  1. He's almost always wrong with his 'predictions' so we may well be on for a good season.
  2. "Stoke City have tabled a £2m bid for Newcastle midfielder Abdoulaye Faye, 30. (Daily Mail)" Why can't we all be football journalists? No qualifications are required by the looks of things. You don't even need to check the simplest of facts to get your story past the editor and into print.
  3. It may take until 23:59:59 on August the 31st but with the strong rumours of Everton interest plus whispers of Aston Villa and Sunderland interest we may actually sell Smith in this Transfer window. Now we are coming to the end of the transfer window things will start to move faster. The last day is usually quite busy with signings being announced all the way through into the 1st of September.
  4. Seem to remember Duff (when he was injured) being our representative at something like this last season (not sure if it was for SKY). We should have sent Barton along for a laugh.

  6. You are mentioning the only decent performance he's ever given for Newcastle. As usual, he didn't score in that game either. If we end up getting stuck with Alan Smith the only way I'd play him would be up front for the reserves. He'll either rediscover his confidence/form eventually or will just confirm what we already know without losing us Premier League points.

  8. Christ on bike! Get Smith sold while there are still idiots like those at Sky Sports who still rate him enough to put him in our best 11: - http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11662_3910325,00.html
  9. http://www.true-faith.co.uk/html/tbawe.htm I like True Faith but I don't know why they think having a journalist ask the questions to Mike Ashley would make things better.

  11. It's funny how most of the media keep mentioning Coloccini as our third signing forgetting the fact that we have also bought Sebastien Bassong.

  13. It makes no sense from Faye's point of view either. Why would he want to leave us for a club that will be more than likely battling relegation all season? I doubt they'd pay him anywhere as much as we do either. He's from Senegal so I don't see why he'd be homesick for the North West of England.
  14. It's true what they say about people from Liverpool. They're all natural comedians: -
  15. Keegan's just trying to get more money out of Everton/Sunderland by implying how 'important' Smith is to us. That's my interpretation of what Keegan said (until September the 1st if Smith is still with us).
  16. explain further please Just saying what we have - it's really rare to see us put out a team without a striker, and maybe there's something in the stories. Isn't it rare for any club to put out a team that doesn't include at least one striker?
  17. Not until this is confirmed am I allowing myself to be happy about this. It's a shame if it is Everton rather than Sunderland. It would have been nice to weaken Sunderland by selling them Smith.
  18. Get in! I'll never trust the BBC again.
  19. The BBC One local news said Smith is playing tonight. Please don't get injured Alan.
  20. He hasn't even left yet! These are still unconfirmed rumours at the moment.
  21. Bidding war between Sunderland and Everton for him would be fantastic. Get Rangers involved too. Sunderland/Everton "£6M and that's our final offer" NUFC "You're twisting our arm here but ok it's a deal. By the way, would you also be interested in buying some magic beans we have for sale?"
  22. That's canny mental like. Another one fooled by the "he works hard" myth iyam. On that note, although I don't agree with booing him at a friendly, I find .com's rallying cry towards Smith rather irksome given the vitriol aimed towards certain players in the past. You've just reminded me, that's exactly what he said "He works hard." I said I'd prefer a 'lazy' player like Robert who can score from 40 yards out and troubles the opposition to someone who works hard and accomplishes nothing. He also said "You watch. He'll get 10 from midfield this season." I said "10 what? Yellow cards?"
  23. Come on Everton you can do it! We will need an open top bus for the parade if this happens. PS I had a discussion with a fellow Newcastle fan on the way home. He was visibly annoyed that I think we should get shot of Smith. He was all "Give him another season, he'll come good. There are loads of players we should get rid of first."
  24. Aint Smith a Rangers fan? There was that rumour (when Smith went to watch Rangers) that we were going to swap Smith for Cuellar.
