Not for free he isn't. He is also in goal scoring form. I'd rather have a 28 year old Gomis than a 23 year old Luuk de Jong.
-
I don't know the stats on how often he starts and how often he is a sub. I don't think Gomis is anything amazing. What I do think is that a 1 in 3 (in Ligue 1) striker who is available for no transfer fee and is arguably better than all NUFC's own strikers is worth getting. These days NUFC operate in the bargain basement so he'd be a good addition without using up too much of our meagre budget. There is nothing to stop NUFC (or any other club) doing a deal with Gomis right now. I assume Gomis is just keeping his options open.
-
I see he has scored another goal today. 13 goals in Ligue 1 so far this season. He also scored 3 goals in the Europa League. It's a shame NUFC won't be getting him. Even if we did sign him he'd probably be counted as our main striking re-enforcement/Remy replacement rather than being seen as a great upgrade on Shola.

Which is more likely to be Mike Ashley's view of the events of the second half of this season? He thinks Pardew has done a shit job in the second half of the season. Or He thinks the squad he has given Alan Pardew to work with is not fit for purpose and the second half of the season collapse is his own fault.

Poyet's decision to bring Connor Wickham back early from his loan has certainly paid off. Wickham hadn't exactly been tearing it up in the Championship during his loan yet he's doing it in the Premiership. "It's a funny old game". Looks like Sunderland will be doing their rebuild in the Premiership. Does that mean they'll be stuck with some of the players they don't want? I imagine a few players they wanted rid of will have been happy to leave if they get relegated. Sunderland staying up may mean some of the turds in their squad are harder to flush.

Why does he think a win will just make everyone forget what has gone before? I still remember we were awful in the games before the Crystal Palace win. We were also awful in that game too. The only difference is we won. When he is spouting his shit to the media someone should shout "You weak minded fools! He's using an old Jedi mind trick." He could say the moon was made of cheese and the media wouldn't call him on it to his face.

I assume "World Class" is the top tier? Ronaldo and Messi are pretty much in a tier of their own. If "World Class" is the top tier what are the other levels? Who currrssss People mention players being "World Class". It is a meaningless phrase. As I said, if Rooney is in the same "Class" as Messi and Ronaldo there must a lot of players in the "World Class" tier.

Jack Colback would be a very uninspiring signing. I see from his stats he is another midfielder who doesn't score goals (unless they are against NUFC which he won't be able to do if he signs for NUFC - excluding own goals). He would be an improvement on Gosling although how he can be called a replacement for Gosling I don't know. Gosling has barely played in all his time on our books.

Just to counter the "he is definitely staying" stories here's another one saying he is likely to leave: - http://www.thejournal.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/tim-krul-considering-future-newcastle-7020368

I still don't think Shola will get a new playing contract. If NUFC do give him a new contract I don't know why they didn't just sign Carlton Cole last Summer as a slightly younger version (Cole has score 5 Premiership goals this season). Giving Shola a new contract does not tie in with Mike Ashley wanting NUFC to finish above the relegation places. NUFC will definitely be relegated if we are relying on Shola in any way next season. Try and sign Gomis. Pay his wages from the savings made on Shola and De Jong's wages. One of the reasons/excuses given for keeping Shola is his dressing room leadership. Why don't NUFC scout new commanding players with leadership abilities? De Jong wouldn't be difficult to replace.

Why do Gazprom pay to have adverts shown on ITV? It's not like anyone watching can decide to use Gazprom gas. A more relevant advert for Gazprom to show in the UK would show Vladimir Putin turning off the gas supply which runs from Russia into Europe and him saying "That's what happens if you complain about what Russia are doing in the Ukraine".

Look at the positives. If the story is true, Pardew wanted to offer Shola a contract extension but the "Newcastle hierarchy" said no. Remember last Summer Pardew wanted to keep Perch but he was sold.

I doubt Mike Ashley will fire Pardew until the Summer (if he decides to fire him at all). If Ashley is worrying about having to pay Pardew off he could just put him on gardening leave. Pardew's contract is supposedly heavily performance weighted. That would presumably mean it would be in Pardew's interest to take a new manager job if it was offered rather than sit collecting his NUFC wage. You have to feel sorry for the NUFC staff who are blameless (the cooks, the grounds keeper, etc.) who won't get their bonus when we slip to 11th in the table. I hope they haven't spent the money already after it looked certain we'd finish in the top 10 back on Boxing Day.
-
It is highly likely he is going to be the first NUFC manager to lose 6 consecutive Premier League games. If NUFC don't beat or draw with Cardiff there's a good chance it will go up to 8 losses in a row.
-
That's why I want him loaned out, hopefully to a Championship side. Mike Ashley's squad size policies for NUFC mean young players are used to plug the gaps. They either play in the reserves, sit on the bench or get thrown in at the deep end. It isn't good for their development.
-
He has now played a few games for us. It's harsh to judge (especially considering the team he has come in to) but so far don't rate him as a defender or going forward. It would be for the best for both NUFC and Dummett if he was loaned out to a Championship club for next season. Having said that, Haidara hasn't really looked any better and Santon's form is erratic. NUFC almost certainly won't buy an experienced left back.

The Newcastle United "board" like to get value for money. So do I and I don't think I have had much value for my money with my season ticket. Only one more home game to go. I've not renewed for next season. I'm looking forward to the lap of honour/thanks at the end of the Cardiff game. Newcastle season ticket holders would have had a more enjoyable season if they'd got season tickets at Sunderland instead. At least we could have enjoyed witnessing them lose.

I'm sure most of us would turn our noses up at Steve Sidwell but that's his 8th goal of the season in a poor team. If only we had a midfielder who could score goals.
