  1. This isn't Inter Milan or Lazio you know. This is just a dressed up pub side and anyone who can kick a ball is welcome. dont forget positively seeking out players that have brittle bone syndrome but demand over 60 grand a week
  2. I still dont know except the bungs thing hanging over him how the hell a muppet like mclaren got the job over him. Hopefully if it all goes to plan he will see out his full contract and if he does leave do the one thing that bob didnt get right and leave us at the right stage to be taken onwards by someone and not demolished and built back up again
  3. I often think how much of affect having the owner and chairman both having no footballing background if thats good for sams tenure or not. Those with a footballing knowledge may see that Sam needs a transitional season or so due to needing to over hall and back him 100% as long as we dont seem to be going backwards and in that sense its so far so good. Or it may be a bad thing as in they go off the will of the masses and a stuttering season may get them itchy fingers but we will be back to square one as if we dont get a good base then most good managers or what we all seem to crave "top class" will only come for the money as will the players and I fear we will be completing just another cycle
  4. 7 GAMES MAN, 7 GAMES. Btw I have said time and time again our football hasn't been the best and that our performances have been poor so there is no blind eye or straw clutching from me. Just realism that a new team can't turn it on from the off and most certainly not after a few games. What are you dribbling on about, he bought flair players at Bolton and some very high profile ones too yet you claim he won't do the same for us? And the reason Bolton can't fill their stadium is because they are a shitty small town club with shitty fans in the same way Blackburn, Boro, Wigan and even Reading can't fill theirs either, not because the football is shite or even because ticket prices are sky high. Allardyce changed his way of thinking every season at Bolton fwiw, hence them improving every season. Again to suggest he won't at Newcastle is reactionary shite. Buying Anelka, which you conveniently ignore, was a bold and progressive move on Big Sam's behalf. Did you see some of their football last season? Bolton 2-0 Liverpool Newcastle 1-2 Bolton (they tore us to pieces in the second half) Bolton 3-1 Arsenal Bolton 4-0 West Ham Bolton 3-2 Portsmouth Arsenal 1-1 Bolton Wigan 1-3 Bolton Chelsea 2-2 Bolton Impressive wins and performances that suggest they were more than a long ball team full of grafters. teams don't pick up them kind of wins or feature in those kind of high scoring games if all they can do is huff and puff. And only now we can how much of a linch pin SA was at Bolton same players alot of the same backroom staff a manager that had plenty of time to see how it works and to learn and improve on sam's techniques and the club are like a big pile of stinking shit from front to back at the moment Anelka with his general class being one of the only few exceptions. Giving Sam time just like we did wore bob is the only way to see a true picture of the guys class or middle of the roadness
  5. I think what makes me feel good more than the last two ( I know I could pick a long list) but I really dont look at any team and fear getting a hammering off anyone, yes we will loose games but with souey and rodent I feared a scoreline of 5/6 we were that unorganised/unmotivated/talented in some area's think we need to poll if people what ugly football with regular good results or sharpe entertaining football and being alot more unpredictable
  6. that has always come to mind when we keep seeing own get injured now I always think back to the "good old days" germany result, goal against the argies owen putting 3-4 past us every time we faced pool. He does seem a shodow now of what I remember like most expect a prime to be maybe 24-28 or 26-30 owen's was 18-22
  7. prefer Bellamy getting the ball and running into Taylor who does a perfectly timed tackle, Bellamy loosing his rag pushing him and being sent off or ala jenas getting the ball clear on open goal and shooting wide
  8. lets hope that IF we dont win there will be at least some positives to take from the game unlike the sucker punch most have gotten from the Derby defeat. I personally feel positive we can beat them home soil, some back from injury and SA not wanting to repeat what happened on monday night is enough motivation needed as far as I'm concerned.
  9. I dunno where the old thread is about season expectations but it would be interesting to see the people that put top 5/top 6 here we come against the pople aiming for a top half/top 8 finish. I for one predicted a top 8 finish and would be satisfied with a top 10 finish personally the league is very good at the moment every team are strengthened and as much as I hate to loose as was mentioned before "lesser" teams have won against the bigger clubs i.e villa beating chelski. We have to get over this and if we were to win comfortably against westham would most of this doom talk end? I think so
  10. I think the toon is like a rollercoaster, one week we are talking about footballing legends in the making and the next week we are talking about wanting to rip the badge from their chests and send them packing back to the play ground part time clubs. One loss does not = one season was the performance poor? most certainly was the manager having an off day? possibly was the home side playing like they wanted it more? probably this does not mean we can wash our hands of the club as I know most on here will still be putting there two penneth worth in game in game out for the hole season. I've always thought the biggest test to SA tenure is not the big wins or the massive results it will be when we go on a 3-4 game run of losses/scrapes and see how he copes thats the making of a good manager the manager that can see past this week or this month and work on an overall view of how things are.
  11. Yeh, thats what i think and i dont like it, i cant beleive we finally have the headache of keepind 3 maybe 4 "immense" CB happy. (i use the term immense in light of what we have had in the past) I just think Cacapa wont ant to stay, i think Taylor is dead cert to start. In fairness though we are trying to build a side to handle player injuries and resting over worked players before they break down, regardless if he does turn into a back up as many said I would rather be in a position as a manager to make these choices (or feel easier resting a player) than think shit what kids can we throw into the mix which can potentially harm their development.
  12. nufcjmc

    Kieron Dyer

i wish he would just go, replace him and then forget he was here, if he does well else where many will say it was the fresh start he needed, if he does badly it will be a fantastic "get the shit out" clear out move by sam we cant loose to be fair!
  13. anything going tits up would usually be taken up by creditors so things would have to stand you would probably just owe the money to some bugger else.
  14. everton win for me put some pressure on jol can see it being a draw though
  15. hate "the brothers" with a passion dont want him here but would love a carr replacement
  16. more likely he see's this as another mind game tactic seen as they won the prem last season and seem to be the "team to beat" this season. fergie recons bigging up the teams who could float around 6-10th to put pressure on spuds, pool, arse and chelski. Obviously even with a fantastic start we will no doubt still have a cool period scraping win's loosing maybe 2-3 in a row it will happen and it all comes down to wether you believe him cause you want to or wether there is a note of "wink wink nudge nudge look at that toon side" in the back of his mind.
  17. I'm happy with his signing I can see how it may seem like an anti climax to people hoping we would go big on one signing this summer. I guess if someone was to tell me we were signing smith as a replacement for say sibierski I would be over the moon as I think many would be. So we are not signing a world beater so what, as Sam has said before saying to a player this summer "we have no european football on offer and there is no garentee we will get in again at the end of the season" some players will turn their noses up just on that basis and I would rather we did not offer them a golden nuget by signing another 5 players on 80,90,100+ thou a week the club has suffered enough from high profile signings that get shown up by the cheaper "more motivated" players.
  18. the smith deal will either work or flop but seen as the climate at the moment is for english players to have an inflated price if everton can get 4m back for james "new shearer my arse" beattie then it is a worth while gamble. He does good im sure he is only 26 he does badly we flog him on for 3-4m and only make a small loss.
  19. he came to them as a striker, fergie descided to make him keane's replacement even though he had shown no signs of being that sort of player and then was resorted to being a bench player never getting a long run of games. Not impressive but definetly good enough reason to say he deserves a chance.
  20. Haven't got a fucking clue. I'm sure Sven will be asked if there are more on the way at the press conference for these guys. He's canny as owt but he should say if there are more or not. I'd guess not but there's a month left, who knows. If you're a betting man, get on the Handicaps. City to win the league at +40 or something like that. Buying money. Could also get 1/2 on us to finish above Birmingham really comes down to sven i suppose as the new owner obviously wants to be the silent type in all this much like we are experienceing. Media silence obviously makes the jerno's nervous so they will no doubt be reports of 50-60m available. There doesnt seem to be any signs city are slowing down though.
  21. he still managed to get a game for manu, I really dont see the big fuss. He is comming from manu after being told he will not get as many games as he wants due to newer more expensive signings, we are not buying him from wigan or some unknown club so I say if we can give dyer more than one chance we can do the very same for smith.
  22. I agree with whoever said I really wanted him before manu signed him as i thought he was a great prospect and really he got over shadowed quite quickly much like saha it took ages for them to get a foothold in the side, when i have seen him play I have found him to be decent, really think that we could do better with 6m if the fee is to be believed but as many have said too young and english usually adds the £££' s on. Certainly we all went on how sam is good at getting the best out of players that have took a dip in their carear and with smith still seemly reeling off a long list of injuries we should keep the faith its not like souey or rodent signed the lad.
  23. Or...he's been playing Football Manager to fill the time. I've only heard of two of the players he's signed so far but everyone keeps saying how good they are on FM obviously the only concern should be will they actually suit the prem sven has worked with english prem players but not managed in the league lets hope he is making the right choices as it seems they obviously have money to throw about. Doc how much you recon city will go on to spend out of interest??
  24. obviously its svens many contacts unearthing alot of these players but least they are getting them in quickly shows how the new board/backers have settled in or maybe its just blind faith in the manager.
  25. old experienced head is what sam said he wanted and thats exactly what he has went for obviously its a stop gap but the continental experience they can pass on to the younger lads is invaluable. If only we could have gotten Sol Campbell in for some premier wisdom but never mind extra bodies at the back at the minimum.
