  1. Villa Newcastle Sunderland Everton Man United Arsenal Liverpool Chelsea Nottingham Forest Leeds United Wolves West Bromwich Albion West Ham Tottenham Sheffield Wednesday Sheffield United Norwich City Man City Derby County Leicester City Would be my ideal top flight line-up.
  2. Aaawww don't rub it in man!! He seems a decent chap, fair play to him..young player of the year surely this year. Don't ask me how N'Zogbia did before going off injured, then *wink*
  3. FT Wigan 1 Villa 2 Milner was absolutely superb for us.
  4. We're playing better than we have for ages. This is a really good game, Wigan are a decent side.
  5. Interpolic's Clive Tyldesley one on the previous page is one of the funniest things I've seen in ages. Good work, sir.
  6. That is because Gold and Sullivan are gigantic fucking gobshites who spout out nonsense like that then immediately contradict themselves. They actually made me feel sorry for Blues fans, they're so bad.
  7. That's pretty much what every single Villa fan will tell you. Defensively, fine, but he doesn't know what to do with the ball when he goes forward. I think O'Neill likes him there because of his (understandable) tendency to drift in towards the centre backs, and help out, possibly more than a "dedicated" right back would do. He also has a thing about big defenders (which is probably one of the things which did for Shorey. Although the main thing in his case was his defensive weakness).
  8. No, but he's played Cuellar at RB and Luke Young at LB loads of times.
  9. He'll never play dedicated full backs if he can shoe-horn his favourite players there. Cuellar's an excellent CB, but he's no RB. Poor Luke Young. Poor Habib Beye (only a bit, mind *wink*)
  10. We actually were. Very, very briefly. What isn't helping us is our growing fixture backlog. You know what i mean man. Arr, I do. I was just reflecting on the brevity of our participation this year. It was like when Hitchcock did all those cameos in his films. Blink and you miss it. We were like Hitch as the man just missing the bus in North By Northwest

  12. Fantastic result for us, tonight. Three points behind Liverpool with three games in hand. Four behind Man City with one game in hand. Four behind Spurs with two games in hand. All looking pretty tight. And looking pretty unconvincing from all the teams in the mix, too.
  13. Isn't there a difference between listing games and dates with them? ie - no dates there. EDIT and now edited.
  14. re the run-in, we've got it pretty easy on paper: Home: Dogheads, Mackems, Likeablescouse, Filthyscum, Fat Sam's lot. Away: LoudestfansinthePL (copyright), 5000 men and three dogs in an Ikea stadium, Monied cockneys, Anti-football, Penniless, Vulgar lottery-winning arrivistes. *SNIP* Edited to stop falling foul of not actually listing fixtures with dates in any case, but hey ho The issue is we've got quite a few rearranged games moved back so may have something of a backlog to work through in not much time. Our problem is that we put too much reliance on the wings - I love watching us play with two wingers and seeing them run at people, but when that outlet gets snuffed out, we struggle to create through the middle. Give MON his chance, though, and I hope he'll rectify that in the summer. We also need a more reliable goal outlet. For every "unplayable" (MON's description) game Carew has, he has 4 anonymous ones. He's better than Heskey, though. He's shite. Was surprised not to see Delfouneso start yesterday.
  15. I'm not making it out to be anything it isn't, I'm saying that - you played far more long ball than we did - we don't spend 90 minutes on the art of defending - we wouldn't have won as many games as we have if that were the case. Isn't that comment at odds with your "I'm not saying you play shit boring football in general" comment, incidentally? - you may have played the better football against us, and I said so at the time, but I don't judge our entire season on two matches.
  16. I think you'll find the press coverage of the match show that to not be the case - have a look back. You constantly played it long to Crouch in the second half especially, whiilst berating us for being a long ball team (something which your fans were only doing because Wenger had mentioned it a few days before, now you come to mention him). Funny seeing Spurs fans jumping on some (widely ridiculed) notion an Arsenal manager had put out there a few days before. My point still stands. We still had a ridiculous amount of possession and a ridiculous amount of shots on goal. You literally did nothing but defend well. In both games can you pick out an attack minded player that played well for Villa? Wasn't the MOTM players from your team Cueller in the first game and either Dunne or Friediel in the second? The point is, I don't base our whole season on matches against Spurs. I could ask you about your record against other top 6/8 sides this season, and I bet it pales into insignificance compared to ours. Spurs this season are flat track bullies, beating the shit teams easily and struggling against anyone half decent. I could also point out that whilst you had plenty of possession against us at our place this year, I barely remember you causing the keeper any trouble, and the same goes for the match at your place. In fact, especially the match at your place.
  17. Has Arteta played for Spain? If Almunia had a shout to qualify for England, does Arteta?

  19. To be honest, after our 6-4 LC semi weirdathon, and the 5-2 freakathon of two weeks ago against Burnley, plus today's attempt to throw it all away at Reading, I'm not really sure what we prefer any more, either.
  20. What's more, I wasn't even there. Despite being a season ticket holder, I was so keen to celebrate your demise - as indicated by my long history of spiteful, wind up, vindictive posting on here - that I didn't bother going to the match.
  21. Have you got a needle and thread? Only, my sides have just split.
  22. Crawling around this board, doing what, exactly? Chatting with people I like talking with about football and have talkied with for probaby three years now? How dare I. You're starting to make yourself look a bit daft now. I've a feeling Mr.Dawson is about to rip you a new hole - so as much as I was on the wind up - I may re-enter later. I look forward to it in the same way I would a bout of chemotherapy.
  23. Think that would be a pretty decent game providing MON tells his team to actually try and play football this time. For all your moans, you don't actually seem to take many points of us, KD. I'd back you to do well against any lower half team. Put you against the better sides, though, and you spend 90 minutes passing in pretty triangles around the centre spot and generally don't deliver. You're the inverse of us. s*** teams = we struggle. Decent teams = we do OK. I just get fed up when a teams sole purpose in a game is to stop the other team from scoring (even at home). Villa have absolutely no excuse playing like that as your squad is filled with good footballers who can actually play football. It's like MON tells your players to soak up pressure and hit us on the break once or twice if there's an opportunity. The 2 times we played you this season was painful to watch. You used the exact same tactics Hull city and Stoke used against us. You actually played worse then both those teams too tbh. That's not actually true, though, There's a difference between defending well and ONLY defending well. We didn't win at Old Trafford and Anfield by sticking 11 men behind the ball. We're not Brazil 1970, either, but it is a bit too easy to label us boring as an excuse to detract from your own deficiences. Like your fans did at WHL against us this year shouting "hoof" at us whilst you spent 90 minutes hoofing the ball up to Peter Crouch. We've got plenty of creativity and are exciting to watch most of the time. The fact we defend well just gets twisted and used against us. I don't really know what we're meant to do, give a few goals away? (Although we managed that today, so maybe we're ahead of the game on that one).
