Carrick is technically brilliant, it's the rest of the game that sometimes passes him by.
-
He popped up on Sky last night when I was in the gym, weird to see him playing for someone else. He fitted the bill as a lower league keeper though I thought.

I see Cabaye more as an Observer or FT Weekend man. -
simple really, rent the stadium for a relative pittance, sell Upton Park for housing or whatever the Porn Barons pocket a s*** load of money which West Ham as a club will never see Don't think either of them have considered any implications for it beyond that I think you'll find that Upton Park is mortgaged to the hilt. Hangover from past owners and a reason why the porn brothers got the club for so little. Aye, West Ham are like a Monopoly player who's already turned all their cards to 'mortgaged'... nothing good comes of it in the end.

What a ridiculous waste of bandwidth that was. -
Guess the posh seats are more likely to be full for high-profile games as well, I wouldn't pay those prices to watch Wigan.

He's a much better player technically but whether he'll provide as much work down the right flank all game is another question. He seems more of a forward type than a genuine wide man which may be why Pardew prefers Obertan, who for all the criticism does run up and down for 90 mins, if not very incisively at times. Yep, agree with that. What Obertan has in his favour is the ability to bring pace and potential threat for the whole 90 minutes. Even if (so far) he hasn't used it to its full potential. I also think that Marveaux has just as much potential as a midfielder or more central player, but we'll use him wide due to the makeup of our squad.
-
Obviously, I don't blame anyone for criticising that. That said, if you have a flair player he will try to do things with flair, and those will sometimes be low-percentage things.
-
Marveaux is a much better player right now from what I've seen, can't argue with that.
-
I agree, he's not half as bad as some people are saying. He passes the ball decently, moves well and covers a lot of ground. He just needs to sharpen up his decision making and decisiveness - whether or not he can do that remains to be seen.
-
Looked bad but he would have been very unlucky to get sent off.
-
Always wonder what clubs like Brighton get out of these short loan deals. Surely it's pointless displacing their existing keeper for a couple of months to accomodate Harper? Unless he's absolute shite of course.
-
Decision making is his biggest flaw, my only worry is if that is something that is coachable.
-
It's a good move for me. Get people used to going with their friends and family members then next season they'll want to buy a full-price ST. I know it's slightly harsh on existing ST holders, but that can't be helped.
-
Yeah, everyone wants to see Loverkrands get more time on the pitch.
-
I love how he spends the whole game on the edge of the technical area and is totally involved. He definitely isn't one of those managers who think their job is over when the players run out on a matchday. He does stray outside the technical area from time to time though, something he needs to work on.
-
Spot on Nath, I was sitting down at the front of the Gallowgate and every time he got the ball we were up off our seats. Been so long since we had a player as exciting as this. There were also some fans behind me criticising him for losing the ball and not tackling hard enough, but I dismissed them as idiots.
-
Unlucky to be subbed I thought, he was better in the air and on the ground then Ba today.
-
A few terrible bits of defending today, but he's not as much of a liability as I expected. Still need a proper LB as soon as though.
-
He needs to keep fannying out of tackles TBH, that should be a major part of his game.
-
Aye, it annoys me a lot as well... a guy behind me was complaining about 'not pressing their back four' when we were in possession. He basically meant that we weren't getting it forward quick enough. Any fans getting annoyed with patient possession football are idiots IMO. Our style relies on getting the midfield up the pitch with the ball on the ground, to do that you need to keep possesson for longer periods.
-
For some reason this lad attracts a disproportionate amount of criticism IMO. There were a couple of incidents of poor play, but also some good stuff. He needs to learn to use his attributes better, but he's not as terrible as some people suggest. That said, Marveaux is clearly a better player right now.
-
He will lose the ball sometimes, but he brought a totally different feel to our play. He's fearless and he carries the ball forward, he motivates our whole team to do the same. Sure he'll reduce the mistakes when he gets more match sharpness. The sloppy passing I would put down to that mainly.

Really quiet and tense at times today, it was like people only turned up to see us batter Wigan and got frustrated instantly when it didn't happen. Not sure if anything can be done, I suppose it's inevitable that fans need something on the pitch to get them going.
