Totally, it makes me shudder to think back to how terrible we were last time we were in this division. We can't suddenly go back to easily beating the likes of Fulham and Blackburn.

I'm getting a bit sick of having to post "what a load of bollocks" after every press article. Should just leave it on my clipboard.

If Chelsea is an example of how to spend mega money well, then at the moment City seem to be an example of what not to do. Some of the players they've signed are average at best, and the others don't seem to be bothered. That said, eventually they will sign so many world class players that they're bound to win the league.

Brilliant skill by Elmander at the weekend, really wish there was more stuff like that in the Premier League.

You don't think he should be replaced in the summer then? depends what happens between now and then, pretty much goes for every manager in the league, yes that includes ferguson and wenger. No it doesn't. yes it does. if they make massive f*** ups between now and then and massivly underperform (granted it's unlikely they'd do that). Aye, if they molested the chairman's wife or something. But you can't really be saying that anything that could realistically happen on the pitch in one season could lead to Fergie or Wenger getting sacked? I'd love to hear an example! easy, say for example ferguson falls out with certain players (he has done in the past) which leads to them finishing below half way and he demands monies for players that the board aren't willing to give him (which reportedly happened after the sale of ronaldo) Hmm, maybe. He would have to do a lot of damage to get Man Utd to finish that low, and even then he would probably be given another chance (unless he decided to retire). But I see what you're saying.

It's not a one way thing though. It's sad that we don't feel able to get behind the team as a collective when "oh it's only Blackburn". I don't agree with it, I would personally sing throughout no matter what. I'm just trying to put my finger on the majority attitude. We would have a lot more points on the board if we made the atmosphere like Sunderland every week, but it's not realistically going to happen is it? Not like sunderland no, but there's no reason we can't try and intimidate the opposition is there? Singing's only a small part of what makes a good atmosphere. The thing that sparks SJP into life more than anything these days is a refereeing injustice or an opposition player being a cunt which gets folks' backs up. Have you been to the Britannia Stadium? I know, I want us to do it, I just don't think it will happen unless we have a couple of seasons of real success and a couple of flair players to really excite. I haven't been to the Brittania.

Even the singing section has its disadvantages TBH, when I'm there I'm a bit embarrassed by how quickly they turn on the team when they're not playing well. I think it's just what football grounds are like now though... I've been to a lot of away games in the last couple of seasons and I've never really come across a home support that is consistently noisy and supportive, I don't think it exists. Fans go to see something to excite them, if it happens they'll cheer and if not they won't.

He was dropped prematurely as well, can't have helped his confidence. Hopefully with Simpson behind him rather than Perch he should be able to attack with a bit more conviction.

He should go to London, where there are no temptations for young lads. -
Onouha? (sp) Oh aye.
-
Who are the other English RBs though? Johnson and Richards, that's it.

Worst. Article. Ever. -
i didn't, i looked at most of the prem and thought we are as good as those (ie the boltons, wolves, west ham, birminghams, sunderlands etc.) Good on you. I was more worried about how shocking most of our players looked the last time they were in the Premier League.
-
BTW, let's bear in mind that we expected to struggle in pretty much every game, home and away.
-
Course I'm not, but I also don't mind where the points come from as long as we collect them. Our home and away records aren't that different... we've struggled against a few ordinary teams but I wouldn't say it's time to panic.
-
Is "violent conduct" not a matter of opinion though? I don't know the letter of the law, but is it impossible for anything to be violent if it uses the feet and resembles a tackle?
-
Yep, I'll third that. Lawro has us down for a win, that's good enough for me!
-
But playing poorly at home doesn't detract from some brilliant performances away... I don't get it.
-
I think Spurs should buy a central midfielder TBH, they've only got 74 of those.
-
Yes, players expect injuries when they go on the pitch, but they also expect the game to be played relatively fairly and without deliberate attempts to injure. If I was a builder and I pushed my mate of a roof, I couldn't just say "aye well he knew the risks of being a builder". It would be attempted murder. Slightly extreme example, but you see what I'm saying!
-
I don't think that means much in reality. What's the difference between a player who loses his temper or gets frustrated and flies into a dangerous tackle, and one who gives someone a dig in the ribs? I know I would rather have Barton punch me fairly lightly in the chest than Nigel de Jong shatter my leg in two places, for example.
