Looks like they've stopped his medication......................
LoveItIfWeBeatU replied to ianovthetoon's topic in Football
If the ownership issue ever gets sorted I hope the club never again suffers the mercenaries and fools that have been coming here since Bobby Robson left. -
I hope Man U sign at least one top class striker to bump Owen further down the striker pecking order. Hopefully he'll be to Man U what Ameobi is to NUFC. I laugh at how Owen tries to dismiss his entire 4 years with NUFC as "a poor spell" as if it was just a small blip. I'd love to be able to get away with that on my CV. Interviewer "What have you done in the last 4 years?" Me "That was a poor spell but I was really good before that time and I will be again!" Interviewer "That's a good answer."
-
I'm sure he will but then I'm also sure an average striker would do well at Man U surrounded by all those good players.

Didn't you know? Owen was just an innocent bystander during his time at NUFC. He couldn't be expected to do anything. We weren't good enough for him you see. That's why he didn't perform. History will be rewritten. Campaigns in the media to get Owen back into the England squad. His time at NUFC is dismissed as a blip. This is further proof that there is no justice in the world. I like it how NUFC.com summed this up: - I must say I'm glad to see Owen is feeling great going to Man U after he 'helped' us get relegated.

I've read piss boiling comments on BBC 606 from morons saying it was all Newcastle's fault that Owen wasn't playing well. These days strikers are expected to create their own chances. I can't think of any current top quality striker who just hangs around the box hoping the ball will land for him.
-
Do I win a prize? That's spot on by the way. We're in a win-win situation. Turns out that wasn't the case. I'm sure Man U are getting him as their new Henrik Larsson. He'll be used as a sub and in cup games. I'd be surprised if he was a regular starter (and I don't mean starts limited by injury). I'm sure he'll do well there (the bastard). But I'm also sure any average striker would do well at Man U due to the quality they are surrounded by. Man U fans thought Alan Smith was good. Surround a shit player with quality and they look ok. Surround an average player with quality and they look good. Look what happens when players leave Man U. They tend to be found out as 'not as good as people thought' elsewhere.

What's strange about a cat in Hell? Should it not be a snowball's chance in Hell? Its fur would catch on fire. I've heard people say it before and never understood it. I assumed it was just people mixing up the 'Cat on a hot tin roof' or 'Cat on hot bricks' with 'not a snowball's chance in Hell'. Maybe Satan has a air rifle and hates cats?

What a kick in the nuts it would be for Newcastle fans to see him grinning away as Man U unveil him. What's strange about a cat in Hell? Should it not be a snowball's chance in Hell?

BBC: Freddy Shepherd £60m offer for NUFC likely to be accepted
LoveItIfWeBeatU replied to jimmymag's topic in Football
Better them than the mongs Sky TV usually find to represent NUFC. I'm sure they didn't ask to be quoted anyway. I saw some interviews about Shepherd's possible return with people in the street yesterday on BBC local news. One guy said "Shepherd always put his money where his mouth was." How I laughed. -

This situation reminds me of the following line said by Judi Dench in 'The Chronicles of Riddick'. "In normal times, evil should be fought by good, but in times like this, well, it should be fought by another kind of evil." -

I do laugh when I read that Freddy Shepherd is the 'public face' of a consortium looking to buy NUFC. Who would choose Freddy Shepherd to head up a consortium to buy NUFC apart from himself? Who would pick a person who is unpopular with the fans to head up their take over? -

I can't say I'd be 'happy' with a return of Freddy Shepherd but at the moment almost anyone is preferable to Mike Ashley. -

Bassong: 'I want to leave for my career and my future'
LoveItIfWeBeatU replied to Dave's topic in Football
Isn't that one of the reasons the club is in the state it is now? Shepherd going all out with the contract offers landed us with Owen, Luque, etc. Not really the same. If Owen and Luque had played like players deserving of their transfer fee/wage demands then both would have been worthwhile signings. It wasn't the amount necessarily being spent, but what on that was the problem. An improved and extended contract for Bassong could be a decent bit of business since we all know of his quality and potential. Yes, I agree we should try to keep Bassong but are we really going to offer him Premiership wages when we are in the Championship? The mess the club is in at the moment it's not exactly nailed on that we will be back in the Premiership in a season. -

Love him or hate him Martins is worth more than £5m in the current market. His release clause value is £11m. Following relegation I'm sure Newcastle will accept less than that for him but surely more than £5m.

I laughed when I read Sunderland want Lovenkrands. If it's true, it makes a mockery of what Bruce said about comparing Wigan and Sunderland (it's like going from shopping at Tesco's to Harrod's).
-
It makes you wonder how a lot of the crowd will react to our Championship standard players this coming season. Having said that, I'd be surprised if the people who hammer every mistake pay to watch Newcastle this season. A lot of our 'shit' former players will be playing in the Premiership this season.
-
If nothing else at least it will be an obvious contrast to the opposition team shirt. It will be handy on FIFA 10! I see the newspapers in Sunderland are just as pathetic as Sunderland fans. Reminds me of the twats at Sun-FM who I once heard say something like "There is heavy traffic going to Newcastle across the Tyne bridge. Good!". You never see Metro FM, The Chronicle or The Journal doing petty anti-Sunderland stories.

If he manages to get a move in the summer, I can only imagine that the rest of the players in his new club's dressing room are just going to royally take the piss out of him - on a daily basis. I assume he has considered how it will look amongst his fellow professionals I read a comment on BBC 606 from someone who claimed to work in football that these brochures are not uncommon. He said they get sent out even for players who are supposedly happy at their club and still have plenty of time to run on their contracts.

All the arseholes who always pick Man U on-line on FIFA will be anxiously waiting to see who Ferguson buys to replace Ronaldo and Tevez.
