You'd think they'd have just kept taking the Netflix money (if Netflix were interested in another season). A successful Sunderland season wouldn't be as popular a TV show. People like to see comedy and tragedy from a football team you don't support. A "feel good" Sunderland story is only "feel good" for Sunderland. Newcastle, Portsmouth, Coventry, Charlton, Fleetwood, Burton, etc. fans aren't going to watch that but they will watch the failure.

I've now watched the last episode of season 2. The laughs quota was much higher in this final episode. Regarding the possibility of a third season: -

I've got one episode of season 2 to go. I've not enjoyed this season as much. Apart from the cup final I don't remember a single defeat being mentioned. The draws didn't get a mention until their goalscorer left. I know the makers are Sunderland fans so either they decided to cut back on showing the good stuff or the club did. Even their trip to the cup final only showed their PG rated antics rather than what went on around Trafalgar Square.

I'd have thought finishing the current season is more important than starting the next season.

Reading the first few pages of this thread and how underwhelmed people were with the signing is interesting with hindsight. -

Do none of you watch the news? The UK's chief medical adviser said probably 10,000 have it. The 500 or whatever are tested and confirmed to have it. Watch the video here: - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-51857856

He was fit again at the same time as Gayle. After Bruce complained he had no striker cover, as soon as Muto recovered he hasn't been in the squad. I think he was on the bench a couple of weeks ago. He's in the latest training pictures. https://www.nufc.co.uk/news/galleries/toon-in-training-all-set-for-the-saints/

If you had to bet your house on a NUFC striker scoring a goal between now and the end of the season who would you play as striker? Joelinton or Gayle? I'd pick Gayle.
-
Joelinton had about 28 games, scoring 1 goal. Gayle should start the games to the end of the season. Gayle can't be worse than Joelinton. Apparently Gayle won a few headers today. He was unlucky not to score.

Where was it announced? Just seen it announced a load on Twitter, that’s why I said apparently Anyone watch this yet Only Season 1 is on Netflix and it doesn't say anything about a second season (Netflix usually has a note when more episodes are on the way).

Possibly. Not getting a game and not getting the contract offer he wants will make his mind up for him to leave. -

Weird how Matty Longstaff hasn't got a game for awhile considering he has actually had some shots on goal and scored a couple of goals. I see Muto still never gets near the squad now that he has recovered from injury. -
Matty Longstaff (now playing for Toronto FC)
LoveItIfWeBeatU replied to toontownman's topic in Football
It's not. He's also not been in the first team much (even though some of us may think he should have been over others). You'd think they could give him a contract with a good wage but with clauses to increase his wages based on certain targets. Easier said than done if another team is willing to take the risk on giving him a higher wage and a longer contract straight off. -

I'm not saying the club is correct to not offer Matty a good deal, I'm saying they've been badly burned numerous times before giving big wages and long deals to players they then can't get rid of (Ranger, Aarons, Vučkić, etc). -

The £850 a week Matty is supposedly paid is his contract before breaking into the first team. As I understand it Matty now wants a wage which reflects his promotion to the first team squad. With his contract coming to an end he can play hardball with NUFC, especially if there are other clubs interested. I read he wants £25K a week. I guess NUFC are trying to avoid another situation where they give a young player who has broken into the first team a fantastic deal against the risk that they could be a flash in the pan. -

Who would leave? Whoever Mike Ashley can get decent money for. Each time NUFC have been relegated under Ashley he sells all the good players then buys lower Premier League/top Championship players to "guarantee" promotion.
-
Gayle and Muto must wonder what they have to do to get a chance. Joelinton has had around 27 Premier League games and has scored once. Time to try something different. What's the worst that could happen? Gayle or Muto couldn't do much worse.
-
I think if we'd played one of our centre backs up front all season they'd probably have scored more.
-
How extraordinary is Joelinton's lack of goals considering the number of minutes he has played and the fact he is played up front? I seriously think we'd have probably got more goals from playing almost anyone else from the squad upfront.
