Thats bollocks Stoke aren't a bad side, yes we need to win but it doesn't mean we'll go down if we don't. Will Spurs go down if they lose their next game?

The thing is though Barton was very infuential in that 3 man midfield, Guthrie may do it but Barton was one of the best players towards the end of the season.

Sunderland appoint Steve 'I bleed black and white' Bruce as new manager

Ex Sunderland player. Available immediately. No compensation to pay out to get him. He's looking for a job.... Aye I can see it n all. Can see him doing well with the group of players they have n all as they have the basis of a decent team. Yeah its the best Sunderland squad I've seen in a while on paper its better than the one that finished in the top 8 or whatever, but the leagues alot stronger now so its probably more like 12th-18th. -
I can see me despising Man City. It's taken me about 5 years to not vomit everytime I see Chelski play.

He installed an 'us against the world' type of mentality at Wimbledon, certainly at the first-team level as a motivational tool. But at Wimbledon his troopers were more blue-collar types/battlers in comparison to our list, and they reveled in sticking it up everybody else. I'm not sure how long and how far his 'hailstorm & bluster' approach will outlast his deficiencies with regards to his overall tactical approach in terms of pattern of play, and as a matchday tactician ie. his use of substitutions. Keegan was a motivator, a ranter when needed, and an astute tactician. Those factors kept us up last season. Shallow that it was but our 1st choice eleven was more purpose built to play the sort of football employed in our relegation fight last season, as opposed to the battling/against the wall type of football employed so far & during his tenureship at Wimbledon. With a more cultured set of footballers at his disposal, imo it will take more than just fire & brimstone in order to keep this ship afloat over the course of more than a half a season. Calling Keegan an astute tactician is a bit ott. He was alright, but against some teams he didn't have a clue. He just got them playing to their strengths and instilled conifdence.

you'll know in January, spending or lack of will tell us what we need to know the papers are claiming kinnear has been told he's got no money to spend, sell to buy tells me all i need to know given the papers were pretty f***ing spot on all summer about what he was making available for transfers Yep, those reliable papers get everything right. Not saying we will have money but theres a direct quote from JFK saying hes been told he had money, we'll be best just to wait tbh instead of another hypothetical argument kicking off again. you've just described the summer, and the events that led to our current predicament...but yeah, lets hang fire til feb 1st and we're totally f***ed Yeah but us arguing about it isn't going to make Ashley spend money, we can have a try if you want but it'll probably be a waste of both of our time.

Kinnear signs contract to the end of the season.

mackems.gif Can't see this happening but, if it did, would fans forgive Ashley if say he spent 20m net in the window? -

Exactly. Things actually could be a lot worse than what they are as unbelievable as that is. Yep, get behind him and the team and see what happens in January, you never know. I actually think one of the key fators in him being offered this is so they can compete in January. With a manager on a monthly contract no player would sign, now at least if they come on loan they know the chances are the manager will still be there as long as they are. -
Things seem to be looking up, I just wish Barton was fit, we are so much better with him in the side. It's also nice for Joe to have options on the bench, now he just has to decide to use them before its too late. Anyway I reckon we'll win this one ----------------------Given Beye------Colo-----------Bassong-----Enrique Geremi--Butt------------Guthrie-------Jonas -----------------Owen ------------------------Oba I included Geremi as he's the only one who can vaguely cross the ball in our squad.

There'll be no blasphemy at this time of year.

he's not. Agreed, he useless at defending but at least we might have a remote possibility of seeing a freekick get close to the goal. So we should just use him in the 'Special Teams' kind of way, bring him on for a kick at goal Anyone who thinks he's anything beyond below average as a FB is basing their opinion on imagination. Nah, I'd actually quite like to see Martins take freekicks occasionally, ok hes not got the mnost accurate striker but if he gets one on target itll probably go in due to the power.
-
I'd offer him a one year deal now, because even if he wants to go come the summer at least we'll get a fee and if he plays and scores at the rate he has been we may get a few bob.
