  1. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transfer_window Less than 2 weeks until the transfer window opens.
  2. https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/what-newcastle-united-planned-goalkeeping-14595108 Surprised NUFC want to extend Darlow’s contract. He was supposedly close to getting sold to Middlesbrough last Summer and only didn't go because Rafa didn't get the new goalkeeper he wanted. You'd think Darlow would want to leave to get starts somewhere else.
  3. I mean, I'm fairly certain Krul is better than Elliot - so in that sense it weakened us. Wouldn't want him as a starter though, but a better back-up than Elliot. He's not though. You'd honestly start Rob Elliot over Tim Krul if you had a choice between only those two? Rafa would as it was Rafa who told Krul he could leave.
  4. Did it weaken us? Ashley wouldn't have allowed the Dubravka loan if we'd had Krul, Elliot and Darlow on the books.
  5. Another reason why NUFC might as well sell Mitro. We need angels in our team as when our players do anything they shouldn't that's missed by the ref, we can rely on the media to point it out and the FA to act.
  6. Remember when some people were worried about NUFC letting Tim Krul go to Brighton? Strengthening a rival they said. Has he started a league game for Brighton yet?
  7. I think the clue to that is in the first line of the description of the podcast, "Adam talks with British comedian Bob Mortimer." Presumably a lot of the audience is American. Well he usually has British guests. His podcast doesn't seem to be done with Americans in mind. It's probably more to do with Adam not being interested in Football and therefore he probably doesn't think Sunderland is a well known place.
  8. Their new owners will have done a very impressive job if they get them promoted back to the Championship at the first attempt. It will be even more impressive if they get them challenging to get back to the Premiership in 2 seasons. They've said they are going to run the club sensibly. That means they aren't going to spend more than they bring in. Even if Sunderland fans filled the stadium every home game that's peanuts money these days.
  9. Not really Sunderland related but people have been talking about Bob Mortimer's 'Athletico Mince' in this thread, Bob is the guest on the latest Adam Buxton podcast on Spotify. Adam Buxton describes 'Athletico Mince' and says it includes "sketches and songs designed to offend the people of Sunderland.....in the North East of England". He says that bit like his listeners won't have heard of Sunderland before.
  10. A Billionaire would if it was going to continue to cost him £0.5m a week with no end in sight. No point throwing good money after bad. Better to pay e.g. £150m now than £180m in a year.
  11. The new owners state they are going to run the club realistically. That means they are going to live within their means. Sure they may 'buy' their way to winning League 1 with the parachute payments but they've got no sugar daddy financing them anymore. They'll get the money to run the club the old way i.e. by fans buying match tickets. TV money is next to nothing in League 1 and the Championship. If they ever get back to the Premier league they'll be miles behind the other teams (we struggled by missing one season of the £100m+ TV money).
  12. A billionaire has left them and they've been taken over by a 'group of investors'. Investors want a return on their investment. They won't throw good money after bad like Short did.
  13. Even if NUFC keep Mitro he'll be 2nd choice at best as you'd hope we buy a striker who'd be ahead of him. Mitro doesn't want to go back to sitting on the bench after starting every game for Fulham.
  14. I doubt the investors will be giving away thousands of free tickets so we'll see how much support the fans give them.
  15. https://www.readytogo.net/smb/threads/heres-to-you.1428790/
  16. Maybe Mitro would have done better than the strikers we do have but that's not saying much. Our strikers have all failed when it comes to regularly scoring goals. Their running and hard work may have created chances for others but they get judged on goals by the fans. Rafa doesn't seem to rate/trust Mitro so he wouldn't have been playing here anyway. Better he goes on loan. Hopefully we'll buy a striker who can score goals next season.
  17. Apparently Slimani was Rafa's 4th choice for a striker in the January transfer window so there's a good chance Rafa doesn't want to buy Slimani anyway.
  18. Based on the Fulham vs Sunderland game I saw nothing different from Mitro's game than when he has played for us.
  19. Everton may have won but their fans won't be happy with this news: - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/43922460
  20. Scored ahattrick against Arsenal at Emirates On FIFA? In UCL with Anderlecht Fair enough. He didn't like Not fair enough then. He's never scored a hat-trick then as far as I can tell.

  23. This Sky app is delayed. The free kick hasn't even been taken yet.
  24. Fulham are like watching us at our most frustrating. Mitrovic has played no different to how he's played for us.
  25. Well Fulham's owner is worth $7.2Bn so I guess they'd be competition to NUFC.
