Newcastle United vs. Swansea City, Saturday 19/4/14 @ 3pm (Not on TV)
LoveItIfWeBeatU replied to Disco's topic in Football
None of what you're saying is worth trying A left side of Dummett and Haidara is pretty much my footballing worst nightmare. The only thing I said that was worth trying was playing Dummett and Haidara on the left. I wasn't suggesting playing our 4 so called strikers. That is today's rumoured team! Dummett and Gouffran on the left or Dummett and Haidara? Dummett and Gouffran isn't working so why not try Dummett and Haidara? What's the worst that could happen? We are losing every game anyway. -

A left side of Dummett and Haidara would be worth trying. Both like to go forward so one could cover the other. At least one side of the team would have some balance to it. If Shola, Cisse, Gouffran and de Jong all start that's 4 (so called) strikers in the team. I wonder if any of them will score? -
It amazes me that anyone would advocate NUFC signing him. He hasn't done anything to deserve a permanent contract. Yes he is playing in a team with no confidence but he is also supposed to be trying to impress. Surely it is easier to impress in a s*** team as it shouldn't take too much effort to stand out? Luuk de Jong has blended in with our poor, out of form team. He should be busting a gut to try to impress NUFC (or other teams if NUFC don't want him). He needs to impress to escape the disaster of his Borussia Mönchengladbach move. It amazes me that some are so quick to right off players when I bet the same that do are shitting themselves Debuchy might be off in the summer. Bump his thread from this time last season and I bet there are very similar comments to those on de Jong. I wouldn't sign de Jong on the prices quoted but would be happy to give the lad a bit more time if we could arrange another loan. Quick to write him off? He hasn't been in form since leaving FC Twente in July 2012. The fact that Borussia Mönchengladbach were happy to loan out a player they paid €15 million less than two years ago says something. Not to mention they have agreed to sell him for around £7m if his loan goes well. I wouldn't sign Luuk de Jong for the following reasons: - He hasn't been in form for two seasons. He hasn't scored. On the rare occasion he has had a shot at goal they have usually been very weak. He hasn't had much influence on games. He doesn't have pace. Apparently he would cost £7m to £8m. I wouldn't want NUFC paying £4m for him. If Luuk de Jong ends up in a decent league next season, plays well and starts scoring again I won't be upset that NUFC didn't sign him because, based on logic, all signs pointed to him not being a success.

That's the biggest lie he's ever told there.

Colback isn't a defensive midfielder is he? We are only being linked with defensive midfielders recently.
-
did that even need to be said? Some crazy people still think he's worth buying. They point out his positives like "he has a good touch" and ignore or blame Pardew for his non-goal scoring qualities. I'm just hammering home the point that scoring a lot of goals in the Eredivisie doesn't always mean you can do the same elsewhere.
-
For strikers who were good in the Eredivisie, Luuk de Jong has looked more like a Jozy Altidore/Afonso Alves/Mateja Kezman than a Ruud van Nistelrooy/Robin van Persie/Luis Suárez in the Premiership.

http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/jack-colback-could-right-home-7000485 "a permanent move for Luuk De Jong also remains a distinct possibility" is hopefully media bullshit. "his lack of form could well ease the process for Newcastle" He hasn't been in form since he left FC Twente in July 2012. I'm sure Borussia Mönchengladbach are desperate to get back as much of the €15 million they paid for Luuk De Jong as possible. They'd have more chance of that if they loaned him out to a Eredivisie team next season and hope he regains his form.

True, we should stick with the players we know are s*** instead of trying new ones who might be. My point was scoring goals in that league is not proof of being a good player. Ignoring his goals, he may still be playing well. He could come back here and play well. Ffs, he can't do any better! I f***ing hate that argument. What's the point in sending him then? What is so hard to understand with what I have said? He was sent to Greece to play regular football. He wasn't sent to Greece to score goals to earn a place in the NUFC team on his return. He could score a shed load of goals in Greece. That does not mean he will be great in the Premiership. It also doesn't mean he definitely won't be great in the Premiership. He may be a very good midfielder. The point is a lot of very mediocre players score plenty of goals in Greece.
-
I'm not saying he isn't worth looking at. I'm saying take his goal scoring in Greece into context of the quality of that league. I guess the Netherlands Eredivisie league is a higher quality than Greece's league. Regular goal scorers in the Eredivisie can be great or terrible in the Premiership. It isn't easy to gage who will do well.

Mehdi Abeid may well be doing well in Greece but goal scoring in that league isn't a good barometer for how he'll do in the Premiership. Matt Derbyshire scored goals for fun in Greece. Darren Ambrose is also currently scoring frequently.

A high priority over someone who can create or score goals? We need goals to win games. Not scoring goals is holding the team back. Hardly anyone in our squad scores goals.

At the last home game of the season can you imagine what the "Lap of honour" (now usually referred to as the "Lap of thanks" where the players thank the SJP crowd for their support during the season) is going to be like? -

Where is the evidence that Rodgers wants Ben Arfa? Are you referring to old newspaper rumours? There would have been very little stopping Liverpool putting a transfer offer in for Ben Arfa last Summer or in January. I'd imagine Ben Arfa would have put a transfer request in if he'd heard Liverpool were after him. We'll see where Ben Arfa goes in the Summer. I'll be surprised if it is Liverpool.
-
The joke of him saying "I think their (the NUFC fans wanting Pardew out) frustration boiled over a little bit and we need to settle it down. The way to settle it down is to get a win, unfortunately it hasn't come today." Like one win will make everything OK again? Was the win against Crystal Palace a reset which made everyone forget about the defeats before that? I'm quite sure if we beat Swansea nobody will have forgotten the heavy defeats and terrible performances which came before. Pardew must think our whole team is absolute shite as he keeps implying they can't do anything without Remy and Cabaye. The fact that he plays Shola and Gosling who are out of contract in the Summer and who will probably be going to Championship (at best) clubs next season illustrates what he thinks of the other players in the squad.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=QcJkx6wtYKE Mr fucking negative talks up the opposition before every game. He should be sacked for his negative attitude alone. When you compare the negative defeatist shit that comes out of his mouth compared to e.g. Roberto Martinez: -
-
His substitution during the Man U game brought about a huge cheer from the crowd. Probably the loudest the crowd were during the whole game. It was definitely him being cheered off and not Ben Arfa being cheered on. The crowd cheered as de Jong made his way off the pitch. I can't think why he'd want to stay. His time at Borussia Mönchengladbach must have been a living hell if he wants to stay at NUFC.

At half time during the Man U game the guy who sits next to me (who I don't know apart from sitting next to him at SJP) told me he was leaving to watch the rest of the game in the pub. He did not return to his seat for the second half so I assume he was true to his word. He usually asks me at the last home game of the season if I've renewed. This time I'll be telling him that I haven't. The strange thing is I bet he has renewed his season ticket. People who arrive after the game has kicked off, leave their seat 5 minutes before half time, return after the second half has already kicked off and leave 5 or 10 minutes (if not earlier if NUFC are losing) before the final whistle always seem to be the people who renew. I find it strange as they miss large amounts of every match anyway. -
We should be thankful we are not in a relegation fight. Thanks Bob. He doesn't say a thing against Pardew or the constant hammering defeats we are getting. Don't worry people, we'll just sign some top players again.
