Redknapp rejects Newcastle or Newcastle reject Redknapp?
LoveItIfWeBeatU replied to Dokko's topic in Football
Quick everyone, let's get down to St. James' and dance and sing in front of the Sky cameras because Redknapp isn't coming! I'm a bit worried that he was offered the job. Come on Mike, think big, go for a top class manager! -
Chris Mort was interested in fans opinions. Hopefully Nufc.com, True Faith and Newcastle online will be emailing him about Redknapp. They should at least try for someone of Mourinho's calibre. If they say no then we'll accept it and move on.

I see we're getting slagged by the tenth rate journos

Yes. I think it's distributed in most cities. -
I was hoping that Mort and Ashley had a plan when they got rid of Allardyce. Maybe they do but unfortunately that plan may turn out to be a shit plan.

I don't get this 'Poison Chalice' bollocks. The worst case scenario for any Newcastle manager is they end up with a multi-million pound pay off if they fail.

Why shouldn't Newcastle fans have higher expectations ?
LoveItIfWeBeatU replied to a topic in Football
If we get a top class manager and Mike Ashley decides to seriously back him with mega bucks I can see Newcastle scaring the shit out of some of the 'top' clubs. We all know the potential is there. We have the stadium and the fans. If we get the manager and the team to go with it...... -
I think I'll wait for an official statement from NUFC confirming they are after a british manager rather than Sky's "we understand an experienced British manager". As was seen with the FA's search for a manager, there are no British managers that anyone can think of who they would be happy with.
-
Keegan strikes back? Keegan has unfinished business. This time he has Mike Ashley's wallet!
-
Sky report they have been told by NUFC that we aren't looking for a foreign coach and NUFC know who they want. It better not be McLaren!
-
It won't be Shearer. Didn't Mort say the other day that Ashley would never put someone with so little experience in charge of one of his companies so why would he do it with his football club. They must have someone lined up.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/7175268.stm It stands for A-Star, a footballing initiative to open up pathways into employment for youngsters through sport and other creative activities: - Footballers are known for their inventive goal celebrations and the latest is the strange three-fingered "A" salute. But what does it mean? From the robot and rocking the baby to Robbie Fowler's infamous line-snorting incident, footballers are always coming up with novel ways to express their joy at scoring a goal. The "A" salute is the latest celebration sweeping the footballing world. After scoring a player spells out "A" using three fingers. England international and Manchester City defender Micah Richards, Everton's Andy Johnson and Wigan Athletic's Titus Bramble and Marcus Bent are among the Premiership players doing it. And for once it's got a positive edge. The three-fingered celebration is part of an initiative started by a group of players, called A-Star. It aims to open up pathways into employment for youngsters through sport and other creative activities. The "A" salute is visual shorthand for the initiative's motto: "every child is a star". One of the players who started the celebration is QPR defender Fitz Hall, who is co-founder of the initiative. He says he wants young people to express themselves in a positive manner and follow role models who don't glamorise "crime, guns or drugs". Sense of achievement "The sign is his way of doing the talking on the pitch," says a spokesman for Hall. "The initiative is his chance to give something back to the game." Through football tournaments and activities organised by A-Star, children will be given a chance to showcase their talents and hopefully come away from the event with a sense of achievement. "The sentiment of A-Star is to influence young people to be the best they can be," says Kenneth Bonsu, also a co-founder of the initiative. "Whatever sphere or walk of life the young person may come from, the mantra of A-Star is that we believe that every child is a star." The initiative is due to be officially launched this summer. The initiative, and the positive message it's trying to promote, has been welcome in the footballing world after a series of scandals involving players, including rape allegations and assault charges. In recent years goal celebrations have increasingly become a way for players to make a statement - personal or political - albeit often at the annoyance of the footballing authorities. One of the most notable incidents involved Robbie Fowler. He raised his shirt after scoring a goal for Liverpool in a 1997 Cup Winners Cup quarter-final to reveal a T-shirt proclaiming support for sacked Liverpool dockers. He was fined £900 for doing it.

I agree with the policy of buying promising young talent and improving the youth set up, etc. I don't agree with Allardyce and Mort when they say you cant just go out and buy success. Look at Chelsea (and to a lesser extent Man City this season). By all means plan and build for the future when we will 'grow our own' but until then can we not go out and buy some decent players to hopefully make the team good now? It all depends on how much more money Ashley wants to spend.

Was he playing? I never noticed him.

They sound like a right bunch of twats.

If we sell Emre we should at least replace him with the type of player Emre was supposed to be, a flair player.

Faye and Beye are available. They leave after this match. Martins and Geremi have already gone. Martins may be allowed back for the Man U game. -

Martins isn't playing is he? Martins is really going to have to hit the ball hard to score from Nigeria's African Nations Cup training camp in Spain. -

Duff is doubtful with a calf strain. Faye and Beye are available. Martins and Geremi have gone (although Martins may pop back for the Man U game). I'd go with: - Given Beye Taylor Faye Enrique Milner Butt Emre Zoggy Smith Owen Bench: - Harper, Viduka, Cacapa, Carr & Ameobi -
Hopefully Allardyce can use his contacts and get a few quality loan players in. He used to manage it for Bolton so it should be slightly easier at Newcastle.
-
How on earth would you know that? Yeah, I heard to rumours but that's all they were RUMOURS! Elano was always Citys player. He was offered him before Sven Not particularly wanting to defend Allardyce but I think it was said that we missed out on Elano because of the takeover. The money wasn't available when Elano was.

I'm sure I read (on nufc.co.uk I think) that he is at the Newcastle training ground every 3 weeks (I think it was) so Allardyce can keep him involved in the squad and to see how he is progressing.
