If a manager was making transfer decisions based on his own personal financial gain, rather than the good of his club, then the supporters of that club have every right to be very annoyed. It is widespread, but the allegations against him were pretty hefty. The fact he didn;t take any action is a bit worrying. But as you said, it doesn't really matter in the wider picture, if he keeps his club's fans happy.

Not to my knowledge, at least...curiouser and curiouser... nah, he didn't. just refused to give any interviews to the BBC. not a big loss..... That's not the point we're hinting at, though. BBC broadcasts program containing loads of allegations against Sam. Sam denies them angrily, says he's going to sue the BBC for this slander etc etc. Several months later, no hint of legal action. Hmmmm. Good manager, mind.

This strikes me as somewhat daft. Why risk a crucially important player like him in a pointless game at the arse end of the season, rather than give him the entire summer and pre-season to prepare? And on the sods law side of things, you just know something bad is going to happen.

Fair point, but you could also look at it from the other side, and consider that Man United are within spitting distance of winning the league, and could very well be about to add the Champions League and the FA Cup to that. If i were a Man United fan, I wouldn't have wanted the takeover to be funded by debt, but if anything was able to make me forget about it, it would be that kind of treble.

To be honest, given that they're bright enough to have got themselves so incredibly rich in the first place (well, most of them), I'd imagine they're sharp enough to realise that as well.

That may be the case, but I recall reading about Shepherd taking the piss out of your fans for the prices you paid for your replica shirts, calling women supporters dogs and calling your biggest hero in years "Mary Poppins". A lot of these suspicions about the new raft of owners might have some grounding in fact, but the traditional British owners have hardly been philanthropic types, have they?

Ridsdale isn't paying the price, apparently the Cardiff directors were quaffing champagne yesterday when they heard Leeds were down. The club (and more precisely, the supporters) are paying the price, as witnessed by their descent into the third division. True, but Ridsdale is a Leeds supporter mate, and had his opportunity, and made a mess of it. I read an interview somewhere with him recently, and he's a wiser man for the experience, but its too late for him and the other Leeds supporters. Personally, I smiled yesterday when I saw that result. Quite a lot in fact, as I don't like them very much, and I hate Ken Bates and Denis Wise. I don't like Leeds, and they have a vile element to their support (which, in fairness, all clubs have, only theirs is larger). I do feel sorry for individual Leeds fans, mind, it will be horrible for them. Still, you never know, other clubs have done great things within 10 years of coming out of that League .....

I've said this before, but I really mean it, our new American overlords have been absolutely incredible when it comes to understanding our identity and history, utterly faultless. In fact, they've exceeded our expectations. Whether Gillet and Hicks will do that with Liverpool, I don't know, but I can't knock Lerner thus far. More understanding of what the club means in the 8 months they've been there than we got in 30 years on and off with Ellis' very English ownership.

TBH. Maybe Fulham? What's the "surely he's off to Citeh" comments based on? And aye, i'd bet a decent amount Gary Speed got offered it. Surely Pearce is a dead man walking - their fans have had enough, he's clearly not got a clue what is going on. He's probably jacked it in now, knowing that the comments about leaving at the end of the season have made it impossible for him to carry on. It may also be an attempt to avoid situations where he's going to be asked about Pearce's job whilst Pearce is still there. The only confusing thing is the state of the Citeh takeover, whcih is obviously still in very early days. If he's staked it all on Ranson winning, then he's in a tricky situation. Although it could be like our takeover when all interested parties agreed they wanted the same man for the job, maybe. I dunno, at least it makes the end of season more interesting.

I wont write all the other teams fix down, but Wigan have the easist run in, wouldnt be suprised if its Watford, Charlton and Fulham down. Tbh he does have the right to feel optimistic . Agbonlahor, Young, Carew, Barry, Maloney, Petrov, Mellberg, Bouma, Berger and Laursen are all good players. If they could just add a goalscorer, some centre midfielders , full backs and maybe a good goalkeeper (dont rate Sorensen) they could make top 6. Just like all NUFC has to do it buy 4 class defenders, a new striker and an attacking CM... Manager? Chairman? Although in fairness, I think a lot of people outside Newcastle are underestimating the fact that you'll have Martns and Owen up front next season. If they can play together.

Surely the problem now is that Roeder has not done badly enough to be a guaranteed sacking, and the UEFA run has effectively made him look good enough to survive another year? I don't know the intricacies of FS's psyche, but I'd have thought he has a lot of personal stock riding on Roeder's appointment being a good one, and he has to give him the chance to prove that - meaning that fewer points and a closer flirtation with relegation would actually have turned out much better for you, giving you the justification to lose Roeder and grab Allardyce (who, dodgy or not, you've got to say has shown he knows his shit) while you can.

If the biggest criticism you can make against O'Neill is that we didn't beat you at your place, then you might also want to take into account the fact that you were extremely lucky to get anything from that game ...
