Here is a radio interview with Daily Mirror 'journalist' Simon Bird about the 'attack'. I have to say, Simon Bird comes across as a typical 'butter wouldn't melt in my mouth' cunt, like he's trying to deny that him and his press colleagues are cunts: - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/7650281.stm All journalists use the excuse 'I didn't write the headline' when defending their 'stories'. Why don't they have the balls to say to the editor "but that headline isn't true/is misleading/is sensationalist bullshit"?

If nothing else, having Kinnear as the 'new manager' may mean we get the magical 'new manager honeymoon period' and win a few games while we wait for the takeover. We could do with the points!

Yes and so is the UK. I wouldn't go to Australia to have my ankle looked at just like you wouldn't come to the UK to have your ankle looked at. Anyway, I'm not talking about the NHS. Can you imagine a footballer on a six month waiting list for an operation? People are talking bollocks. Private e.g. BUPA hospitals (like the one's who do all the player medicals for transfers) is where these players go. Are people trying to tell me the UK isn't one of the top 10 countries for medicine? Don't be silly. oook... im telling you, UK is not one in the top 10 countries in the world.... when it comes to medicine Beat me to it. LoveIt - I would have thought the might have signified I was being somewhat facetious, taking the piss out of your ingorance and jingoism. Of course professional sportsmen get private medical attention. I was just amused by someone from a nation of mediocre health care trying to dismiss the average health care found in said sportsman's home country. It's funny how I get called ignorant (I noticed the irony that you spelt "ignorance" incorrectly) and a jingoist merely because I think that Britain (as one of the richest countries in the world) has comparable medical experts and facilities to other developed nations. At no point did I say British medical people/facilities are 'better' than Australian ones. The point was, why send someone half way round the world to have his ankle looked at? Stupid argument anyway but can someone list the most advanced medical nations then? I'm sure it will include the likes of USA, Germany, Britain, Australia, Switzerland, South Africa, Japan, Canada, France, etc.

We have big problems right now but assuming we get a new owner and we don't get relegated this season there is a striker crisis on it's way: - Viduka's contract ends at the end of this season. There is an option to extend but I can't see that happening with him being injured most of the time. Ameobi's contract ends at the end of this season. No loss but he will need to be replaced. Owen's contract ends at the end of the season. I can only imagine him staying if we get taken over by an Abramovich-type money no object owner/s. Even then it's not certain he would stay when he can probably go to one of the top 4. That leaves us with Martins, Xisco (who is an unknown quantity at the moment) and Smith who is shite and I don't consider him to be a footballer striker.

well its quite easy to explain, the best possible care, is usually found abroad... what did you think? that all of the best doctors/physios in the world live in england? dream on m8 and its probably cheaper as well to send them abroad To be fair, there are far better medical systems abroad if you have the cash imo. I'm sure our players could afford to go private. Yes I know other countries will have top doctors/physios but come on, a shoulder injury requires a South American doctor? It's not like they're going for a new, experimental treatment. I agree to a degree, but for some things, some specialists mean you need to go abroad. I agree with what you say but isn't it funny how all these specialists happen to be in the home country of the injured player (or in Martins case, where he used to live). The likes of going to see Dr. Richard Steadman for knee injuries I can accept.

Until any of the top 5 richest people in the world are rumoured to be interested in buying Newcastle I'm hoping 6th richest man in the world, Ambiani buys us.

I never understand why these injured players go abroad for treatment. Jonas to Argentina, Viduka to Australia, Martins goes to Itay, etc. Surely the UK is one of the most medically advanced countries in the world. As for Viduka, he won't be getting a new contract. Depending on which league we're in and who owns us I can see NUFC are going to have to do some major striker shopping in the next year with Viduka, Ameobi and Owen's contracts all expiring.

No one gave a shit about Chelsea before Abramovich turned them into a leading light. Where would Chelsea be today without his money? Mid-table. But with their pre-Chelski fans still supporting them I reckon, keeping the "soul" alive at their home games. I thought it was pretty well known that Chelsea were about to 'do a Leeds' before Abramovich bought them.

I don't read newspapers, I don't listen to Talksport, I don't listen to 'The 3 Legends', I don't watch those twats from the papers on Sky on a weekend and I don't watch Sky Sports News. Most of it is just designed to get a response or kick you when you're down. The results of not reading/watching/listening to all that is that I am a lot happier person than I would be if I did 'consume' it. -

Same here. I'd rather have the 6th richest man in the world (who is supposedly a Newcastle fan - but you'd have to wonder why) than a consortium. A Consortium won't always agree with each other. we arent really in a position to be picky though. Lets just get someone in and get a gaffer in place. If thats KK so be it. He started the season ok and i dont think the new guys will make the same mistake as the old lot. And if the give him a few bob too spend as well, happy days. Agree but if there are "several interested parties" we can hope we get the one who will be the best for the club (whoever that may be).

There's some wonderful stereotypical Southern views expressed in there e.g. Geordies can't read. Geordies have small brains. I hope we beat the bastards and they get relegated!

Why put the Chelsea and Aston Villa owners together? They are very different types of owners. I'm now at the stage where I'd be happy if we bought our way to success. Ask any Chelsea fans if they prefer the days before Abramovich. For me, I hope the new owners are 'money no object' rich and are happy to throw that money at NUFC. I just meant more the fact that Shinawatra was an international fugitive and sold up just a year later. I'd much prefer a Lerner 'type' tbh. I thought you meant the Abu Dhabi owners. A Lerner type would be good but an Abu Dhabi owners type insanely rich is what we deserve after the shit we've been through.

Exactly. If it's a mega rich billionaire who is happy to back Keegan then great. Rumours of this Nigerian consortium wanting Yakubu sounds like interference from the word go. We'd also be screwed when the African cup of Nations is on if they go down the 'get as many African players as possible' route.
-
It's a really difficult decision. With Keegan back it would be an instant fix. We know the fans and players would get right behind him straight away. The trouble is, as much as I like him, can we trust him to stay? He may well have had good reason to walk but it has dropped NUFC right in the shit. Whose to say the new owners (assuming we get new owners) wouldn't upset him with something? I really like him but is he a dependable long term manager? It depends on who else we could get. If we can only get mediocre managers go for Keegan. The worry is whoever we get apart from Keegan is a gamble.

Historically we almost always roll over for any team in need of a result. Whenever a team hasn't won or a player hasn't scored I'm sure they must check the fixtures list to see when they play Newcastle. -
Hartlepool away. Slightly different class of opposition.
-
Man City winning 6 - 0! I cant remember the last time we won by three or more goals. It's all well and good going on about sensible spending, etc. but seeing your team win 6 - 0 pisses on all that. How depressing is it that the new Man City owners first choice for a club to buy was Newcastle? Thanks for turning them down Mike.
-
A piece of shit of an article. Emre barely played last season so they must not take appearances into account when working out their statistics. They also don't seem to take the number of games in charge and who the opposition were when they say Allardyce was more successful than Keegan. Embarrassment of an article for 'The Times'.

Do you honestly think Owen would sign a new deal at this point in time? I think the only hope for keeping Owen (and possibly quite a few of the other players) is for Ashley to sell the club to a multi-billionaire who would show real ambition with major investment in the first team. If this situation drags on until the next transfer window prepare for the transfer request avalanche.
