https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public_Investment_Fund_of_Saudi_Arabia Why would they need partners to complete a £350m purchase of NUFC? No doubt they'll drop out when Mike Ashley raises the asking price by £10m even though they probably make that much money in 10 minutes from oil.

Muto or Gayle would almost certainly have scored more than 2 goals if they'd had as many starts as Joelinton. Hopefully one of our other strikers will recover from injury so Joelinton can get taken out of the side.

Newcastle United v Oxford United 25/1/2020 FA Cup 4th round

Apparently Lazaro "will not face Oxford after missing the midday cut off point to be registered." -
Valentino Lazaro (now playing for Benfica, on loan from Inter Milan)

He's taken the number 23 for his squad number. Can he ride a bike while eating an apple? -
I see he has chosen to wear the number 42 on his shirt. He must be a fan of "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy".

The Everton fan in the hat and Adidas t-shirt really enjoyed our equaliser. As it dawns on him his right arm held aloft slowly drops down.

Lejeune lying on the ground feeling his back for an injury instantly rises like Lazarus after he realises a goal has been given.

I've just watched the 2nd goal footage repeatedly on loop. It's great to watch each NUFC player individually. The realisation that a goal is given flips the reactions. Fernandez with both his arms in the air for ages before anyone else as he must have seen the ball go behind the line. I laughed most at some of the Everton fans behind the goal celebrating and clapping (not sarcastically) after the goal is given. They must have thought the ref was blowing the whistle for full time or something. Hilarious.

It would be interesting to know how many goals Gayle or Muto would have got with a 20+ game run in the side. I think they'd have scored more than Joelinton's 1 league goal. Joelinton has a groin injury and has been carrying the injury for at least 3 games.

Florian Lejeune (now playing for Rayo Vallecano)

Shame he didn't have enough time to get a hat trick. -
Matt Ritchie (now Technical Director at Bournemouth)
LoveItIfWeBeatU replied to Fenham Mag's topic in Football
It did end in an accident. Everyone laughs because it hit the guy in the nuts but none of us men would have been laughing if we'd been on the receiving end. -
Jetro Willems (now playing for Deportivo Castellón)

Not many clubs would sign a player with a serious injury until they knew he'd fully recovered. -
Rolando Arrons wasn't getting picked every game in a league 1 side. He's not Premier League quality. NUFC will have to get a replacement for Left Back.

Matt Ritchie (now Technical Director at Bournemouth)
LoveItIfWeBeatU replied to Fenham Mag's topic in Football
If the guy had remained seated the flag would probably have hit him in the face and quite possibly an eye. I'd be surprised if we see Ritchie punt a corner flag again. -

I'm sure he'll be told to stop on health and safety grounds. I'm sure the guy who got hit didn't think it was funny. Instead of kicking corner flags Ritchie will probably just hit our goal scorer more than he usually does the loon. -

This video gives the best view of the corner flag nailing that guy. -
Matty Longstaff (now playing for Toronto FC)
LoveItIfWeBeatU replied to toontownman's topic in Football
A 2 year contract on "fair" wages with a clause to review the salary based on appearances and performance would seem reasonable. Problem is, another club could take the risk and offer better terms. I think Joelinton got a 6 year contract so Ashley isn't done with the super long contracts just yet. -
Matty Longstaff (now playing for Toronto FC)
LoveItIfWeBeatU replied to toontownman's topic in Football
NUFC have a history over the Ashley era of signing young players who have made a good impression in the short term to long contracts with high wages. They've been burned by this quite a few times. Maybe they are trying to take a more considered approach with the Longstaff brothers? -

If you watch the video, Ritchie gives Matty a whack on the head after scoring. -
The BBC poster obviously got told off as the comment was amended to remove the Jimmy Saville reference.

Male commentators - yay or nay? I can't stand most of them. Cliche spouting bores. The option Amazon had to have no commentary was great. I think it was an option on Sky ages ago. If you were at a football match next to someone who wittered on like a TV football commentator you'd not be happy.

Rochdale 1-1 Newcastle United - 04/01/20 (winner to play Oxford (H))
LoveItIfWeBeatU replied to Disco's topic in Football
The replay has not been chosen for TV. Rochdale won't be getting much of a payday from this game.
