I thought we might never win anything, but more because of our club and our team playing resources than our manager. If Howe isn’t an elite manager then I’m not sure what one would look like. I mean that quite literally, I can’t imagine a better set of attitudes and behaviours than what this guy practices.

Not to mention his footballing body.

Started right back at the beginning of the game really, with all those little headers by Trippier back to the keeper. We just had the perfect attitude that we were here to be deadly serious, dominate Liverpool and win.

Hmm, I wouldn't say so. The ban was obviously a setback and a low point but I never had any doubt he was a class player and would come good. Partly because he's fundamentally a great player and partly because of how well NUFC managed the situation.

Not spending time thinking about this, but you're right there is probably not an obvious destination. Makes no sense to me that he would go to a PL club anyway, or that we would allow that.

His reading of the game, both on the pitch and the context, is crazy for such a young player. And he combines it with running around like a madman too.

Definitely agree, there’s something in his brain that doesn’t always switch on Hopefully this is a learning moment and he can really appreciate now what it takes to be a winner.

Yeah, TBH part of me thought that the League Cup wouldn't feel major, but I was an idiot. Feels like a weight off the whole club and levelling-up of how we can think of ourselves.
