what next, sell shola this window for 5m? thanks santa, if you could get us 7m for obertan that'd do us for the next 137 christmasses xoxoxoxoxox mike ashley I take it you think it would be ridiculous for NUFC to expect to get £1m to £3m for Jonás Gutiérrez? Like I said, he has 1 and a half years left on his contract. £1m to £3m for a 31 year old with a few years of Premiership experience isn't a lot. Look at how much players cost. Mediocre players with no Premiership experience can cost millions.

I was at the Cardiff FA cup game. I was impressed with the goal he got. He squeezed the ball in from a tight angle when there were bodies in the way. Later in the game the ball came to him on the edge of the box. The old, confident Cissé would have volleyed a shot at goal but instead he hesitated and then passed the ball to Ben Arfa. He also just failed to get on the end of the good cross from the right which Obertan put in. Cissé is out of form but NUFC don't play to his strengths. We don't have wingers who put crosses into the box and even if we did we rarely have more than one player in the box. We don't play balls into feet.

I wonder which club has bought him? According to http://www.nufc.com/2013-14html/squad.html his contract expires in the Summer of 2015. With a year and a half left on his contract I'd expect NUFC are getting a reasonable fee for him. £1m to £3m maybe?

Wait all season to get him fit and then gamble on his fitness by rushing him back? http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/25680495 -

I have low expectations regarding us bringing players in but I think NUFC simply HAVE to get a striker in this transfer window (or at least sorted on a pre-contract so they sign in the Summer). As it stands Shola and Remy leave at the end of the season. Cisse would be our only senior striker.

Tickets for the 2nd leg are going to be a hard sell for West Ham.

Gomis seems to score goals quite regularly. Luuk de Jong hasn't done very well in Germany so far. A 'try before you buy' loan deal with an option to buy would be the safe way to get Luuk de Jong. Get both if we can.
-
That was my point. He has scored 10 goals so far. That doesn't guarantee that he'll score as many in the second half of the season. He may score more he may score less. If he scores 20+ goals and NUFC don't have that rumoured deal lined up to buy him for £8m (which was reportedly part of the loan deal (the £2m loan fee is supposedly discounted off the £8m if we buy him)) he'll probably end up costing more like £15m which I doubt NUFC would pay and he'd have Champions League teams after him anyway.

People on the 9 year Price Guarantee wanting to cancel their 2014/2015 season ticket need to do it by the 31st of January: - I'm on the 9 year scheme and I'm thinking of cancelling mainly because there is a possibility I may have to work away from the North East over the 2014/2015 season. I'm also sort of waiting to see if we do any transfer business or not and what the results are like in the rest of January. Having said that, I nearly cancelled last January and the new signings and the win over Aston Villa convinced me not to. The rest of the season turned out to be a relegation avoidance battle.

There are fans of ours who seem to forget Rémy's got a possible court case hanging over him. They also don't seem to know about Rémy saying he would wait until after the World Cup to decide his future. On hearing Redknapp's words they say things like "He's right! If we don't buy Rémy now we'll miss out on him. It's Mike Ashley being tight." He's gone off the boil a bit recently. So far he's scored 10 goals. 10 goals doesn't make him worth double the £8m QPR paid for him.

It could be one French player in and one French player out if Obertan goes.

With our exit from the FA Cup the season is more or less over for our fringe players now as they won't be getting any regular time in the Premier League squad. You could argue that our squad is too big now for the number of games we have left to play (although it is mainly a case of quantity and not quality). NUFC need to try to loan out Sammy Ameobi, Bigirimana, Good and the other young players. They won't get any better playing in the under 21s and they rarely make the 1st team bench. Mike Ashley will probably demand that we offload players before we bring any new players in. NUFC therefore need to try to sell Gosling, Marveaux, Gutierrez and Obertan. They have barely played this season and if Pardew isn't going to use them NUFC might as well try to move them on and then hopefully buy someone who will get a game. It will make no logical sense if NUFC don't get a new striker this transfer window. I can't see much transfer activity happening in the Summer transfer window until the World Cup has finished. There's also the risk that if your transfer target has a good World Cup his price goes up. Unless our targets are on free transfers in the Summer it would probably be cheaper to buy them now. If by the Summer Cisse is our only striker it puts NUFC in a very weak negotiating position when we try to buy another clubs striker. They will know we are desperate and will charge accordingly. No doubt NUFC will then refuse to pay and we'll struggle to get a striker never mind the two we'll need.

Why would Lambert want to do that? Anyway, it is a newspaper rumour. Posting "Lambert to West Ham for £8 million" makes it sound like a club confirmed done deal. Harsh, I thought the thread was called Other clubs transfers, not Totally confirmed and sanctioned by Loveitifwebeat you transfers All you needed to do was say "The Sun says Lambert to West Ham for £8 million". http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/gossip/

They may as well ask for a transfer.

Not a Premier League game but the referee Anthony Taylor was absolutely terrible.
-
I don't know about any realistic transfers in but, now NUFC are out of all competitions except for the Premier League the club need to try to loan out as many of the young, fringe players as possible. They won't be getting any game time in the Premiership.
-
I agree with that. Who would want to have "something to play for" if that something was trying to avoid relegation?
-
It wasn't very good of the crowd to boo Obertan on to the pitch. To be fair, the crowd cheered encouragement when he did some good work. His best moment was when he put a dangerous cross in from the right which Cisse almost got on the end of. NUFC might as well move him on if they can. The fans have given up on him and he barely gets any playing time so it is in the interests of all parties that he moves on.
-
I'm going and I'm looking forward to seeing Ben Arfa, Cisse, Yanga-Mbiwa and Haidara play so I'm not bothered about the team being rotated. Most of the players coming into the squad aren't, on paper, a step down from the 'usual' starting 11. Let's hope these players put in a performance which stakes their claim for a starting place in the Premiership team.

They've given Osvaldo a 3 match ban - seems harsh! http://www.itv.com/sport/football/article/2014-01-03/southampton-striker-dani-osvaldo-handed-three-game-ban-and-fined-40-000-for-newcastle-brawl/? We didn't really see what he did though did we? He got done for violent conduct so he must have done something that was seen by the officials.

I doubt Ba's current form is anywhere close to where it was when he left us. He hardly gets a game and when he does he isn't exactly banging the goals in. Maybe he would recapture his form with regular games. I would have him back if he was cheap or on loan. Whatever happens, NUFC are going to have to buy some strikers in this transfer window or the next. Shola (a non-goal scoring striker) and Remy could both be gone at the end of the season. That leaves us with Cisse.

The lesser spotted Marveaux is in the training photos. I don't see Santon or Bigirimana in them. Gutierrez, Steve Taylor, Yanga-Mbiwa, Cissé, Tiote, Anita, Remy, Ben Arfa, Sissoko, Sammy Ameobi, Obertan, Haidara and Dummett are pictured. If that team that has been posted is the team for Saturday it makes you wonder. At least Gutierrez has played a couple of reserve games recently and played well in them. Surely that should put him ahead of Obertan for a start?
