One of my favourite players ever, was incredible at his peak. As a gangly mofo myself it was a joy to see him move.
-
True, even Best and Shola aren't too bad at finishing simple chances, and Ba looks a machine. Still would want another stiker in, but that's as much for quality improvement than simply goals.
-
He was fit for that whole 06/07 season though apparently, he was just a sub (which is normal/fine). In the following season he was still struggling to break through and made 24 appearances in total (which again isn't that bad), he also had his hamstring nightmare. Last season is a bit more worrying but reading the details of his injury it seems completely different to the hamstring one. Overall, not that worried about his fitness record.

Didn't realise Marveaux's fitness record was that bad TBH, although does one serious injury account for a big chunk of those missed games? Edit: actually reading his wikipedia history it doesn't worry me that much. One major hamstring injury that was misdiagnosed and meant he missed 6 months, then a groin problem a couple of seasons later. Not that worried. [/famouslastwords]

Saying all our goals are gone because Carroll and Nolan have left is woefully simplistic. Carroll is a blow, but it's reasonable to expect that without the immobile Nolan in the team we will be a much more rapid and fluid attacking force. And with a striker expected to arrive we'll be significantly better up front than we were post-Carroll. TBH, Ba is probably a better finisher than Carroll as well, though obviously not necessarily a "better player". He has also been less injured than Carroll in recent times. I'm not saying we'll suddenly tear everyone apart, but there are as many reasons to be optimistic as not IMO.

Details of the fact there's been no bid? Should be gripping.

I wouldn't be too worried about it, anyone who's been to SJP for a decent victory, walked up to the ground among the black and white army, or witnessed us hammer the like of Sunderland and Villa knows that this is a fucking amazing club and a brilliant place to play football. It's just that until we get back into the Premier League elite we will lose a player from time to time, it's just how football works. It seems unusual to us because we don't usually have players that anyone will take.
-
Maybe he's just waiting to see what develops, he's in a good position at the moment. He might not be desperate to actively look for a transfer.
-
I think they'll probably do really well, but that will mainly be because of Carroll and Suarez and not because they've overpaid for average midfielders. If I didn't know any of the fees I would have to say they're all decent signings though, TBF.
-
He's 33, would be a very strange signing for us.
-
Unless you're one of the real elite, you're always a stepping stone for some players.
-
Any cap would have to be at least Europe-wide.

That is scary like, adding in Adam doesn't help either. Although I would have expected more people to back Liverpool's policy, based on the fact we're judging our own transfers on how much money we've spent.
-
Apparently the Young money was to pay for Bent. Don't let anybody hear you say that transfer income can go to support past expenditure, there'll be a riot.
-
Surely if it was as easy as that, Villa would just have bought Zog when they sold Young?
-
What do you mean by "we" though? The fans? Well fans are obviously affected by everything the owner does, it can't be any other way. It would be ridiculous to expect an owner to make mistakes then shield the fans from them by spending more and more of his money, no owner does that (well except the sugar daddies). It's not like if he makes a good decision he keeps all the benefits for himself. Not that that happens very often, obviously.
-
Maybe I'm confusing him with the Spurs fella.
-
Me neither, seems stupid.
-
The global nature of the game is the biggest problem I reckon.
-
Great posts Cronky and toontownman, that sort of stuff needs to be acknowledged more at times.
-
They're backing Kenny to a massive (and slightly terrifying) degree mind. Assuming he has anything to do with these deals.

Premier League - Would a closed league with no relegation be positive..

I don't think football is a sport suited to the draft, would getting the best player make that much of a difference? You would just end up with the best player playing for a shit team for a while. Not that I understand drafts very well. -

Smelly. -
I think they can theoretically reject a transfer request. But it's a strong indication they'll have a disgruntled player on their hands. Also, it must have something to do with their contract and whether the player is entitled to certain bonuses. Personally I think Spurs should tell Chelsea to fuck off.

Think Liverpool's worst signing might turn out to be Adam. If he isn't playing every week he seems the type of lad who could become a porker pretty quickly. Presumably he's convinced them he's prepared to bust a gut to get fitter than ever. Obviously no idea how they'll line up and if he'll start every game like, doubt anyone has.
