  1. hughton's quotes in the journal this morning are worrying http://www.journallive.co.uk/nufc/newcastle-united-news/2010/02/16/chris-hughton-backing-his-top-scorer-kevin-nolan-61634-25841795/
  2. if jonas not fit, wonder if van rental could play LW with kadar behind him. not ideal, but would rather have guthrie in middle. or even play raylor RW and routledge LW
  3. think if jonas and barton had been fit he would have been dropped
  4. poor poor performance but swansea need to stop moaning - for all their possesion how many decent chances did they create? we were always likely to get at least one decent chance - and we took it. tough. also sousa took off dyer - bad move and probably cost them the match.
  5. 4-1 even chopra scored - can't believe i let my brother have my ticket (for nowt as well!). also 3-1 at highbury same story, but glad i made sure i made it to the 4-3 at leeds a few days later.
  6. Forest away and Plymouth in the league to name two. just goes to show how shit my memory is. was it from the start in place of jonas or as sub?
  7. hopefully will get him to the world cup
  8. credit where its due though, he's never played lovelypants on the left wing
  9. they are, when it comes to creating an atmosphere
  10. playing in top of the table team surrounded by decent players and in front of a decent keeper, with a fanatical support home and away - that's got to get you stepping up your game and I think Hall will respond
  11. williamson - played 3 full 90mins in a row after such a long time without a first team game - really impressed. jonas - played well but sometimes you need to beat your man just the once and stick in a cross. was sat right behind loven for his second goal - seemed an impossible angle when he it!
  12. hughton got lucky that butt and smith both injured. hope he has learnt his lesson after leicester debacle. you don't always need a defnsive midfielder and its ok to play 2 wingers. also, lovenkrands undroppable - so much intelligent movement and play.
  13. kadar is a much more reliable centre half than hall. also has played at sjp before - would be a bit worried going in with 2 home debuts (hall and van) and a second home appearance (williamson) for such an important game.
  14. not too sure about making too many changes for the sake of it. play your first team eg collocini, loven etc every game. change only if injuries or loss of form. we had four new faces at leicester - may have done better if injuries permitting we had had our first team playing eg loven jonas jose etc.
  15. can't really compare beckford and best. beckford plays a in a leeds team top of their league with a good midfield creating plenty of chances. nufc and coventry don't. dont think beckford would have nealry as many goals this season with us or coventry. whereas Best in that leeds time would have a lot more. its not just about the striker - its about the service.
  16. we should at least retire the no.9 myth. Aye, we've had some good no 9s but only 2, 3 if you count Supermac who were outstanding wearing that number. Don't know if Hughie Gallagher wore that number or not. nobody wore numbers then. Really? Seems unthinkable when you when you look at all the ridiculous squad numbers they have nowadays. Saw Bendtner wearing 52 for Arsenal yesterday those turkish clubs are canny - they've given geremi his age on his shirt
  17. if doesnt score the goals, lets hope he is good enough to hold the ball up intelligently for others to do so - whoops, but that would mean having someone attack from midfield in support.
  18. means definitley looking into bringing in another striker in the summer.
  19. what's worrying is that, unlike jonas, there is no mention of an injury to Loven is his post match comments. it makes it even more staggering that hughton didnt make the neccessary attacking changes at half time to go on and win the match. he did mention wanting to have a solid 5man midfied line though - which then goes against what he said about playing nolan just off carroll. i really can't work him out, and admit to having been impressed with him to an extent until this cock-up.
