Allan Saint-Maximin (now playing for Fenerbahce, on loan from Al-Ahli)

Think is a bit harsh, it's pretty clear that he's trying to play with the team a lot more. And work harder running back. He also creates loads of chances, just other people tend to miss them. Obviously after a game like last night it seems like we don't need him, and maybe ultimately we won't, but I definitely think he has tried to come along for the ride. -
The first half was an exercise in showing grit and managing the occasion. Of course we were a bit untidy and gave the ball away under pressure, but it was always going to be a scrappy game. I firmly believe we were fully prepared for that first half and it went pretty much as expected. Maybe when we're as good as Man City we can just play our way through those moments, but most teams have to just dig in and battle. Whenever we had the ball you could see we were still trying to play as much as we could.

I've been a little unlucky, Pope, Schar and Isak could easily have returned another handful of points last night. Really just trying to get to the end of the season now, not playing next year.

Keane was shocking all game, but that moment was really cruel

He's been really trying to get on board the Howe train IMO, maybe his body just can't take the strain. I'd probably give him a full pre-season working on strength and stability etc. But even as I'm typing that I'm wondering whether it will really make any difference :/ -
Changing room looks dire

They're really struggling at the moment. The combination of terrible laws and bad implementation of VAR really makes them look bad. There also seems to be some sort of directive about free kicks and yellow cards that they're taking too far and implementing very randomly. Seemingly you can now clearly stop a counter with a deliberate foul and not get a card, it's really weird. I basically believe the officials themselves are as capable as anyone can be, but the whole setup is just wreaking havoc.

I was worried that he was good under Bruce because he was given no tactics and no responsibility apart from to crash the box. But he’s really responded to Howe and he’s growing all the time. It’s going to be really hard to replace Willock or Joelinton with someone better.

Everton themselves spent absolutely tons. That’s football, question is if you spend it well and have the right structure in place to get the max out of the players.

Luckily it’s not a problem now, it’s more a problem of whether to keep or sell. -
It was so strange on BT… like watching it on Everton fan TV. As we got better they just got more and more depressed
-
Thought he was class tonight, would’ve had him in the MOTM conversation.
-
Looked like Wilson would have scored instead if it hadn’t deflected.

For normal people you don’t usually do ankle surgery unless normal rehab fails. Not sure about footballers obviously, but hopefully he doesn’t need surgery.

Genuinely could be another murder, although three games at that intensity would be some achievement. Isak to repay me for captaining him this week by scoring 3. -
It took me a while to appreciate him because he’s quite an unusual CM. But he’s playing out of his skin at the moment and just getting better every week. The volley was absolutely outrageous.
-
Even in the warmup and lining up he looked by far the calmest and most focused. Had a brilliant game.

Was incredibly impressed tonight, maybe even more so than Spurs. There was no way around the storm that was coming at the start, so we understood it and we battled through. You could see we were trying to play whenever we could. Of course it’s the previous games that give the players that kind of confidence to stay calm, but the level of preparation on every level is just immense.

The mad thing about it is that visually nothing really changes about his body or his gait. He just disappears past people with no warning and it doesn’t look like he’s trying
-
If can avoid major injuries he’s really going right to the very top.
-
If it wasn’t Everton I would feel sorry for them like. That first big relegation really hurts.

I still didn’t believe he was going to hit the target with his left
