  1. No offense to the lad but there’s something vaguely comical about Joe Willock walking out to the champions league anthem, lining up to start against freaking PSG
  2. PL is the best league in the world but it’s still relatively egalitarian in terms of talent distribution. I fancy us to get a result even against Man City etc. But in Europe when we come up against squads like this I’m just like “eh… what the fuck.”
  3. everything to gain and not much to lose. We are through regardless. Perfect sort of match really.
  4. Today’s the day he turns it around. I can feel it.
  5. I have to be misremembering but I’m pretty sure I’ve never seen one of these “crazy eddie” formations actually work
  6. Wants one of the three forwards to drift more central and elanga is theoretically our best option for counterattacking football, I’d guess.
  7. The squad is fine-ish and one of the problems with already being this good is that it's very hard to improve meaningfully unless you're bringing in a legitimate superstar. And that's just not something you can reasonably expect in the January window. I would like a backup fullback just so I don't need to have a heart attack every time Hall or Livramento as much as slightly stumble on the pitch. Beyond that, keeping the powder dry for the summer isn't the worst thing in the world.
  8. Would be absolutely legendary if we won this and got into the top eight. It's not a trophy or anything, but would be our biggest result in a while.

I recall that one of the reasons he was so desperate to join us was because it was his last realistic chance at CL football, so this photo makes me happy for him.
  10. For the PL there’s a tangible and achievable goal that will have a dramatic impact on the future of the club (CL qualification), so it’s very different.
  11. I think the excitement of the CL is muted slightly by the understanding that we have no chance of actually winning it as currently constructed. The individual games are still fun, but it lacks that little bit of hope that it may lead to something bigger.
  12. Got norovirus last year. Went away about a day or so but was painful enough that I'll never forget to wash my hands properly again.
  13. Multiclub is one of those things that I would opt out of even if it definitely makes us more successful over the long run (I'm skeptical of that as well).
  14. Don't know if that's true or not, but if it is, yes, they should be pouring all of the money into it.
  15. Shola made his debut in 2000, so depending on how you position the two decades I may still be technically correct
  16. Improving the academy is arguably even more difficult than improving the first team and is the sort of thing that takes 5-10 years of sustained investment before you've built up enough of a reputation that you are consistently bringing in top prospects outside of your geographic area. I think we're in a much better place than we were when Steven Taylor and Andy Carroll were basically the only academy prospects to become first team regulars over about two decades. But still a ways to go.
  17. Just waiting for the Romano tweet that he's signing for Man Utd. Feels like summer all over again.
  18. No idea who this is but he plays full back? Sold.

Coming back from major injury, five starts with maybe 400 total minutes played. Two goals Let's maybe wait a few weeks before we Elanga him?
