Makes me so jealous when I see footballers training or training ground behind the scenes stuff. Must be incredible to have those facilities to support you and help you perform. I couldn’t get the webcam I wanted because it was over budget.

I mean, pretty much anywhere in greater Newcastle there’s loads of land. It’s just the site of SJP where there isn’t.

Playing at home first is definitely much worse, especially against a team that could overturn basically any scoreline.

Hmm, not sure about his country, he could easily surpass VVD soon although I don't know who else he's competing with. I mean, you've name the best 2 clubs in the country there so it's not too shameful that he wouldn't necessarily start there. He could play at that level though, that was my main point.

This is a really good example of how fans and professional think differently about football. As if there was any prospect of a football club letting the contract of a top-quality CB run down just because he's been injured.

Yeah, I always find it interesting how they allow people in general sale to buy multiple tickets anyway. Kind of feel like when you queue you should only be able to buy 1. Would exacerbate the lonely experience of going to the match of course

FWIW I guess not matching the ticket name doesn’t necessarily mean touting or anything dodgy. Can just be people who couldn’t go and a friend went, or bought for a fan who doesn’t have a membership etc. Not that everyone would agree with those justifications obviously.

None of the normal staff will do ID checks, it must be a roaming dedicated team.

Things being out of stock feels like a very new thing in capitalism. Can’t help but wonder if they just can’t manufacturer enough or get it shipped reliably, so they flip into a scarcity angle in order to seem cool rather than unable to satisfy demand. I don’t even bother with stuff I think will sell out, can’t be bothered.

Aye sorry, I worked it out after more reading. Didn't actually know they did any ID checks at home games.

Is that saying that 80%+ of ID checks were failed? So nearly everyone going to an away game is going on someone else's ticket? Must be missing something but it reads like that. Edit: ah, just seen it's home games, so I guess they're only checking people who are already suspicious?

Not a good time to make this argument, but when fit and in form I would have him absolutely being able to play for anyone in the league. He's class, when available. I'd say Thiaw is more likely to end up a sub than Botman, even though I love him too.

Or ban those people for giving money to Mike Ashley.

Think a lot of people really disliked him before he came and didn’t think he was a good signing. Some hangover from that lack of affection IMO. There are people in all camps of course.

People never really liked Gordon TBH. Possibly also the attachment to Burn makes us underrate Botman.

Like I said, I'm not saying I like the options. But in Howe's mind he can.

I think he has been our best CB at points, not for long enough though obviously. There were a few times when Burn was keeping him out mainly due to non-playing qualities IMO (rightly or wrongly). No CB looks good in a really open game with multiple attackers running directly at them really. Especially when knackered and returning from injury. Still don't think there's much evidence for actual quality decline from Botman individually. He saved a goal off the line, for example.
