Too fan friendly if anything. How many chairman sit with the fans and drink with the fans and wear the shirt? I'll be there singing for the team and I expect every Newcastle 'supporter' to be there as well to show the players that we're still behind them. So if you cant make it you aren't a supporter? Not as a rule but its at times like this you find out who the real fans are. Bollocks. Its a meaningless friendly that is there to further line Ashley's pockets. We cant be great all the time. You have to take the rough with the smooth. Even Manchester United go relegated in the 70s, yet they sold out everywhere when they went down. What a Sooperfan! Would rather put the cash directly into a Sir Bobby Robson foundation tin than line Fat Mike Ashley's pockets for a s**** friendly. I don't like Mike Ashley much either but he's lost hundreds of millions of pounds at this club. That's more damaging to him than just relegation to us. We will rise again but his monetary value may not. My £15 might even go to Ashley, or it might go to pay off Michael Owen but that man has lost hundreds of millions and that's why I find it hard to be too hard on the bloke. Incompetent and overly fan friendly yes but he's no Tom Hicks or Glazer.

If and when in a few years time, we're up there with Manchester United again (who'd have believed it would happen befor Keegan first arrived?) it'll be a happy club and every game will be sold out and that's when you don't get these excuses for people not attending. Yes these are relatively bad times for the club but we need to rally round and we'll get through it.

Not happy about this but I guess the club need every penny at the moment. They're still paying off Michael Owen.

Today was disappointing to be fair but certainly not worse than past disappointments like those. We'll be there or thereabouts next season and this will be forgotten about. I think we'll be a bit inconsistent, as shown by the great showing at Darlo last week and the off colour performance today but we can still at least make the play offs, even through inconsistent form.

Exactly. Good pre season so far. One bad performance isn't the end of the world. It might help keep our feet on the ground, as some thing next season will be a doddle.

Doesn't look good after some impressive results but its still only pre season. As long as the players are ready for West Brom.

I wouldn't get too down about it. We had a great result at Darlington last week but people said don't get carried away, so don't get carried away with today's result. We've had a great pre season so far, let's just hope this is a blip today.

Is it true Paul Marflitt is taking over? Apparently its nearly sorted and the Shearer contract is done. Don't want to get my hopes up but would be great if true.

We need a takeover. We know this but at the same time can we afford to rush it? This could be the biggest decision the club will ever make. Get the right people in and in 5 years, we could be back in Europe and going well in the Premiership, with full houses every week. Get it wrong and in 5 years we may be struggling in League One like Leeds, with a half empty ground.

Well out of order that mate. He's only trying to do right by the club but yeah lets slag him off anyway. No wonder this club is in a mess.

i agree with him unfortunately i also agreed with this sentiment a month ago - which just goes to show how much dogs "do do" we are in definate wum btw Eh? I agreed as well a month ago with this but reality is dawning now that the new season is appraoching and we still have Ashley, no manager and last seasons squad. We need a takeover to get things sorted for the good of the club.

Excellent point. Superb stuff. The point is time is pressing now. We don't have a manager and still have last seasons squad. We need new owners now. Not Ashley. At the moment we still have Ashley, so a takeoever is needed because the horse has bolted for him and he doesn't care anymore I think this is something we all agree on.

Anyone else think a takeover is really important? If we get stuck with Ashley, then a return to the Premiership is going to be unlikely and the wage bill will be too high. We need this takeover IMO.

I wouldn't go as far as saying the good times are back after yesterday but definitely feeling alot more confident about the new season now.

We were playing Shamrock Rovers, in a friendly. Its a start mate. A bad result would have done us no good. Whether its Shamrock or not, it could help momentum.
