  1. the bottom line is that clubs dont really make money - if they do it needs to be reinvested. why ask people to risk their pension funds? admittedly I'm not very good when it comes to financial matters, but would there be that definite risk that ordinary punters could lose their pensions if things went tits up?
  2. beckford - "i'm off to newcastle" - according to goal.com

    Players in public

who knows? probably would have got his horses to pull out the car. or his helicopter
  4. can you imagine the ticket prices for the games?
  5. ashley's not stupid when it comes to selling players (Given aside as we got ripped off there) - I think there must have been some financial transaction agreed upon and they havent fullfilled their end of the bargain - may be only a case of a hundred grand or 2 but enough for ashley to pull the plug and call their bluff. or it may be to do with the ANC and when they officially start paying him. who knows?
  6. to be honest, i think there are players in that leeds team other than beckford who should be a priority. we have half decent championship-level strikers but not a decent RW or CM . we also need cover for LB/CB.
  7. may be just to drum up some competition for him, or trying to squeeze a few hundred grand out of them for him. the Turks may be trying it trying to get him on the cheap (even though we should be paying them).
  8. personal moment of the decade was getting to elland road in the snow, just getting parked and making it in as we kicked off - 4-3 win, and literally screaming like a loon at nobby as he celebrated in front of us.
  9. a real lack of ambition then. we should realistically get promoted this season so why sign for stoke. better to hold on till the summer. if we dont get promoted he could take his time and decide which team he wants to sign for as a lot of mid-lower premiership teams will be interested in him. also, has he ever been to stoke - a real s***hole.
  10. definitley, but would hughton have the balls?
  11. no way will he be coming here. wenger will want assurances regarding first team playing time. hughton will never drop a fit nolan or smith, and butt seems first choice back up. has brought on pancrate for the right. don't know how well cemented jonas' place is in the team but that is the only spot hughton would consider him - or as second striker to carroll/ameobi. hope i'm wrong cos bring some real creativity to centre of park. also if we dont get him, u could see boro cardiff qpr swansea watfoed - in fact name any championship club as they would gor for him. need to get him for our midfield, but also to keep him away from our challengers' teams.

    Football pet hates

tony gubba, motson, roger thames, david pleat, mark bright, andy townsend, that guy who used to play for leicester who is on the championship show and any other nomark journeyman footballer who has the temerity to criticise top stars for a bad pass or missed opportunity - or those that criticise managers - if you've got the balls, try it yourself gray, hansen etc. ps dont really mind hansen that much.
  13. should ban all loan deals between clubs in the top tiers of their leagues. wouldn't prevent the best young talent being mopped up by the big clubs but would maybe make the players stop and think about who they signed for. players are stopped playing against their own teams but they can still affect outcome of the league and champions league in general as towards the end of season relegation and top of the table issues can be decided by what goes on in other matches - open to coruption and cheating ( i hope that sounds clear, as not making the point very well). also loans should be emergency only. if u want a player - sign him. can't be doing with having a team made up of loanees.
  14. kadar is a better prospect than edgar
  15. been a while since a goal has raised the roof like that - probably because was just so unexpected
  16. Coloccini-6.5- Was OK but his lack of pace does lead to him getting skinned, and we saw how we could have paid the price had it not been for Taylor. yup, but thats why they're a good partnership. if one slips, the other makes sure they're there to cover
  17. taylor's challenge!! linesman saw it but ref missed it and didnt realise he was waving his flag. am sure taylor may have been given a red. silly challenge.
  18. anyone see taylors elbow on one of their players? linesman was flagging like loony but ref didnt notice and play moved on. looked deliberate - jumping in for a header but with elbow - was hoping taylor wa starting to cut that sort of thing out - could have been trouble if ref saw it
  19. i'm not a greatest fan of hughton the manager (no problem with him as acoach ) but the reluctance of most people to give him any credit is harsh. he's done well in the circumstances and has maintained a great deal of dignity. also credit to him for taking a gamble on pancrate.
  20. Why? right subs at the right times. i know butt gave it away a couple of times, but hey if you can't find it in you to give him a little credit even today then nothing he does will make u happy.
  21. took him a year to adapt to spanish football. the premier league esp at man utd is littered with foreign players with dodgy first seasons who went on to become decent. also looked more and more nervous as the season wore on last year - but just imagine signing for a big club like the toon, keegan managing, feel good atmosphere, draw at man utd opening day - he was probably thinking that we would be challenging for a euro spot. then all of the sudeen the shit hits the fan. hard to handle in your first few months in a new country - especially if you've probably been sold a dream.
