  1. I would love to see that formation used for a few more games, hopefully in a row so that the team can gel a bit. We are without Bruno for a couple of months and Wissa seems to be injured again somehow so Osula with Waltermade in behind him is a nice change that I think will start to work really well.

Just read something on Facebook that Speak Kristjaan Speakman has left their club. Edit - So did Paully it seems!

    Dan Burn

He was skinned twice in the first 10 minutes, if we were playing a better side than Spurs that would surely have meant we would have been two goals down. By skinned I mean he may as well have not even been there he was so far away from the pace. I have no idea why Spurs did not exploit their right more last night, Burn and Botman have so little pace that Spurs could have had a field day! I do quite like Burn in a back three with wing backs.
  4. You neglected to mention Richarlison and Maddison but, I think your point was made adequately
  5. I watched the match in a bar with no sound on the TV. Anyone able to explain how this worked for me? Elanga fouled and free kick awarded to Newcastle. PSG player injured while he fell, following the foul. Elanga booked! Free kick still goes Newcastle way... I am genuinely confused. What did the commentary team say about it?

What exactly is their project? Buy a load of low cost African and French players, hope that one or a couple prove to be better than expected so they can be sold for a tidy profit to line the pockets of their owner??

He really underestimates the shallow nature of footballers and their desire for money.
  8. If the whole 11 players of the team played with the same heart as Joelinton and Hall I don't think we would have too much to worry about. I am not saying that Joelinton is our best player, far from that but, he plays with such determination and intention... Hall is just fuckin' class.
  9. Watching Football is a weird hobby, we miss it like crazy during the summer and when there is an international break, more so when your team has a run of away games and you do not have the points total to be able to go to many away matches. Then you get a run of 4 games at home in 10 days and by the third game the shine has worn off and the games seem less attractive. I had felt the same on Wednesday night before the Leeds match although I am glad I went. I understand exactly where youa re coming from!!
  10. Often a broken ankle also has associated ligament damage so it is hard to judge. From my very limited experience though, ligament damage around the ankle can be anything from a couple of weeks for something small like a minor twist up to several months for ruptures. That said none of the injuries that me or my (very amateur) football friends suffered were dealt with and treated by highly skilled specialists, we were just told to use ice packs and rest.

    Joelinton

When you watch the passage pf play at lower speed he is caught around the thigh area as he is bursting through, when traveling at the speed he was moving then it could have been enough to put him down, or he may have just felt it and threw himself down. Probably not a penalty but, equally not a yellow card for simulation. In my opinion.
  12. OK possibly a poor example by me but, I can confirm that Arsenal are bloody expensive by comparison.
  13. Yup, same for me. Plus at least 40"Kwid" dropped in town on a few pre-match pints before each game. To sit in the East Stand where everyone seems to feel it's OK to comment that we are all asleep or something while watching the game. 1) We have potentially the worst facilities in the whole ground (need hazardous zone clothing and breathing apparatus for the toilets) 2) Getting in is generally chaos, seats are very uncomfortable and there is practically no legroom! 3) Takes ages to get out at the end 4) However, around me are some great people who do join in with some of the singing. I agree it is not the Strawberry Corner but, apart for that area where else is? 5) There is a weird wind that seems to swing around from the Gallowgate making it bloody freezing.... I promise you that if you think it is expensive now then you are going to be in for a surprise. Prices are only going in one direction. Lucky for us we do not support Chelsea or Arsenal, my Arsenal supporting mate pays almost X3 the price of my season ticket for his....
  14. Apparently before becoming a footballer he was a bank clerk, I am shocked and surprised that he was not a supermodel.... there is still time!!
  15. It seems to be a really bizarre life to be a professional footballer. All the money that you could ever dream of in one hand and absolute loneliness in the other. It can be argued that it is a short career and the sacrifice to be financially secure for several lifetimes may be worth it but, the career extends through what could be argued are the best years of your life. How many times have you heard of an ex footballer suffering with depression and anxiety once they have retired from the game? When all you have in your life is a dressing room and team mates to suddenly go to nothing must be a really difficult transition. It is no surprise that so many ex footballers are trying to stay connected by getting involved in coaching, management and punditry even though they really do not need the extra money, it is just trying to stay connected to something... the only thing they have known since being a child!

    Nick Woltemade

I didn't say he was not a striker, if you are referring to my comment about him being a #10 type of player. If I could go back and reword the original comment I would have been clearer in that he should be played behind (or along side) a more mobile striker in a support / additional striker role. Ideally that would be in a 4 4 2 set up which we all know is probably never going to happen under Eddie. To be clear, I really like him and support him in our team. I am a little frustrated by his lack of physicality but, as someone else said, he is new into a very physical league and the step up will take a bit of adjustment for sure. I think he should be winning more balls in the air, that is also probably something that will come in time. I want to compare him to Peter Crouch - who fair enough was in English football for his whole career so understood the physical nature of the sport. I do think that this is the type of player he may become once he gets used to the Premier League. I like him and only wish him well.

    Nick Woltemade

Probably been said by many people on here but, I will say it again. Woltemade is a perfect #10 player. He would really thrive by being allowed to play just behind a main striker, one with great movement - such as Wissa.... I think it has also been said many times that Eddie is stubbornly sticking to his 4 3 3 formation and predictably will probably never (or at best rarely) play the two strikers together.
  18. I did not see the press conference but, I was told that Howe said something about the team without the experience of Nick Pope and the physicality of Jamaal Lascelles that the whole team dynamic has changed..... Correct me if I am wrong but, I don't think Lascelles has played for a very long time, surely the way that this has been conveyed to me is not as black and white as it seems above??
  19. Thanks! Madly, I had just clicked to submit that message and I received an email saying the ticket had been successfully added to my "season pass"... Is that what we call them now? Season Pass??
  20. Would not care if it rained so much that our pitch was flooded, unplayable and match postponed! Additionally, anyone had any notification of whether the match ticket is added to a season ticket, like it was for Spurs, or a separate download is going to be sent out? Nothing from the club received at my side so far!

As much as you are - quite fairly - lapping the win up. I wonder if we would have seen you and Teddy over here if the result had been different. By the way, that is a rhetorical question because of the obvious reasons. And just for the record I think that was the worst football match I have watched this season, both sides were absolutely pathetic.
  22. Haha, I used to call a lad I worked with back in the 80's Mac as he was from Sun'lun, after a while everyone called him it - even though his name was Ian (or something) - he used to get really angry about it and even reported me to the boss, who was from Cramlington and consequently didn't give a shit!
  23. It would be preferable to the green one in my opinion...
  24. You are the voice of reason amongst a crowd of Neanderthals
  25. Clearly a large section of their fanbase would take a defeat as long as it was coupled with a couple of serious injuries to our key players!
