You are mentioning the only decent performance he's ever given for Newcastle. As usual, he didn't score in that game either. If we end up getting stuck with Alan Smith the only way I'd play him would be up front for the reserves. He'll either rediscover his confidence/form eventually or will just confirm what we already know without losing us Premier League points.

It makes no sense from Faye's point of view either. Why would he want to leave us for a club that will be more than likely battling relegation all season? I doubt they'd pay him anywhere as much as we do either. He's from Senegal so I don't see why he'd be homesick for the North West of England.

On that note, although I don't agree with booing him at a friendly, I find .com's rallying cry towards Smith rather irksome given the vitriol aimed towards certain players in the past.
