Nah, we weren't going to win every home match forever, and we came close to - somehow, fuck knows how - losing that one. It's not a relentless march to victory, there are peaks and troughs, and we got ourselves in the shit there, and then dug ourselves back out again. Put it this way, if you'd have said '7 points from Arsenal, Man City, Sheffield United', I'd have bitten your hand off. They've just come in not the way I expected. Big miss tonight was Pau Torres. Lenglet did ok, but Torres is massively important to how we play, and how we build attacks. Also missed the Kamara - Luiz partnership, and Tielemans too. What a season, though. What a fucking year, insane.

161 successful passes v 12.

Agree, but the second one, or the one looking at the handball, was absurd.

I'm a fan of Scandos. Just not the Liverpool loving types.

He's finally spotted the thousands of fat, pissed Irish blokes, scandinavians in jester hats, and home counties cunts that constitute Liverpool's support?

I remember us beating them in his first season, and we were singing Fergie on the dole during the match, and I am pretty sure their fans joined in, too.

Until the last few weeks, we had the 13th best away record, but I heard the other day it is now the 6th, which is much better, but this stuff fluctuates. We will pick up some shit results (we have already had a few) as you have, but over the course of the season both teams will be 'there or thereabouts' (which, I'll be honest, makes me feel queasy writing it, as it's a Bruce-ism). Anyone can beat anyone in this league. It's hard to put together a linear improvement given that.

Christ. So sad to see someone’s life take such a grim nosedive like that.

worth pointing out Watkins has almost as many assists as goals this season. Pretty sure he’s second only to Haaland. i had written him off (on here too) not that long ago.
-
I reckon - untrained eye as I obviously don’t watch you that often - that now with no Europe and no proximity to a LC final, you’re going to find things a lot more manageable. It’s a long season and we’re not even halfway through yet. On top of which most of the teams around you will have Europe to return and distract from March (February for some of them). i certainly think it is way too early to read much into points gaps at this time, it’s more of a case of being there and thereabouts, in touch. Look at Man City’s recent run of results for example. Nobody predicted that.

Ah that explains it then. Yeah, he looked like he was shitting bricks. Feel bad for him, as a non Newcastle fan, I like Trippier, always seemed the decent type.
-
I hadn’t seen any of this match and turned on just after the first penalty. Dunno what happened with Trippier prior to that but as he stepped up it was written all over his face he was going to miss. Clearly looked absolutely not up onto it in terms of mindset.

It really got worse under Gerrard when Beale left. However, it was pretty shit when he was there too.

KIDDING NOBODY #betruetoyourself

Well, my main take away from Liverpool in this match is that, in terms of how much of a threat they pose to us in the title race, I am not too worried.* * simmer down, it's just a joke.
-
Normally for a Man United - Liverpool match, my main hope would be for neither side to get anything and for an asteroid impact event on the ground, but today I very much hope Man United win this.

Fucking commentator has to wind up big style - just in case - every time someone takes a shot. IT'S MO SALAH! as he tamely rolls a grasscutter at Onana.
-
Why not? There's no reason for it not to be, the only reason they'd look at it would be if it had potential FFP impact, ie was some sort of work around that involved paying inflated figures.

re Adidas - one of our co owners is the largest private shareholder in adidas so I wouldn’t be at all surprised

Finn Azaz who is on loan to Plymouth and was there all last season, and is doing well. I can see him going for 10-15m easily. A player who has never played for us. We’ve invested a huge amount in the new inner city academy which is literally around the corner to make it even easier to tap into local talent. Cameron Archer, Louie Barry, Tim Iroegbunam, Jacob and Aaron Ramsey (and the third brother, Cole) - all from within a couple of miles from the ground. There is a reason Man City invest so much in youth even with their money. It’s always been important but with FFP is even more so.
-
that’s because he isn’t even remotely like that.
-
Is that you, Alan Brazil?

Ha ha. Got to love football. Going to miss Kamara though, that’s three matches I suppose? Ben Mee can fuck off too, the nasty little psycho still not forgiven for crippling Wesley.

It reminded me of that Half Man Half Biscuit track, "Shit Arm, Bad Tattoo"
