Aye you could be right, I can’t remember the details of all the crosses. I just think sometimes people who get credit who put in theoretically dangerous balls which aren’t actually dangerous in practice.

Yeah most likely. It’s also all that Murphy is capable of doing and clearly his biggest strength, so if he plays it kind of has to happen.

Will Osula: Goal vs Man United nominated for PL Goal of the Season

I thought Osula was becoming a bit more trusted before he got injured. -

A fair few people don't even pick up the flags TBH -

I wouldn't go that far, I still think it's a good show of support and I'm sure it boosts the players as well. We just can't rely on it creating a good atmosphere actually during the match. Also I'm sure the same people doing the flags are the people trying to get songs going. -

It's crazy really, just makes me think that the default condition of football fans is to be unhappy no matter what. -

Said it before, the flags are amazing but they don't really impact the atmosphere during the game in any meaningful way. It's just not realistic. The flags go away and everyone resumes their normal behaviour. -
I really don't believe that football clubs make transfer decisions based on tweets and Chronicle articles. I hope not anyway

It's very easy for people like Murphy to cross early and say they've done their job. Maybe they have done their job if that's what the coaches are telling them. But it's a failure of the team/tactics overall if we're not putting the right kinds of moves to together to create chances for our forwards. I wouldn't say it's just the CF's job to play differently. Commentators are also terrible for praising 'great balls' that really have no chance in resulting in a goal. Hard to say since we don't know what they're being asked to do.

The emerging consensus was basically that corners were so bad statistically that they really shouldn’t be considered a good chance to score. Guess the same applies to shooting from free kicks, but the thing that stats can’t capture is the value of a completely free kick, even if the result is relatively unlikely to be good. And teams seem to have got better at corners.

Top post @timeEd32, really interesting. Kind of squares with how weird the football has been this season. Having a team winning the league relying on set pieces is very odd. Do we have any sense of why this trend is happening? Is it just the trend towards long throws etc, or most teams moving away from the possession game maybe?

Bobb for £35m seems way too good for only Fulham to want it. Unless there’s more that makes the deal unpalatable. He’s exactly the technical type of midfielder/wide player that would take us up a level.

Wouldn’t mind the timer for throws. Also would like a mark on the touchline where the ball went out.

Newcastle United vs. PSV Eindhoven: 21/1/26 @ 20:00 (TNT Sport)

Would love to see Osula back in the mix soon, just freshen things up a bit and add a chaos factor. Actually was starting to think his injury was cover for something else, but maybe it wasn’t. -
Not a chance in the world. Sure it's only black or African players that get linked to random moves to Turkey as well. Weird.

People in general massively underestimate the importance of fixtures when telling the story of a season. You really shouldn't be able to say a team is in good or bad form without a mention of how hard their games have been. I mean this when we're doing badly as well as when we're doing well. And for rival clubs as well.

Is this another one?

You would be crazy if you weren't looking forward to it TBH. What's the point in being a Newcastle fan if you weren't? -
Well not a generous way to put it, but our squad was desperately weak for the amount of competitions we were going to be in. I feel like it’s pretty clear that the aim was to raise the overall quality of the squad. We also didn’t know that Wissa and Ramsey would be injured and Elanga would be shit.
-
TBF he has turned his man and been brought down probably once or twice a game recently, he just didn't get the free kick.
-
Be serious man, of course he's of use to us. He's in poor form on the ball but he's working hard and he's contributing. Asking him to play RB is just silly and won't help anything.

We signed a younger CB and we tried to sign at least a couple of top keepers as well by all accounts. It’s not like we don’t know what we need to do.
