They can't sell NUFC to a player by saying how we are an ambitious club aiming to win things. They can give examples in Cabaye, Ba, Remy and the like and say how playing for NUFC in the Premiership boosted their careers and helped them move up the ladder. Depressing for us as fans but good for prospective transfers to see a benefit in moving to NUFC.

How many conflicting stories are we going to get about Shola and a new contract? The story we've heard most frequently is that Pardew wants to offer Shola a 1 year contract but the club hierarchy (whoever they are) have said they won't offer Shola a new contract. Now the story is the club have offered Shola a 1 year contract but he has turned it down as he wants a 2 year contract and guaranteed starts. If the club did want to keep Shola (please no), he is not in a position to dictate terms. It's not like he has got loads of other clubs beating a path to his door to sign him up. If he has turned an offer down as he wants to play regularly then I suggest he should leave. If NUFC sign Shola up and play him regularly in the 2014/2015 season then NUFC are as good as relegated before the season even starts. It is in Pardew's interest to have a striker who is better than Shola. I'm sure Pardew doesn't like being unpopular with the fans. Signing a 3 goals in 2 years striker isn't going to help Pardew on or off the pitch. Other clubs are starting to announce which players they are releasing. We know Gosling is going. Hopefully Shola will too. If Mike Ashley doesn't want NUFC to be relegated next season he is going to HAVE to get NUFC some firepower.

We need to get at least one player who can take a decent, dangerous free kick. Since Cabaye left we have no one (apart from the injured Ryan Taylor). Opposition teams can give away fouls in and around the box against NUFC without worrying about it. A vocal leader on the pitch (a captain if you will) who can lead by example and rouse the rest of the team on when we need to come back from a set back. Players with pace. Creative players. Players who can score goals. Obviously we desperately need some strikers who can score goals. It would also be nice to have midfielders and defenders who can score goals too.

Well I'm one of the 6% who have cancelled their season ticket and I'm very relieved I did after reading this. I thank the NUFC board for their honesty. You certainly couldn't accuse them of building hopes up.

I can't believe anyone would want us to sign him. If the choice was to give Shola a one year contract or sign de Jong for £2M I'd prefer the Shola option. Hopefully neither choice will happen.

As everyone has said, if Shola's sending off was correct then most teams would have a few players sent off every game for swearing at the ref. Phil Dowd kept giving Liverpool free kicks that were never fouls. He must be the only ref who doesn't know Suarez likes to dive. We never seem to get decisions either. Liverpool players would go steaming into our players and it was rarely a foul. Only one of their players was booked. http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/match-reports/liverpool-fc-2-newcastle-united-7095537 I don't know if that is true but if it is it may explain why he did what he did. He wanted his last game to be remembered the fat c***.

Disgusting refereeing today. The Premier League is corrupt.

I'd assume Haidara and Debuchy playing as wing backs is the plan. -

I wonder if Shola will withdraw from the squad? He won't want an injury jeopardising his possible World Cup participation. -
Shane Ferguson couldn't get in a poor Birmingham team. Haris Vuckic doesn't get in a League 1 team. James Tavernier has done well in a League 1 team. Adam Campbell couldn't get a start in a Scottish Premiership team. Jonas Gutierrez couldn't get a game for Norwich. Romain Amalfitano was a free transfer that totally failed to pay off. Mehdi Abeid and maybe James Tavernier are the only players worth another look. The rest will be no loss. Armstrong and the other promising young player MUST be loaned out (assuming another team wants them on loan) next season. I'd loan Sammy Ameobi out too. Our young players have had their progress damaged by being used as cover (but never getting a game) for the first 11.

http://www.nufc.com/ We'll get hammered anyway. Pardew's attacking line ups contain the same players as his defensive line ups. The end result is usually the same too. We may as well play 5 at the back, 5 in midfield and 0 up front. -
All of Conor Newton, James Tavernier, Jonas Gutierrez, Mehdi Abeid, Shane Ferguson, Romain Amalfitano, Haris Vuckic and Adam Campbell are over 22 years old apart from Adam Campbell who is 19. I wouldn't consider them to be youngsters.

There is no we, there is only Mike Ashley.

I don't but I'd be surprised if it wasn't the majority. The 9-10 year scheme spreads the cost of the ticket over the year rather than one big lump. It also fixed the price. The 9-10 year scheme was the obvious choice to take for someone who intended to keep getting a season ticket.

http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/475134/EXCLUSIVE-Mike-Ashley-set-to-back-Alan-Pardew-as-he-hands-Toon-staff-10-per-cent-bonus "The fear for Ashley is that many fans dismayed by the decision to stick with Pardew, who in their eyes has become a boardroom puppet, will refuse to renew their season tickets." Most season ticket holders will be on the 9 or 10 year scheme. They had to cancel their season ticket by the end of January. Even if they didn't and decided to cancel it later, direct debit payments for next season's ticket started in February. That being the case, NUFC will know how many season ticket holders have already cancelled. It would be very interesting to know how many people have cancelled their season ticket. Jeff Stelling said 16,000 a few weeks ago. That seems a very high figure. The family section of St James' Park gets bigger each season.

Pardew can talk as much as he wants. It's just words. He should have been sacked after last season. He got another season and his brand of football is no better to watch. Talk of transfers means little to us. If any player does well they'll be sold as soon as a decent bid comes in for them. That Lee Charnley statement said "we will progress the Club, both on and off the field over the coming years." I'm not going to pay £600 for my season ticket to watch the club try to improve at a glacial pace. If we finish 10th this season no doubt next seasons target will be 9th.

Don't just judge him on half a season, judge him on his time in Germany as well. His half season loan at NUFC was his audition and he failed miserably. He hasn't even looked like scoring. I wouldn't want us to loan him again. It's a waste of a loan and the fee. I wouldn't want NUFC to buy him even if he only cost £2m. Shola has proven to be more of a goal threat. Shola has scored a couple of goals. If loaning Luuk de Jong is NUFC's master plan to avoid relegation next season then we're doomed. I refuse to believe we can't do better.

http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11095/9302431/transfer-news-newcastle-could-turn-to-pierre-michel-lasogga It's not a difficult decision. The answer is a resounding NO!

15th. Not with what just happened to Villa's GD I blame the BBC. They showed a table with Sunderland in 15th. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/live/football/26837637

One of my favourite moments attending St James' Park was the abuse we gave Ryan Giggs not long after the story of him cheating with his brother's wife came to light. The crowd were vicious. The 3 - 0 win against Man U also helped.
