  1. Townsend is in poor form and surplus to requirements at Crystal Palace. No way should they make a profit on him. Crystal Palace aren't in a position of strength. They're in the bottom 3 of the Premiership and fat Sam still hasn't won a game. There's no guarantee Townsend will come back to NUFC and pick up where he left off.
  2. Last year the final day of the transfer window (1st of February) was pretty frantic with the majority of deals being loans: - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/35400688
  3. Going by the number of 'giant killings' it looks like most of the Premiership and Championship teams don't give a shit about progressing in the FA Cup. That and their cobbled together fringe and youth team players aren't up for the game as much as lower league opposition teams.
  4. My major issue with him is his finishing. How can he be classed as a striker when he needs so many chances to score?

  6. I had to look them up. 5th tier team. Magic of the cup.
  7. Thank fuck it wasn't on live TV or we'd never see the end of it in FA Cup highlights.
  8. The next time he scores his defenders will shout about those who don't rate him as if the goal cancels out all those previous misses.
  9. Was it Roma who were interested? Get on the phone quick!
  10. Now Liverpool are out of all competitions apart from the Premiership they may be willing to loan out some fringe players.
  11. I think we'll have loaned 1 or 2 players by the time the window closes. There's at least 2 Premiership clubs getting knocked out the FA Cup this weekend (Crystal Palace, Man City, Southampton or Arsenal).
  12. I'm not bothered about signing anyone on a permanent basis this window. I want us to loan players though. Loans will probably happen on the last day of the transfer window. The FA Cup fixtures over the weekend will result in a few Premiership teams being knocked out so they'll be happier to loan out their fringe players.
  13. According to the following article from last season, there's no limit to how many players a club can loan but only 5 can be in a match day squad. http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/sport/football/football-news/coventry-city-how-many-loan-10461342
  14. Funny thing is on RTG there was a thread this morning titled "We could be out the bottom 3 today".
  15. Sammy playing today confirms it's either back to Bolton or he's staying at NUFC to the end of the season.
  16. couldn't give a shit about the money, not sure why anyone could. will he improve us? yes (imo) so whether its £13m or £10m or £8m makes not a jot of difference to us fans while it is mike ashleys nufc. I can when said money can be used toward buying someone else in the Summer. Mike Ashley's NUFC has a finite amount of transfer money. Of course we want to get the best deal possible when buying players. The fact is Townsend's stock should have fallen based on his time at Crystal Palace. If Palace want to sell him, either find another team to pay £13m for him where he's happy to go to or loan him to NUFC and we'll see if we want to buy him in the Summer. I'd rather loan players in this transfer window. Hopefully we'll be promoted as we'll then be able to attract better players. According to one of the reports posted yesterday, Palace still owe us £3m of the original transfer - so that would be used as the 'loan fee' now, and we'd pay them the £10m difference in the summer if we go up/have obligation to keep him. Yes, that's what I read and that would mean giving Palace their £13m back.
  17. that lot man. It's like they're oblivious to the plight they're in. I'm just praying they're so skint that relegation makes them go bust. My favourite quote is "imagine trying to motivate yourself to go to a game against Rotherham at home" by "LD19SAFC". Well reportedly 52K (including away fans) have motivated themselves to go to a game against Rotherham. A huge number of Sunderland fans can't motivate themselves to watch their own team (even when the tickets are free) never mind who is coming to play them.
  18. I'd be happy if we got him back on loan. I wouldn't be happy to pay back the £13m we got for him. He's not done very well at Crystal Palace therefore his transfer value should have depreciated (in the same way his transfer value appreciated after he did well at NUFC).
  19. Not really when we've got around 80%+ back on what we paid for them. Sunderland almost never make any money on their sales. Aren't we basically giving them to OM for free? No. Why would you even think that was the case? As if Mike Ashley would sanction that.
  20. Not really when we've got around 80%+ back on what we paid for them. Sunderland almost never make any money on their sales.
  21. I see Sunderland won on Saturday. Congratulations. http://m.bbc.co.uk/sport/motorsport/38622085
  22. A lot of loans tend to happen at the end of the window. Clubs will have bought new players pushing their fringe players further down the order. Some Premiership clubs will also get knocked out the FA cup so there will be less opportunity for their fringe players to play. Those players will wait to the end of the window to see what their best options are.
  23. If he plays for NUFC then we won't be able to loan him out again (except to Bolton) as players can't play for more than 2 clubs a season.
  24. http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/newcastle-transfers-jamie-sterry-could-12446424 In a nutshell, Sterry can only go on loan to Coventry again as he as already played for NUFC this season and players can't play for more than 2 clubs a season. The same would apply to Sammy Ameobi if he plays for NUFC. A silly rule. Why was it brought in?
