Bosingwa is quality as well IMO. I would have thought Drogba is just as likely to go as Anelka.

True, there's just something about pretending to be fouled/hurt when you aren't that goes against everything sport is supposed to be about. For me, I believe professional fouling should be harshly punished but it is diving that's the biggest threat to the the game. Seeing grown men, professional athletes, rolling around holding their faces when they've barely been touched is an absolute disgrace.

Football's greatest - where does Lionel Messi rank?
AyeDubbleYoo replied to Dave's topic in Football
His balance is what gets me, side to side all the time... and every time he looks like he'll fall over he keeps going. -
Don't agree his teams lack discipline really, they just tried to beat Barca by outmuscling and defending them and so they inevitably pick up lots of soft bookings in the gay world of European football.

Closest to the chicken dance I could find. If you'd told me a year ago that I would be happy Kevin Nolan is signing a new contract, I wouldn't have believed you. Still think we should be starting to plan for life without him in the team in the medium-term, but a great lad and a motivating factor for the group of lads.

Liverpool v NUFC Pre-match thread (01/05/2010 - 12 KO)

As long as he's paired with Tiote he usually does OK. Only Nolan + Guthrie in midfield actually = loss. -
Mourinho was on a hiding to nothing TBF, nobody has come up with a way of beating Barca that is better than his gritty defensive one. The sending off was crazy, yes he lost it a bit in the media but we all know he does that a lot.

Not too long before diving ruins top-flight football IMO, can't understand why the authorities won't do something about it.
-
I always preferred Iniesta's style of play but Xavi gets better the more I watch him.
-
I've honestly no idea what's going on in the 'gaffa' one!
-
He did look OK, but he's no use if he's always going to be injured. A knee followed by thigh followed by ankle doesn't bode well.
-
He won't be cheap though.. in terms of salary at least Well if he isn't we probably won't buy him, so I wouldn't worry about that!

If Pardew is told to lie on the regime's behalf will he do it, yes or no? Not just a slight mistruth by the way but a complete whopper I don't know, I guess it depends what the issue is. He obviously would have to resign if he disagreed with Ashley on everything, but it's not as black and white as that. And also, who's to say that any manager wouldn't tell the media the party line? I'm sure it happens all the time. Pretty much the squirming, non-committal reply I expected The answer is yes by the way, THAT'S WHY HE GOT THE JOB You flatterer you. FWIW I think the truth is that Ashley doesn't really care what Pardew says to the press, and they have very few conversations about it. By default he is part of NUFC and therefore THE EVIL REGIME though, so he'll obviously be likely to defend it.

He's looked brilliant whenever I've seen him, which is only 5 or 6 times TBF. As with all Football League players though, I've no idea how to judge if he'll make it in the Premier League.

Pardew is just more open and confident with the press, to take that and use it to suggest he's just Mike Ashley's PR man is a step too far IMO. It's just how he his, he answers more questions than Hughton and is more conversational with the media. I don't see the point in pulling apart one or two wrong statements he's made, you could do that with any manager.
-
If he'd played the last 6 games I think we would definitely have signed him, so if he's now injured that probably only reduces that to "we'll probably sign him" TBH.

Olympics Ticketing Process cost £5M to build. I don't think you'll find a football club willing to spend that amount True, but they also only have to sell one thing, tickets for one football match a week. You could build a professional and usable website for NUFC's needs for a fraction of that.

Come on man: - We have no idea what effect his comments to Ranger have had. - Nobody really knows return dates for players except roughly. - He had to say that about Carroll not going. - It's not up to him to decide how much of the Carroll money will be spent, people are reading far too much into the "back into the team" quotes anyway. I'll give you the Beckham one, that was slightly ridiculous. But you could go through quotes from any Premier League manager or player (or even journalist probably) and find hundreds of things like this.

I wish people comprehend better about this fact I wish the original post or the response made sense.
-
I just read on BBC that he might play against Liverpool.
-
Yes, but he can easily afford not to worry about the extra cost of renting.
-
True but the example of selling the whole team is a stupid pointless exaggeration Yeah, course it is.
-
I know what Venkman is driving at, at some point we will have to start rejecting fairly attractive bids. But I do think the Carroll deal falls into the "too good to turn down" category.

When Hughton was appointed a lot of people were opposed to him because he was seen as a 'yes man'. Like it or not, Mike Ashley controls NUFC and we are better off with a manager that he trusts and wants to work with than one he doesn't. The manager can't be constantly fighting the owner or always blindly saying yes to him, it has to be about teamwork. Anyway, back to Jose Enrique, he's definitely staying!
