Like THEY pulled out of signing Nugent, aye because after inital talks and numerous telephone conversations you realised you were leaving messages on flirt divert. My neighbour was on a flight to Spain just after the Euro Champs (Under 21's) and Stephen Taylor was on the same flight going to Malaga for a week with his mates, Nugent was going to join them out there. On the return flight Taylor, who is a first class bloke who spoke to anyone who spoke to him, told my neighbour that Nugent had to turn his phone off for the full week because Sunderland were calling all the time and he did not want to sign for them!!

Tottenham to Ipswich is ~80 miles. Newcastle to Ipswich is ~280 miles. Obviously London is closer to Suffolk than Newcastle, that's not what I meant specifically. He still wouldn't be there every night etc would he? Therefore he may as well be in Australia because it is not "home". He clearly believes that he is too good to be at Newcastle, one of the very few players who have not recognised the fact that the club is changing for the better and moving forward. Truth, he is bloody lucky to have been with us for as long as he has been. He has milked his salary for years and while we stood by him through the mystery illness / recurrent hamstring he has stood laughing all the way to the bank!!

What I don't really understand about this whole thing is that Dyer claims to want to move for family reasons......... All his family is in Ipswich, Suffolk yet he seems to want to move to North London??? He is a total prick and the sooner we get rid of him the better.

It's the number on your season ticket where it say customer number, so yes.

Did anyone else think that Butt and Geremi linked together really well? They seemed to always give the other an outlet making the middle of the playing field look very neat. I cannot see how either can be left out of the team. Not sure how Barton will fit into a team with both Butt and Geremi in midfield though......... Read a stat about Solano in the Sky Magazine saying that in Premiership history he holds the record for being substituted more times than any other player. Real shame because he is probably the smartest footballer we have in the squad. When he retires we must keep him on staff in a coaching role, even if it is with the kids. Inspirational player and personality, in my opinion!! Really enjoyed the game and it was good to see some goals at home after the way we finished last season without a goal in the last 6 or 7 at home. Looking forward to Sunday where I think there will be a bigger crowd as well.

Most preseason games are rarely that competitive and you never get a true reflection of how your team will fare during the real season. The fact that there is a trophy at the end of it will maybe give the players a bit more enthusiasm for the games and they will get a better workout as a result. Enjoy it.

The Mapie Mover gives you use of the bus, the metro, S*nderl*nd to Blaydon Rail line and the Shields Ferry up to 3 hours before the match and three hours after for all home First Team Matches. It is a bargain and I always get one. I always get a laugh at the number of idiots who try to travel without a ticket on matchday, there is always, 100% guareteed, insprectors at Central, Monument and Haymarket Metro Stations before and after the match. £20 fine if you don't have a £1:70 ticket... no brainer to me! My card came today as well. It looks like it works by proximity so you only have to put the card near the reader for it to register you in. My dad has a pensioners ticket and it looks the same as mine but, with the words "senior citizen" on it. If he wants to give his card to someone who should pay full price it is possible to pay the difference in advance at the ticket office. The only down side is that you will have to really trust the person you sell your ticket to for games that you cannot get to yourself... No tickets for sale announcements in Sam Jacks on a Saturday afternoon now, unless the box office will issue "one off" tickets for you when you are unable to go. Doubt it though because one of the terms and conditions of owning a season ticket is that it is none transferrable and only the named person is supposed to use it. Anyway, looking forward to getting soaked at the Celtic match tonight............

Bar 1892 is towards the Leazes end of the Milburn Stand, it is one of the Bar areas that you normally pay a premium price for a seat. In my opinion the seats are about the right hight for the best view of the game. You will be able to see everything well from there. Thanks pinkeye for replying. Do you mean this area? : http://img486.imageshack.us/img486/2524/thisareaeu0.gif Cheers , Yeah what Bramble OG said, the dark orange coloured bit is actually the 1892 Club. So if you are next to that you could be anywhere around it.

I would guess at the usual suspects; Sam Jacks, Idols and The Vault.

Don't like his goal celebration, not that I have seen it too often though.

I think that to ask whether a player wants to stay is a perfectly valid question. This is a great time for Newcastle, a decent manager who has no preconceptions and is prepared to do what it takes to fire this club back into the position we all want it to be in. Owen is so fragile now that if he wants to leave and we get a good offer then he should go. Any player that wants to go now can go, without exception. We will see a brand new Newcastle United next season. I will definately be renewing my ticket now, I am very optimistic.

Do you think he will make the PA people play music when we score? "Who knows the way to Ammarillo" he he he.
-
Not saying that he was the best ever but, watching http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7PUwYwDfgOU&mode=related&search= that made me remember that we used to be a bloody good team. Tino..........

Has there been any clues as to whether prices are going up, coming down or staying the same for next season? Whatever Fat Fred is I am sure he is not completely stupid and judging by the number of people left in the ground for the lap of honour / centre circle applause after the Blackburn match he must realise that dropping the renewals on our doorsteps next week with anything other than a significant price drop will be met with resounding astonishment!! I guess I am one of the cretins that are regularly mentioned on here that would probably renew without question season after season, well I actually have renewed season after season regardless of the tripe I have been forced to watch because I always think that next year will be better!! This year is different, I am giving serious consideration to not renewing until the very last minute before the season starts or worse (for the club) just going to selected games through next season and not renewing at all. I know people who have been season ticket holders a lot longer than me who feel the same and in some cases a lot worse. I guess a lot will hinge on the bottom line next week, how much we have to fork out.........

I really thought that Nobby should be offered a coaching role once his playing days were behind him. There are few players who know the game as well as he does.

We do need someone else in charge at the club, whether Sven would be the answer is a difficult one to answer, the press would have hounded him if he went to an English club after managing the National side. He did a better job than Mike Baldwin look alike is doing currently by the way! However, yes I would take Sven now, given the option.

I think Roeder bottles the tough decisions which is why the same people get dropped and the same people get substituted every match. While there were injuries and he had no choices he simply played the best available 11 where as now we have very few injuries he struggles to select a decent team out of the lot of them! nufc.com made a very decent point in their summary of the match this week, they said that this was the week that Roeder finally lost the support of the crowd! That is true and it has been coming for weeks. Parker doing little turns instead of driving forward, the crowd grumbles are getting louder. The team selection, we all know that Milner should play ahead of Carr, Solano has been doing ok at R/B. We all know that Zog is a better player than Duff but, Duff gets the call first every time. We all know where we have needed to strengthen the team, and we have known this for 10 years, why the hell can't the men in charge see this? All those things and a whole lot more are as a result of Roeder being in charge at this club. (apart from the defense being rubbish for the last 10 years, although he has had 2 windows to improve it!). We used to receive a load of armchair support from neutrals around the country, no-one has sympathy anymore. Our demise has been manufactured from within. Like most people on here and elsewhere, who have season tickets, I will definately be renewing because I love NUFC, Saturdays aren't the same during the close season. This year it will be a lot harder to stump the money up than it has been on previous seasons and I wonder for how many more seasons I am going to keep on doing it regardless of the quality I get to watch in return!!

There is only so much that you can do with vertical balck and white stripes. Looks Ok to me by the way.

Not again!!! Not being all that regular on here I didn't realise that this has been done to death before, sorry gents. I was only interested as a genuine question as to whether anyone remembers anything good in their supporting lives. I can remember the Div 1 championship, we went up with the highest points and goals scored in the history (up until that season anyway). I also remember (as a child) the Texaco Trophy in 1973. I just think that I am going to go through my whole life not seeing Newcastle win anything that is really significant and it is very sad!! We couldn't even win the Gateshead Shield a couple of years ago and since then we looked odds on for some pre season cup in Asia (was it the Asia Cup?) until Jenas (I think) tried the most stupid penalty I have ever seen and we lost to Chelsea.
-
Actually remember Newcastle lifting a tophy (of any merit) within their lifetime so far? I am starting to think that I will support this team forever and never actually see a trophy being lifted ever. I've been to Wembley twice (Charity Shield and FA Cup Semi v Chelsea), I've been to Cardiff once (FA Cup Semi) and always felt like those are going to be the best I will ever get to see, even though, except for the Chelsea match, we were totally rubbish on those occasions.

Yeah, I saw the ad in last weeks Chronicle but, I didn't fancy the job me self like!!

I was waiting to see what the performance was like on saturday before deciding whether to go on Thursday or not!! I am away in Manchester on business all that day and to be honest I am not going to rush back to sit and watch that lot. The level of effort from most of the team is pathetic, only Nicky Butt looked interested on Sat.

Is that true, 3% increase?? Bang out of order!!
