  1. Never suggested they have turned down any sponsors fan advisory board minutes from last summer pointed to training kit and training ground sponsors next stadium naming rights a little more complex. We are 11 months on from those minutes and I have yet to hear anything is close. These are the easy wins I am talking ones which next in line to bring the most in commercially that other prem top 6 sides have. The club can't compete with wages and have had multiple windows of lack of signings part of that was the need to invest heavily however the other thing holding us back is commercial revenue these sponsors being left "on the table" hinder us.
  2. I don't like him as a loud mouth who talks over the 2 mild ones who actually go to press conferences. However he is right no new training ground, thin executive posts, the stadium decision which unfortunately according to the press has been "immenent" since 6 months ago, the lack of "easy" sponsors. He hit the nail on the head with the point that the squad is on a further along place than the club is to support it in terms of champions league wages. This can all easily be resolved with1 or 2 announcements but very very slow going.
  3. That or the stack been making mad money or some juicy sponsors are being announced this summer ?
  4. It might be more money now less in add ons but similar fee overall?
  5. Agreed although if we sign 4 this window and 3 are under 24 and one is 28 or 29 and buying older is the compromise to stretch the budget I guess that's the compromise we would have to live with. We can't do it in every position as we have a fairly old squad and psr as mentioned but callum was 33? So getting someone 3 or 4 years younger is still bringing the squad age down.
  6. Not saying your wrong but depends who is running the ship Howe never had an issue with older players Burn, Woods, Trips to a lesser extent Barnes (coming into peak age) Directors of football wanted to lower the age of the squad but are no longer here. Maybe if they can get 3 or 4 years out of a player then that's precived value worth it without a resale. Not saying it's a wise model in a psr world but maybe the club feel it can be done in a backup position while osula isn't ready and allows for a larger range of potential targets.
  7. I Must have been asleep when Forrest tried last year with a 22m bid. https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/13293472/nottingham-forest-transfer-news-club-make-bid-for-brentford-striker-yoane-wissa-having-enquired-last-summer He's 29 in September could in theory give us 3 to 5 good years but could fall off a cliff as he gets older. Hard to put a value on him maybe 30/35 is reasonable?

    Nick Pope

A couple of million for dubs and wages off the books for the Greek fella or goodness knows a loan fee and would be happy for Pope as backup issue is would he be happy potentially being a backup if Trafford comes and then performs well.
  9. I am sure i read or saw a stat that big joe over the last two years has missed about 30% games. Edit found the article i maybe saw it from https://www.newcastleworld.com/sport/football/newcastle-united/does-worrying-joelinton-injury-stat-force-newcastle-united-into-transfer-rethink-5152160?fbclid=IwY2xjawLZ3uxleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHgRYjF32l4Ng-vGBWRcWtLjpewx_OmtvrrE-4wSZPyOsm4KzeAIPHiF5gZWS_aem_3FTZePv8e76rDIaji4A9qw
  10. I dunno why as a none numbers person I am replying but he's reported to be on 50k a week so around 2.6m wages saved and 10m profit. In theory if you split someone over 5 years it's maybe a 40/50m player but his fee only covers year 1 of that deal so in future years the money needs to be generated from elsewhere. So if we can get someone in for 25/30m the longstaff may cover a couple of years of that transfer. Obviously someone will reply better than my poor explanation/guess.
  11. If he's instead of that no.10, front 3 cover player that sounds like a good idea then it's a hard no. If it's him and still that player then yes due to fixtures he's a body who Howe may get a better tune out of. Long 3 or 4 year contracts on a player no one was willing to pay money for as his contract ran down isn't someone I want sticking around on high wages and a long deal.
  12. If the add ons are subject to Leeds staying up it's technically 10m. I thought 15m based on him being 27 with alot of game experience but if we aren't batting them away and if the player prefers local to Newcastle then Leeds could be a good fit. 10m doesn't buy you a replacement though but midfield would need to be a postion to look at even if willock now stays.
  13. what we need and what we get are clearly two different prospects media reports of 100/125m before player sales and needing to bid 55/60 for Elanga and 25/35 for Trafford doesnt leave alot of room for a RCB and back up striker let alone midfield recruitment which I suspect will only be subject of willock and longstaff going anyway likewise LB would only be reviewed on Targett going.
  14. So do you think he means a 10 that can play up top or someone who can play across the front 3? No idea what sort of player you could get to do that and how much they would cost. I guess being versatile means we can fit them into the starting 11 more often.
  15. agreed however giving a 3 year deal on possibly high wages to a player who hasn't cut it for a number of years doesn't really fill me with confidence. Isak was regularly gassed at 60 mins and with the number of games I could see a worth while back up picking up regular mins and quite a number of starts, obviously selling that to a player may be difficult. I guess the issue is the budget and the other areas we need to sign anyone good will be a lot of money or will have something that will make them a risk and lower there transfer fee, the "one injury away from you having to lead the line" is a powerful motivator to a fan to want to go out and get someone good but to a player with an ego its not a guarantee of mins at all.
  16. certainly not going to reject your outlook as its your own opinion however its equally right for people to be worried/angry that we are looking to work at snail pace with less than "willing" sellers when we have loads to do and not a lot of time to do it but had a long time to think and plan for it based on lack of activity for so long. The fact that these "close" and "immanent" quotes are used and never materialise feed the narrative of the club acting too slowly and maybe not walking away and moving on in a timely fashion if these are looking to go around in circles, obviously putting a heavy dose of assumptions here.
  17. Agreed but your missing a lot of context in terms of why people are the way they are "reported" public rejections, "reported" under bidding and "reported" missing out on targets, no first 11 improvements in 18 months, upheaval at board/management level, the managers own comments about working quickly, the fact first batch of players are back for preseason. The sheer level of improvement needed to the side and player traded needed to give the manager the tools they need to survive and do well in a potentially 60 game season. If we had of not had some of that go on until now I would be sitting here very chill saying there are 7 weeks+ of the window left, not a load of movement elsewhere and plenty of time. The issue is all of the above has happened (how much is true and how much its actually held us back is anyone's guess). Hopefully a couple in the door that aren't goal keepers will make people chill out more.
  18. There is plenty of time but a long list of things to still grow the concern. Howe saying speed is key and nothing still Lack of first team additions in 18 months. Aging squad with more fixtures next year. CEO going and sporting director gone meaning deal pushers and makers gone. Going for targets assuming they were first choice and missing out. Offering deals to Ruddy and Wilson for some reason. Press now saying limited budget but 4 or 5 key areas needed. First round of players due to return next week and no "breakthrough". Lack of communication now bar Howe who can't answer it all. Lack of news on sponsors talked about last August. Lack of news on "imminent" stadium decision. None of it is really bed wetting but gets glued together to fuel a fairly grim narrative even if it is in our heads.
  19. I think for me it's not that they aren't doing great but in a world where every penny counts and the fans have done their part getting behind paid memberships/stack/clothing etc etc it's all ultimately lead to no new immediate first 11 signings in 3 windows and us needing to sell players to comply. Again not saying enough isn't being done or I am not happy with on field progress just that these small things MAY have saved us from selling 2 prospects would have been lovely. Basically I don't want the club to come out and say that they are skint and can't do X Y Z because of income (they haven't said that just saying if they ever do) when training ground, kit and who knows what else could have been secured for some fee.
  20. quotes from last August: It’s long been discussed amongst fans that our lack of a training ground sponsor is a potential revenue stream that we are leaving on the floor. Speaking to the Shields Gazette, Silverstone spoke about the need for calm around a deal: “Everyone thinks that because some clubs have a training ground sponsor that they fall from the trees. You have to pick the right partner, get the right values, the right fit and it takes time. But obviously, my job and the job of the team behind me is to maximise the opportunity in every area, whether that’s retail, whether that’s media, whether that’s membership, whether that’s retail, whether that’s partnerships. We’re looking at all opportunities. I’m aware of what everyone thinks should or shouldn’t be sold. I also know what we are working on and trying to deliver. I’ve worked in sports, marketing sports, sponsorship for over 20 years.” The process isn’t as easy as just slapping on some advertising boards, and collecting your tens of millions, of course. Silverstone is an experienced man, as he went on to confirm: “I’ve worked in the Premier League for 10 years. No sponsorship deal is easy, none. It doesn’t matter if you’re whatever club you are in the hierarchy of Premier League or European football. Every sponsorship deal takes time. It’s about two businesses, two brands coming together and partnering and they don’t just fall from trees. Our job is to make sure we now maximise the value and the future value of Newcastle United.” While a deal isn’t expected to be announced any time soon, the club have made progress. As deals for Adidas and the opening of STACK took priority, the club has had interest, something Silverstone confirmed: “Yeah, absolutely. It’s about what you’ve got to prioritise as well. You can’t go after everything at once. So you’ve got to prioritise an incredible kit launch with Adidas and it’s maximising that opportunity, the opening of STACK, which is taking hundreds of people, a huge amount of time and effort to get this delivered by the beginning of the season. So everything takes time. We’re growing truly, steadily and trying to maximise all the opportunities you’ve mentioned and others.”
  21. Because it's a obvious "quick win" to get might not be a budget booster as not well versed on what other sides get but the more we bring in the more better wages we can offer to talent we want to keep etc. Also even if it was 3m a year we have done without for 3 years so could have brought in 9/10m more. Maybe lumping training ground and kit sponsor under 1 company may attract a better sponsor fee.
  22. Not knocking a new link with a dodgy source one but looking at this unwilling sellers even at massive fees with loads looking doesn't sound like a slam dunk https://www.getfootballnewsfrance.com/2025/marseille-unwilling-to-sell-leonardo-balerdi-despite-interest-from-premier-league/
  23. Its not the big ticket stuff that sponsors are clamouring for but as debated we have had none at all for years. The club were actively looking as mentioned in the fan stuff last year. Unless we can sign something massive to make up for it holding out now for say 10m a season when we could have got say 4m 3 seasons ago (just to confirm plucking figures out if fresh air here). Also as debated previously signing something short term as a stop gap unless it would be used as a way to limit a new deal down the line could have helped the bottom line in the here and now.
  24. Club are busy at the Mitchell leaving lunch so nowt to report
