  1. I'm not. I'm saying £1.3m maybe peanuts when it comes to players and their wages but that money would make a difference buying players for the youth team squad, coaches, staff, etc. Carroll may have helped NUFC win 3 or 4 points. If someone else had played instead (e.g. Gayle or Muto) we may have won more points. We may have won less points. We'll never know.

  3. I read £30K a week (which would be £1.56m over the 12 months of his contract). £25K a week would still be £1.3m for the 12 month contract. Also, appearance fees, possible signing fee and other bonuses on top plus his medical costs are probably covered by the club. £1.3m to £1.56m, would have made a huge difference if it had been invested in the training ground or youth set up (which I know wouldn't have been done as Ashley doesn't see the value in it).
  4. What shite house fans Arsenal have. Booing opposition substitutions and only making a sound when they are winning.
  5. I'm sure Carroll isn't happy he's injured. That doesn't change the fact that he is injured or that he has been frequently injured for long spells throughout his playing career. A £30K a week basic salary with pay as you play bonuses is an amazing deal for him given his injury record.

  7. How have the other free transfer, frequently injured strikers (Danny Welbeck and Daniel Sturridge) been getting on this season?
  8. https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/newcastle-united-press-conference-live-17746253 What a shock that a player with a poor injury record is injured.
  9. According to Ciaran Kelly of The Chronicle, NUFC have the option to trigger an extra year in Federico Fernandez's contract.
  10. Joelinton and Muto both back in training. Andy Carroll, Dwight Gayle and Jonjo Shelvey not seen in training as of Wednesday. Looks like Joelinton will be leading the line again then.
  11. A large percentage of the NUFC squad is out of contract in the Summer or only have one year left on their contract in the Summer. A lot of big decisions need to be made on who to offer a new contract to and who to try to sell. At least one back up goalkeeper will be required. I doubt Freddie Woodman will want to be second choice. Out of contract in June 2020: - Andy Carroll Federico Fernandez Javier Manquillo Rob Elliot Karl Darlow Matty Longstaff Jack Colback Out of contract in June 2021: - Ciaran Clark Fabian Schär Jonjo Shelvey Matt Ritchie Dwight Gayle Isaac Hayden DeAndre Yedlin Christian Atsu Rolando Aarons Achraf Lazaar Jacob Murphy Freddie Woodman Henri Saivet Contract dates taken from https://www.nufc.com/2019-20html/squad.html
  12. https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/steve-bruce-reveals-four-changes-17678500 Joelinton upfront again then. I guess Ritchie at LWB, Yedlin or Hayden (although he went off injured on Saturday so maybe not) RWB. Atsu might get a start if Almiron or Saint-Maximin are rested.
  13. The Chronicle is owned by Reach plc (owners of Mirror Group). As physical newspaper sales are a shadow of what they were their business model will be about hits on their websites. The Chronicle churning out puff pieces and squad news every week will gain them more hits consistently than a critical analysis of Mike Ashley and the club. That would also be biting the hand that feeds them. I don't expect anything from The Chronicle apart from click bait headlines. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reach_plc https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Reach_plc_titles
  14. Now the transfer window is closed, I can't imagine any interested party would finalise a purchase of NUFC until Premier League status is guaranteed.
  15. Because NUFC would then only be left with 2 senior goalkeepers instead of 3? Also, Elliot would have to agree to his contract ending early.
  16. I presume Ki didn't have the last 6 months of his contract paid up? If not, good of him to sacrifice that money in order to be released. Rangers were rumoured to be interested in him earlier in the month.
  17. Ironically, when all the strikers were fit only Joelinton got any real game time. Carroll was getting 20 substitute appearances and Gayle and Muto barely any minutes.
  18. I spent too much time reading all the posts during that last takeover. I'll not bother this time. If it happens then great, if it doesn't then I'll not have wasted my time.
  19. Klopp's going to be gutted about that replay fixture.
