely first class!

Champions League 2023/2024: Group F (Newcastle, Milan, Dortmund, PSG)
pinkeye replied to Marko NUFC's topic in Football
Anyone know of a good bar in Copenhagen for watching Newcastle? I will be in that city next Tuesday night. I have heard of a place called Pub and Sport... Anyone got any information. -
What???? Our only beacons of virtue have some skeletons in their closets? Who would believe that?
-
Saw something on Facebook, on an Everton Fan Group that somehow crept into my feed... A Sunderland fan praising them, telling them to all stick together and they will be fine. How cruel and awful the Premier League are for imposing the sanctions and blaming the previous owners for not being ambitious enough.... Followed by tons of Everton fans fawning over Sunderland fans stating they are the finest fans in the North East blah blah blah!!! Two sets of fans that are perfectly aligned to each other, both massively in the shadow of their far larger neighbours and both sets of fans that crave anything to gain attention and praise from any other football club / set of fans. The Real Mackems and the Merseyside Mackems.

I hope that if he is selected for England during the International window that he pulls out. He really needs a break. Too many blaming him or commenting on his performance specifically. By his own high standards he has been somewhat away from his best but, anything I saw just seemed to be related to fatigue. Still one of our most important players.
-
I watched the first half of their match.... what happened to the Championship? When did the standard drop to this current low? More importantly WHY do the local commentators call all of the Sunderland players by their first names? It is just fuckin weird!! Jobe, Patrick, Luke.... WTF???
-
What do they not bloody understand? They were light years behind Luton, Burnley and Sheffield United last season who were promoted easily as the best three from that league and yet are struggling like hell in the Premier League, the standard of the Championship gets lower and lower each season and yet a couple of wins for them and suddenly they expect that they would give European elite teams a good game of football and are definitely of Premier League standard.... Honestly they are ridiculous at times and that forum brings out the absolute nutcases.

It is really time these Sun'lin gimps stopped kidding themselves that they give even the smallest shit about Global Human Rights, they don't care that many clubs, several Premier League occupiers, are owned by Middle Eastern organisations / individuals / Kingdoms.... All they care about is that their nearest rivals and for a few years a team they regularly beat has been lucky to be purchased by hugely wealthy owners and more importantly fully engaged stakeholders in the fortunes of the club and so as a result will take regular large strides away from them in status, standard and ultimately (if not already) be completely out of reach for them. I cannot wait for the day that we get to play them again, it will be brutal ! I find it hilarious that they cannot grasp the fact that teams that finished 20 - 30 points ahead of them last season are struggling in the Premier League and yet in their tiny heads and minds they would be able to give most of the Premier League a lesson in football and even give PSG and Milan a beating.
-
Really good call. I will be in the ground at least 30 minutes before kick off.

Absolutely buzzing for tonight... I am old enough - like tons on here - to remember and have attended some of the big Champions League nights in 2002/3 and 2003/4... Amazing nights but, tonight feels very special. Today is dragging like hell already... trying to keep myself busy to pass the time but, the butterflies have kicked in already! Especially chuffed for my 18 year old son who up until the last couple of years has experience nothing but, crap from this club since he started to take notice!

I think it is OK to compare the same games from the season before with the season current, it is a good way to measure progress. I agree it is mental to compare our results and those from a team from a league below though! We lost at City last season, Liverpool beat us at home and we got a point at Brighton. We did really well at City this year and only just lost, albeit I think they had another gear to go into if it was necessary. Liverpool was a disaster and we should have beaten them. Brighton was a poor performance from our side. Like I said originally - we have plenty of time to put things right and we will.
-
They would have been too busy getting out to the Southampton fan coaches so they could give them a "slap" off the field as well as on it. No football Saturday is complete without terrorising the away fans as they head home.
-
I loved the series, moments of pure joy for sure! Seeing how much it all means to Amanda is fantastic.... having board members who are so engaged in the club can only be good thing! Then the final word from his Excellency Yasir Al-Rumayyan: "We have only just started!"
-
If these last three results of ours were viewed in isolation across an entire season then I do not think anyone on either side of the North East cultural divide would raise an eyebrow but, because they came consecutively at the same time as Sun'lun made two consecutive wins then some of our fans fall into panic mode and some of theirs get super confident. I hate losing but, I can understand that we will lose games across a season. We have time to put things right and those dopes have plenty of time to fuck it right up!

Episode 3 now available
-
Cheers. Maybe it will sort itself out later if I get some better WiFi.
-
Seems now the whole lot is unavailable... at least to me. Anyone else checked?
-
I haven't started watching it yet but, went in to the Prime app this morning to download onto my phone so I can watch on my flight home from holiday tomorrow. Got episode 1 but, saying 2 is not available any longer... what a shambles .... Never had this problem with Clarksons Farm.... haha

My son is at Park View currently in 6th Form. He says it is roughly 50:50 for Newcastle/Sunderland. He did say that there is an "argument " ongoing about whether Chester le Street and Durham should be Sunderland strongholds..

From my angle watching the incident that lead to the injury I thought Isak had barged into him in an effort to get to the ball. The replays on MOTD seem to show that Mings himself stepped across Isak and barged him but, somehow unbalanced himself to the point his knee buckled horribly underneath his weight. Wish him well for his recovery.

Champions League 2023/2024: Group F (Newcastle, Milan, Dortmund, PSG)

haha, literally in the OP: Group stage Draw: 31 August 2023 Matchday 1: 19–20 September 2023 Matchday 2: 3–4 October 2023 Matchday 3: 24–25 October 2023 Matchday 4: 7–8 November 2023 Matchday 5: 28–29 November 2023 Matchday 6: 12–13 December 2023 So we would play either 19th or 20th but, whether it is home or away depends on the draw on 31st.... All good. Actually hope it is away as I have a trip to Sweden planned that week which would be hard to get out of. -

This will have been asked or discussed already but, when is the first CL match for us? Is the home / away dates in a preset order or would it be random based on the draw? I travel for work and just want to make sure I am home for the games. -
Derby days were immense. In town early having some beers, the tension building up. Then you hear the chanting from the Sunderland crowd being marched through the streets heading up to the ground under police guard... the counter chanting from our fans... the atmosphere is electric!! Inside the ground you literally cannot hear yourself think... Intensity personified!

Does anyone really think the players for Sunderland are as pathetic in terms of hating "the Mags" as their stupid fans? There is always a chance of being injured on a football field regardless who you are playing against, ask Tyrone Mings.... I highly doubt any Sunderland player would set out to purposely end the season of one of ours. And likewise the other way around. Someone like O'Nien might be a risk because he is a total arsehole but, I would not be worried about playing them one bit. Playing Sunderland in a cup and enjoying a comfortable win would be lovely
