I just don’t think he has a position and never have. He was good under Bruce because his job was just to get in the box and win matches for us. He’ll never be tidy enough to be a central midfielder in this league. I can see him occupying a freer role in a team with lower ambitions I guess. But even for Fulham he’s quite far away from the likes of Iwobi and Wilson.

The whole point of supporting Howe is that you think he has a good chance of not being shit next season. I’m not exactly all in on Barnes but TBH I’d accept if you told me he would start next season in our forward line and we’d spend our money elsewhere.

We are also a vehicle of PIF and the Saudi state, who I reckon don’t want to go around the western world breaking the rules of the markets they operate in and having legal battles with the people they work with.

It’s fairly pointless making Joelinton fly all over the world when everyone else is at the World Cup I guess. The vision and progress of the club really means we have to have a good season next time, so whatever it takes to help that happen is the right move.

I don’t think the PL really has a reputation driver, same as it doesn’t have an overall strategy to make the product as attractive as possible. If they did they wouldn’t stop clubs signing players at all IMO, they would want as much money flowing through the PL as physically possible. The PL’s problem is it’s a member’s club with the aim of maintaining stability - protecting the top few members and allowing the bottom few to stay in it cheaply.

Yep, it’s very depressing. I guess we do have feeder clubs effectively now but they just don’t officially exist for that purpose.
