I love replica tops and buy them myself, I'm not criticizing the idea of them - just the idea that it's ok to wear a replica jersey just like the players even though you don't play for the team (which in principle is a bit ridiculous really isn't it, I think so anyway, but as I said I love replica tops so no judgement here), but that by sticking a name and number on the back you're suddenly in a completely different ballpark for some reason, which to me seems quite petty. I've always thought putting a name and number implies some sort of hero worship of an individual player, which is a bit different to just expressing support of the team as a whole. I do think it's a bit weird when I see and overweight middle aged man with a name and number on the back, but I guess if you weren't allowed to love certain players then supporting football would be a lot more dull.

I was just saying I didn't think it was a good idea to be spouting off this bollocks in public. I know it doesn't "affect anything", but I wasn't aware this forum was reserved for matters of global significance.

Don't get what you mean, should we not be discussing this unless we love it?

He's lost the plot like... getting a Twitter account was about the worst thing he could have done. Complaining he was playing with Kuqi? Howay Joey, how many seconds was he on the pitch? And having a go at Parker, widely thought of as one of the players of the season - equally stupid. If this is what happens when players are open and honest I'm glad most of them don't say anything.

Can you explain what the home-grown rule is and what it requires? I know the general idea but...

I watched Long a lot when he was first coming through at Reading and apart from scorching pace he seemed to be a poor imitation of Doyle. But TBF to him he was only about 19 at that time, if not younger. When I've seen him recently the improvement is dramatic, his movement is very good, he works his socks off and his finishing is very good. His fitness and athleticism are also top drawer. Can't really say whether he's a one season wonder, last season was definitely his best so I suppose it's possible. Though you could say the same about Andy Carroll and Liverpool paid £35m for him. I just think he has all the right attributes, and those things won't go away. Like I said, £10m might be a but much but for a decent fee I would take a punt on him for sure.
-
I agree, £10m is probably a bit steep for the lad, but if he signs for someone in the Premier League and fulfills his potential you won't be able to buy him for that. For £7m or even 8 I'd be cautiously optimistic he'd be a good signing. The kind of movement he has and runs he makes might be ideal for the likes of Ben Arfa and Cabaye to find.

For me Williamson has performed well enough in the Premier League to suggest he doesn't need to be replaced. You could argue that Taylor has done the same. I would only sign a young CB as cover if we don't think Kadar's talent or fitness will allow him to step up. Maybe next summer if our current CBs haven't progressed and we're looking for European football we could think about buying one, but it wouldn't be the best way to spend our money right now IMO.

Wayne Routledge signs 3 year deal with Swansea

Aye, but for who? -
Also, since when do Arsenal prefer players who are "more direct"?
-
No reason to believe that is there?
-
It was quite a tissue of lies if we weren't interested in Gameiro like. If Mike Ashley really had that ability to mislead people he would be much more popular.
-
Who says we aren't prepared to invest a third of it in a replacement?
-
I know identity and heritage are more complicated, I'm just saying his "nationality" is French.
-
His entire family is Senegalese. He is Senegalese. He could be exiled from his country and move to Beijing, he will still be from Senegal. Disagree, he might be of Senegalese descent but he's French. He was born in France and lived there his whole life.
-
TBF I didn't know is background until I looked it up, I always thought he was Senegalese as well.
-
If he was born in France, and lived in France most of his life, I'd say it's fair to say he's French. Saying he's Senegalese is a bit like saying Robbie Earle is Jamaican.

That rope climbing adventure playground thing was incredible. Basically made my childhood! Me and my friends went in when we were 17 for a laugh , most embarrasing thing ive ever done. Monty Zoomers. Yeah, it was called something else before that as well but I can't remember now. Seemed absolutely huge when I was little, but I never went back when I was 17!
-
It's totally a fair target TBH. I just mocked it because it had something to do with the mackems.

Love that kit like, might be tempted to get one.
-
I've decided my 37 shirt is going to make me look credible and a long-time fan, rather than behind the times.
-
Well, obviously.
-
Who's he signing for next summer like?
-
Guessing absolutely nobody would buy the third kit if it was released after the second.
